I think the only reason the bark was giving you problems and not coming off easily, is because it looks like winter there. The bark tends to hold on tighter in the winter. In the summer, it seems to peel off easily. Great video!!

All the branches that i would normally prune off, get air layered off. I started with a couple dozen apple pear, peach, cherry, and plum trees, and now i have about 60 growing. All the stuff i air layer now, gets put online to sell. They all sell. Normal pruning gets me around 400 air-layered healthy new trees a year. Because they are cloned, they start producing flowers immediately which is nice. But you have to remove the fruit because the tree isn't established yet and can't handle the weight. The cool thing about air layering is, it is 100%. They all take.

I have tried many times with apples, pears and plums with the same technique as in this video. ZERO results getting roots except with figs which are very easy to root. Do you have any videos on your method to air layer apples, peach plums, etc? Any information at all? I have some rare pear trees I want to get growing on their own roots via air layering, so I hope you can help. Thanks @krodkrod8132!

I think the rooting hormone is more effective if you put it on the upper cut line and nodule above where it can interact with where the roots will grow from.

Add a little water into the top to prevent it from drying out in the heat. Once you have a nice amount of roots just cut it below the airlayer and plant it like any new fruit tree.
