Dear friends and colleagues!
This is my way of saying goodbye and thank you to an airline which has shape and impacted many lives of my fellow colleagues and passengers.
Airberlin has been operating for over 38 years. The company was well known for it´s flights to Palma de Mallorca and other famous holiday destinations whilst the passengers enjoyed the service on board by our flight attendants.
I´ve been flying for Airberlin nearly 8 years, and I´ve had the time of my life. Airberlin was my ticket to the airline industry, being a Skydiving and Executive pilot. I was welcomed with open arms, got a fantastic type rating on the Airbus A320 family and was supervised by pilots who had 20 years of experience. What more could you ask for!
I loved going to work, with captains who I owe a lot of gratitude and cabin crews I highly respected.
The kindness within the crew was one of kind and I think back to hilarious layovers at various destinations.
But this chapter of my life and of many other colleagues has sadly come to end.
I´m looking for to exciting future, in the cockpit seat of another airline and I will always look back with a smile as I think about the time I´ve had with Airberlin.

I'm really going to miss them. Whenever I have to fly from Berlin or Dusseldorf to the states I always go air Berlin (if I can) as they offered exactly what I needed great seats, great food, great flight. But now I'm going to have to pick between one of the US carriers who have never really appealed to me especially not on 767 planes, Eurowings which doesn't have business class or go via somewhere else. I'm really sad to see them go. I loved you to the end and I wish it could've been longer. All I have left to say is Air Berlin, farewell. I hope to see your legacy living on throughout the airline industry and through the lives of the people you moved around the world. Goodbye Air Berlin. You were always my airline.

For me, Air Berlin was always there when major things in my life happened. I'll never forget my first ever flight, which made my fall in love with flying, my first ever long haul flight and the flight I took when I moved to spain, all with them. Never any bad experiences. I miss them dearly.

Capt Joe, you must be the best ambassador any airline has had! Since the cockpit became an isolated drivers seat after necessary security measures, the human touch was lost. You have made great strides bringing those who love to fly and who are interested in all aspects of aircraft and crew together again. Thank you for keeping me entertained and informed. Is difficult to say goodbye when most of the best moments were on board of an airline, shows the true love about being a comercial pilot and sharing all of your knowledge and passion for it; the mix of a images and beautiful music makes me feel kinda sad about Air Berlin because is always difficult not to remember all the memories when fliying and all the colleagues working together to deliver the best customer service to all the passengers that flew with you, thank you for everything that you made on board, the passion once again, the knowledge and always the smile Captain Joe, congratulations for being such an amaizing pilot as all the rest of your fellow colleagues, greeting from Mexico City.

Hi Joe, thanks for the beautiful video! As a ramp agent, I had the honour to coordinate the last turnaround of any Air Berlin flight ever to take off yesterday evening. I saw lots of tears but I remember the purser's last message when she told me that we'll see again for sure (just before she locked the cabin door). Aviation is a big family and we always wjll be united. You and your colleagues made our work special every day and I cannot imagine that this era has come to an end. I wanted to be a pilot in my life, I dreamed of flying an airplane since I am 10 but cannot fulfill my dream because of financial issues. Now I am 36. But I still have zeal to fly so I decided to make my younger daughter a pilot as she is very brave ( my elder daughter is very afraid of everything 😊 ). Your videos are very informative and clarified many doubts which I used to have. Thank you Captain Joe for your videos. I hope you will have a better life and career with other airlines

It's never to early or to late, it's probably the greatest job out there, trust me, i thought i couldnt do it, but i always loved it! then i just say, skrew it, ill go take a discoverey flight, and then, all of a sudden i was on my career path! I loved Air Berlin. It was my first flight abroad from MOW to TXL. It was very comfortable and surprisingly affordable. And these pieces of chocolate were perfect. RIP.

Sad to see them go. I've only flown them twice and while the cabin was obviously rather cramped being a LLC on a 60 minute flight, I found that the crew were the friendliest I've had in a LLC.

Das Video habe ich noch garnicht gesehen bis jetzt und musste direkt weinen. Vermisse es für Airberlin zu fliegen. Man hat mir so viel beigebracht und so viel Selbstvertrauen gegeben. Ich werde nie vergessen we vie ich lernen durfte und wie die Airline an mich geglaubt hat und ich Senior werden durfte auf der Dash reihe. Auch wenn das die LGW war am ende, war Airberlin trotzdem die marke die mich durch Europa getragen hat und ich danke dafür sehr das ich Teil dieser legendären Flugline sein drufte die niemand je Vergessen wird weil WIR die Airline mit Herz waren, und auch immer dadruch erkennbar sein werden. Egal wo wir Fliegen

Hey_ItzHolly. I actually read it from another comment on the last non-workout video he posted. Anyway, last month, there was news that Lufthansa was snatching up Air Berlin pilots (probably as part of their acquisition of Air Berlin assets). Reuters did a story about it. On October 5, Joe posted a pic on Instagram of the tail end of a A320. The livery is obviously Eurowings. On October 21, he posted another pic on Instagram. Cabin crew gave him some brownies as a pre-take-off treat. The brownies are sitting on a Eurowings-branded napkin. Of course, Joe could be moving to another airline (it's not unusual for companies going belly up to make deals with the parties buying their assets to temporarily provide work for their employees to ease the transition), but we do know that he's at least been flying Eurowings jets.

Joe, find a job at a big airline that will not shut down for a while. Like Emirates for example. At takeoff I am sometimes scared. I look out of the window and the plane is climbing so steeply I am scared it would stall. But if I know that you have control then I will not even look out. But I do understand you. 8 years is a long time with an airline and now they have stopped. Good luck in finding a new job!

Boreynorthwind why the hell you would be scared of another pilot?..dude..they have almost the same training..he has only 8 years of flying..maybe your pilot had 20...can t really compare the experience of the pilot of 20 years with one with 8 years of piloting..

I am sure it's the dream of every pilot to get a job at a real airline but Emirates certainly isn't one of those!

He's certified for the A320 and he is german, so I'd say some Lufthansa group airline...like Eurowings, Austrian, Swiss or even Lufthansa itself
