This video explains how to install an O-Ring Rebuild Kit on a pneumatic nail gun. (Air nailer) Symptoms are explained and typically these are fixed by installing a Rebuild Kit to make the unit like new again! You can, also, visit our website at www.mastertoolrepair.com to find any replacement part for your air compressor or pressure washer.

Back in the early 80's I was a small engine mechanic for a large hardware and building supply business. On average I would repair or rebuild 4-6 nail guns a day, (kept the contract crews going). Your the 1st I seen know use a specific grease for the o-rings. I used parker lube (o-ring lube), good stuff. Never use oil, its also detrimental. Ive been an industrial hydraulics tech for 20 yrs now. Build machinary for the offshore oil an gas industry.

Thank you very much, just replaced my nailer! The problem I had before was inserting the seals in wrong order, I originally just bought the seals on Amazon for about $10 bucks and thought I had the order correctly because the included diagram just shows seals stacked on top of each other as opposed to going around the plastic parts. Your video showed how they went but most importantly was that the upper body head valve has a seal around it and lip facing out. The diagram is not clear about that. I have the RN46-1 (plastic cylinder) but its the same process. Almost gave up on a $25 pawn shop clearance that is now not leaking air anymore!

Should the bumper and piston stop be lubed as well? I reassembled the rn46-1 and now it leaks exhaust. Everything else great.
@MasterToolRepair
@MasterToolRepair 5 жыл бұрын
No, it's not necessary to lube the bumper or piston stop. The exhaust leak may be caused by faulty head valve o-rings and/or a bad cylinder seal (which is the seal on top of the cylinder). If all else fails when you replace these components, you most likely have a head or head valve that's simply worn out; in this case, replace these hard parts to fix the leak. Thanks for the question!

sir what Is method when stapler body crack and air leaks is any idea...
@MasterToolRepair
@MasterToolRepair 7 жыл бұрын
If the body is cracked, you'll most likely need to replace the body, but it would probably be cheaper to simply buy a new stapler. You can try to use a product like JB Weld", but most likely you will probably have to purchase a new stapler as you most likely won't be able to seal the leak completely. Thanks for the comment!

I had been sitting on my o-ring kit for 3 or 4 weeks now and I still havnt used it . I had a issue where it would on shot and leak air through the exhaust. on-site I would simply turn the gun over and bang the component back down. today she just wasn't having it . so I got my hex bits and ring kit all ready on my kitchen table and get into the discovery . so much gunk built up in there and was inhibiting the exhaust rings in the head manifold (black cap) .clean all that stuff out rinsed and toothbrush scrubbed ( my wife sure isn't happy about the bathtub) and let it dry out . decided not to pay attention and right away I was confused as to what went were lol . opened my o-ring kit and got the diagram . put it all back together , tucked it back in the bucket , placed it by the door . go back to the kitchen and start cleaning to find 1 O-RING ...... !!! I'm not Havin cheerios for breakfast tomorrow morning anymore my friends . 2 scoops of o-rings.....shieeet partner

oh ya . I had a question. since I didn't go into my ring kit , I didn't grease up my original rings . instead I used the oil . I must have used about an ounce of oil to while seating the rings , is this going to be a problem or am I better to grease the buggers??. I'm using antifreeze pneumatic oil . it's Canadian Roofing out here lol . second question is on how to clean it . the insides when she builds up all that shit . what's the best way to clean inside ?
@MasterToolRepair
@MasterToolRepair 7 жыл бұрын
We do recommend greasing up the o-rings when installing them new, absolutely. You should have some grease, most every kit should include it. Once you reassemble the nailer, it's only necessary to add a few drops of oil to properly lubricate the nailer. As for cleaning it, we usually use a parts washer in the shop, which contains a Varsol cleaner, or any mineral-based degreaser you can find on the market. Varsol fluids, for instance, are traditional solvents that are also known as mineral spirits or white spirits. These fluids have been widely used in industry for decades, developed to replace kerosene in solvent applications (lower flash point and sulfur content). Hope this helps!

We'll do our best, it would be a good idea as the RN45B nailer is very popular. Thanks for suggesting that. We try to give the people what they want ;-)

I have a bostitch coil nailer and it won't shoot the nails with my compressor I have a Hitachi and a senco coil nailers and those work fine on my compressor but not the bostitch I press the trigger and it has air but it doesn't shoot the nails I already took it to a repair shop 3 times and they tell me nothing is wrong with the gun and they test it and it shoots perfect but not on my compressor or on my friends compressor, I don't get before it used to work fine
@MasterToolRepair
@MasterToolRepair 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question! That is strange, yes. First, you may want to call Bostitch directly and speak with a service rep at 1-800-556-6696 as they can give you more detailed assistance than we could in a comment, honestly. But, if the nailer works on other compressors, then it might be your compressor. First, make sure you actually have the correct amount of pressure going to the hose. Make sure the regulator pressure gauge is accurate, and make sure your regulator actually adjusts the line pressure up or down when you turn the knob. Other than giving the nailer and complete in-and-out cleaning (and re-lubing all of the o-rings), it's hard to say what might be the matter without us tearing the gun apart to inspect each component. Good luck!

Unfortunately we no longer sell parts for pneumatic nailers, so I would search eBay or contact the manufacturer of your nailer to find an authorized service center or retailer. Thank you!

Hi Bruce, this is a video showing the basics of an o-ring kit installation. Typically one would replace the o-rings if the nailer is firing sluggishly, isn't firing at all or is leaking (or all of the above). We hope this helps!

@@javiermontes3777 Unfortunately the o-ring kit is no longer offered, only individual o-rings. However, you may be able to find this from a third party seller on eBay, as many manufactures make aftermarket kits.
