Wow, Jesse, fantastic job! I would be curious as to how the homeowners feel about not having an overhang after one year. My first thought was rainwater pouring down all those windows and the cedar siding might have them rethinking their no-overhang choice. Just a thought.

I came here to watch the construction, and I stayed for the incredible, majestic scenery. :) Looks better than many movie backdrops--which are all, naturally, perfect what with being matte paintings. Nice. I did lower the sound to near zero, though. Miss the spoken dialog, but realized there were text notes, so that was good.

I too was wondering about the "no overhangs" specification. What did you do to prevent ice dams and water backup in the future? You guys do a lot of stick framed roofs (and do them well), which we rarely see down here in Florida. In NJ, that is about all we did. I was building a storage shed down here and was laying out the rafters with a framing square. A friend, who was helping me, had never seen that done before.

Because of purlins, even if the screws leak, the water will fall on foam and drain off (and zip board).. what a brilliant idea! unvented roof.. super airtight. This is what I will do for my next build (right here in Greene county). Older carpenter should learn from tech savvy new crops like Jesse. I have learned the hard way. I will def. give you a call.

@sawdustmaker494 жыл бұрын
jesse, a couple of questions. how much more would a full basement have cost as compared to the crawl space? where is the access to the crawl space? did using the prosoco joint and seam sealer on the roof have any effect on the zip warrenty? by the way, I like the way you construct a building!
@jmuller864 жыл бұрын
we hit a few spots of rock right at 4ft so a full basement was a crapshoot, zip actually has their own liquid seam sealer but I dont think it makes much difference if you use it or not. I will probably use this stuff on every project that requires it, it works good
@the808rambla55 жыл бұрын
I didn’t mind the jams. The construction looks superb. Looking forward to your drone skills becoming as smooth as your operating skills. Also I liked the subtitles. Maybe leave them up just a tab bit longer. Also some dubbed in cometary wouldn’t hurt. Any who. Thumbs up

I agree on both parts. The comments were not there long enough to read sometimes, and even when they were I couldn't see the pic/video because I was reading. Had to do a lot of pausing. Dubbed in commentary would have let me view the pics/video while listening to the important extra information. Good video though with good content. Appreciate the effort to put it out there.

I have been designing custom doors and windows for about 13 years now and the flashing methods keep changing. I like this product the best so far. much better than folding the house wrap in and using the bitchithane tape. The only thing its missing is tiger hair! lol There is a video on here of a guy that built a house incredibly similar to this one, but on a slab and he used steel posts and rafters (one piece) every 10' or so with tabs welded that he ran his lumber to and fastened. He used a lot of new products and techniques. Both houses, yours and his are amazing and seem insanely tight! Very nice!

Well, the next day I wasn't thinking and walked on that particleboard and went right through the sucker just missing a stepladder inches away from where I fell.
