I found it funny when the pilot said "Out of the box" - I stopped for a second, imagining how huge such a box would theoretically be if we were to take the saying literally.

The A220 is not a genuine Airbus, but a Bombardier project which runned out of money and than rescued by Airbus

An amazing aircraft… I flew the on the A220-300 for the first time on JetBlue MKE-JFK and back, there was a significant difference in the airline and the aircraft from I’m used to 👍

I wonder what most pilots prefer, the old analog buttons interface or this 'mouse' scrolling through menus interface.

For me its better to have conventional buttons and no touchscreens on an airplane. Unfortunatedly the current trend nowadays seems to prioritize "looks" over functionality. They are designing flight decks to look clean and neat disregarding that it might not necesarily be the best for a pilot. Less cluster is not necesarily best. For example, I currently fly the E190 and in this airplane if you want to switch frecuencies (com or nav) there is no dedicated switch for that. You need to do it trough the MCDU (the airplane FMS). So now, instead of just directly accessing a dedicated knob/switch or controller, you have to navigate to a page on the FMS to do it. (There is a way to do it with a knob however you can only switch frecuencies on your side). This trend seems to be agravating and know everything is just getting more and more concentrated on less and less screens/knobs/switches which I think, is not good cockpit ergonomics.

The control interface with that central pedestal display seems super cumbersome...

You wouldn't be thinking that if you knew how many steps you would have to do in a conventional cockpit to get the information provided on that screen. the difference is that you could see it all in a glance. It is the exact opposite of what you think.

1 second ago Just announced today AIRBUS purchased majority interest in the CS planes from Bombardier. This will save the CS plane since Bombardier was near bankrupt :)

My question is? It's cool and all what you showed and explained but what do you do in the event of a magnetic pulse attack that kills all of your electrical equipment?

Hi. As you can see, there are old magnetic instruments in the middle and ths flyby wire would switch.

29C... you trying to melt people lol,,, airbus made a mistake on the autopilot layout i think,,, they put the speed setting to the far left,,, normal spot for the hdg display,,, it should have been put to the far right as it is used less and not to be confused with hdg numbers being side by side

What is a "technical pilot"?
@Fuzzymonkey0
@Fuzzymonkey0 7 жыл бұрын
Usually there is a line pilot who also is responsible for knowing a great deal of information about the aircraft type, more so than most normal line pilots. He's there to help with any questions crew have regarding the aircraft technically and to be involved with any upgrades and changes that take place with the fleet. That's basically it in a nutshell.
