Hey guys! First attempt on this channel at a tutorial. Sorry if the editing is a little rough and pretty bland. I'm only new to editing videos and I need to learn more. Just don't have the time.

Thank you for taking the time to make a tutorial on this, by far one of the better ones I've seen. You say that you wait a couple of hours in between layers, could this be sped up by heat curing the layers? or would the paint lift when pulling off the cling wrap the second time?
@MetalGearKirin5 жыл бұрын
You're more than welcome mate. I have tried to speed up the process many ways and the method you mentioned does effect the layers of paint underneath unfortunately. However, by all means, you can give it a try and you might work out a way that it can be done! Good luck and thanks for the kind words =)

Its a pretty ambutious project for my first time hand painting but the helmet I'm working on will have to probably be airbrushed in order to get the result I need. Do you think this tech could be acheived painting with a brush?
@MetalGearKirin4 жыл бұрын
@@420Pikachu yep! There are several tutorials on KZfaq to attain this finish via hand painting. I just used the airbrush as it is easier for me that's all =)

I love this effect! my question would be say I want the final finished paint job to be thin so the detail of the model still shows but still have the same amount of complexity of this effect. Do I need to sand them in between layers or just apply a thinner coat each time rather than spraying it to almost pooling? And do you have more airbrush paint effect tricks you want to share?
@MetalGearKirin5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words mate. So, the final paint job turns out fairly thin still considering the amount of paint needed. I never experienced lacked of details in areas which have detailing so you should be fine. Test it on scrap first and if you're unhappy with the thickness a sanding shouldn't hurt just as long as its very light. I'd recommend sanding the clear coats. Haha I might. Not so much airbrushing as there are plenty of tutorials on KZfaq. Perhaps maybe a scratch build vlog.

My mum lives 6 hrs away from me. Will any cling wrap do or do I need to go and get hers?
@snakeeat3r274 жыл бұрын
Great great tutorial. Question though. How did u get the layer smooth after removing the wrap. Wouldnt it be bumpy after removing it?
@MetalGearKirin4 жыл бұрын
Leonar de Guzman Thanks! Yes the paint layer is slightly bumpy. However, when the gloss coat is applied the bumpy layers are then removed as the gloss coat fills in the bumps.

i just want to ask if you need to dry for a couple of days each layer?or after it dries you put another layer?
@MetalGearKirin6 жыл бұрын
No no! The only layer I make sure is dry, is the primed surface. The white layer is wet when I apply the first blue clear coat. I then wait a few hours to apply the next coat (silver) and then apply the clear blue straight away after that. I wait another hour or so before applying the clear coat.

Is it possible to achieve a marble-camouflage effect with this technique?
@MetalGearKirin4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm can't say! I'd be lying if I said yes or no as I haven't tried marble-camo. In saying this I don't see how it wouldn't work?

How much or at all do you think the clear blue?
@MetalGearKirin4 жыл бұрын
I don't thin it that much as clears don't need to be thinned a lot.
@haruna66044 жыл бұрын
Mate, do you thinn ur clear blue or nah?
@MetalGearKirin4 жыл бұрын
I do but only a little. It is already slightly thinner than other paints, being a clear.
