I have this and have used it multiple times. It's a great idea the way it clamps to the scope mount. The quick-release button is nice too.

Very informative and appears to be well thought out spring compressor. Will this work with a HW97? My gun is full power and the back trigger block has to be unscrewed to remove and the spring? Thanks, Joe

I used a pipe clamp that I had to work on my Slavia 618 Break Barrel Rifle. It worked well.

This is a great idea and will certainly make working on spring guns more convenient. The one thing I do not understand is how can you adjust the distance between the threaded rod and the body of the unit itself? That distance will vary from rifle to rifle. The Diana's have a dovetail rail welded to the compression tube that will increase that distance vs other rifles that have the dovetail grooves cut right into the tube. This could lead to the end of the threaded rod being not in the center of the end cap which could, in turn, lead to it slipping off during tension release or compression. I guess the other way to address this is to put some sort of large "pad" at the end of the threaded rod instead of a small plastic buffer, mimicking the jackscrew setup that we all use when we made our homemade spring compressors. This floating pad could allow for some angle and play in the differing setups. All in all, fantastic concept, but there may be a few adjustments to make it safer.

Good point. My 2 Diana/RWS 34 T06 Classic's dovetail rails are cut into the compression tube, guess I am lucky. Some Benjamin/Crosman have welded on dovetails which may present a hazard as I have read from reviewers they have popped off during normal use of the rifles. Anyway, this spring compressor just may be on my short list.

It can and has been done on the Diana's and various other brands that have the elevated scope rail. You have to remember that you only need to push the end cap in slightly so if you're pushing at an angle it's not the end of the world. And you can angle the rod enough to do that. The Rail Lock was designed by Vortek Products in Michigan and vetted heavily by both them and Air Venturi on a ton of guns before this was brought to market.

Admirably clear video. But my Stoeger X20 has no rail. Ideas? Need to send it to a shop, I suspect. I like the gun and want the power cut down, the dischg noise too, by removing the 1" plug that gives the spring extra compression. What shop/who would do that?

I used my bare hands and my own weight, had the pin in a bosch drill, back of the gun in my hand, the muzzle pressed against the ground, and just spun the metal pin inwhile compressing with max force

Would all air rifle scope 11mm rail hold the tension from the spring and does it work for a Hatsan 125? Thank you

..... i'd seen this design when i was more into the airgun biz.....they knocked it outta the park with the design, but since it will not work on all airguns , i was thinking it was $50-55.... at $99 , you may need to consider the sun optics spring compressor , which services more spring, gas ram / piston airguns . - paul.

The Sun Optics has been discontinued by the manufacturer, guess they were too concerned with liability and lawyers.

I was thinking the same....generally speaking scope rails are held by small fine thread machine screws and are somewhat fragile themselves. He has all the torque applied with only a inch or so of it clamped to the rail. You are going to trash your rail or......ruin your receiver by sheering off those small machine screws inside the tapped holes or stripping out the threads in the holes. You also could bend the receiver due to how far out your leverage is being applied. I think it would be much safer and work better using a traditional press or improvising one from a modified pipe slide clamp.

When the pin is driven out, it's too easy for the compressor clamp to slip. It must get a flatbar or threaded rod, bolted to the compressor, going to the barrel muzzle. The flatbar will be double, one bar atop the other, length adjustable by threaded holes and bolts. A padded steel cup covers the barrel muzzle. Anyone looking for an aftermarket opportunity? Oh, and thanks Pyramid Air, no company educates like PA.

Yes it is a fantastic idea and concept. But it has one flaw other than the price. It can't be used to fix older pellet rifles that don't have 11mm or weaver rails. I have 6 older pellet rifles that need some TLC internally and this product though great for its intended use, doesn't lend itself very well as an all around solution to all spring and gas piston air rifles that need a tune up.

That's correct, it would require that the rifle or pistol used have an optics rail.

The tool might be OK but I wouldn't trust the rail with much stress. I have seen scope rails fall off from normal use. I pass on this for safety reasons.

You won't have that problem with rifles that have the dovetails cut directly into the compression tube. It does beg the question of all around safety however. Two allen screws are what is preventing you from breaking your hand or worse. In theory, I'd love to get it and hope it works. The price is way too much though, $99 plus S&H?? You can build one to custom fit your gun for about $25 in hardware and lumber. I guess if Air Venturi sells the heck out of them the price won't come down. Time will tell.

That's a problem with the gun then, not the Rail Lock. And besides the early NP2s that came out, I've seen very few instances where scope rails that are not cut into the comp tube have actually come off or moved at all.

I'm disappointed in this tool. In one of my guns, the angle from the rising the end cap was too extreme to be safe. In another i found the tailwind not hold to the dovetail grooves. I actually put a dovetail to picatinn y adapter on and it held to the.picatinny. Didn't like the angle but it held.

what is the ft lbs that the kral n11 puts out?

In .22 cal, about 22-25 ft/lbs depending on the ammo used

Tyler Patner thanks for the quick reply I'm debating on the kral n11 or octane in .22 something that has same power as my Maximus. do you happen to know the piston seal size or spring size,if I do get the kral,so I know what replacements I would need?

I'm not 100% sure on the Piston Seal size.....according to one of our techs, he's pretty confident it's about 28mm, but don't quote me on that. As for the spring, the OD is .823", ID is .560", wire diameter is .130" and the spring has 43 coils. Hope that helps

Tyler Patner that does help thanks,I'm sold on the kral, I wanted to know spring size and seal so I can order a vortek upgrade and custom guides,tophat lube tune,the whole shabang all at the same time and get her shooting good right out of the box

Sure. You may want to hold off on the piston seal then, just until you can get it out of the gun and measure to verify it's size. Definitely like the Vortek products though, can't go wrong with them.
