I personally think you should start a new map. Since you already have several current designs in the game it should be super easy to run through the DWG. If you continue this map I highly expect you’ll miss out on fighting at least two factions, if not more. Of course it’s completely up to you and we’ll love your content anyways!

Tip for carriers: They are absolutely _huge,_ way bigger than the carrier you have made. Try referencing something like the Nimitz Class, and use the jets on the deck for scale.

This video was like milk and honey for my soul. Before continuing the video I must have heard the intro 5 times 0:00. Lathrix describing his stopping cog wheel brain was hilarious 7:51. And his quick change of mind about nuke bobbleheads was just delightful 17:30. And it's always nice to see the creativity of the destroyer of worlds in its full capacity when Lathrix is designing new warfare applications. All praise the Frog Tower!

Fuel and ammo as resources to share between vehicles will be removed - instead, materials will be converted on-the-fly to supply engines and guns through fuel and ammo boxes - this also comes with a much-needed streamlining of logistics CIWS will be more accurate and useful (and targets CRAMs as well) - kinetic CIWS are valid Armor stacking is effectively removed - there are changes to armor & health values to blocks to balance this change - small craft will no longer be as stupidly frail as they used to Tell me things I missed in replies. Lathland is a madlad. Does 60 hrs of stellaris video which he somehow condenses into 2 hrs. Then condenses what looks like to me, a 12 hour project, in 18 mins this video. People don't realise how much of a timesink FTD is until they look at their clock and see that 4 hours have passed and you've only been building and tuning your aps. 4 more hours pass with you just working on the perfect curve for the front and back of your ship, then you test your ship, armour it up, propulsion, manage resources. And then you look at the cost and feel like scrapping it because you can't even hope to spawn it in the beginning of neter

Greetings Lord Lathrix, The carrier design has ease the minds of our Dart pilots, knowing they can now operate anywhere without having to worry about running out of fuel. In my opinion, the idea to start an aircraft carrier project was an excellent choice. Even tho they were meant to be expendable, I would like to remind you that we do not have the same resource output like we did during the Empire. Resources are more scarce and every bit of it must be used wisely. While not now, the production of this carrier is a must as soon as possible. I also advise we should test to see if our bomber prototype is capable of launching off its deck. PS: I must also inform that {cooperation name} is getting rather impatient and would like to see the production of their Heretic-class battle cruiser started as soon as possible.

See, I think that having such a large craft is awesome in FTD. Don't worry about "not being realistic" Lath, that's the whole thing about FTD! You can make super large ships viable, no matter the shape!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ CAUTION ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ FTD v 2.8.7 changes the way resource transferring from one vehicle to another works -- the vehicle sending the material needs to have at least one million material storage capacity. Fuel and ammo are also drastically changed -- fuel engines (and custom jet engines) and weapons now use materials directly. Fuel containers and ammo boxes now count as (explosive) material storage, with each box increasing the amount of material per second fuel engines and weapons can use.

I, like a few other people, would like to see you try the next update with a new map. I think it'd be fantastic! As for your carrier, you mentioned making it a mobile base, with construction yards and fuel refineries and ammo manufacturing and resource collection... It reminded me of the "Mora" carrier from Starsector, which is a rather funny-looking ship (it's wider than it is long!) but has a lot of similar uses, especially in the lore of that game. Also, submarine drones. I like that idea. In fact, I like the idea that this mobile base doesn't fight on its own, it just BUILDS things that fight its enemies instead of doing the heavy lifting! Who needs guns when you have MINIONS! GLORIOUS MINIONS!

I don't know a ton about carriers, but one thing I do know is that they launch planes via launching them forward like a ballista fires its bolts. The mechanism is called a catapult, and, if you can build one in the carrier, I think it would work quite well.

Lathrix, a word about the beta. it changes the ammo and fuel mechanics drastically. Ammo makers will be gone, and ammo and fuel blocks simply provide access to material storage. it works like this: if you have a weapon (an APS cannon) it uses ammo. BUT now there is no ammo resource, instead your weapon directly consumes materials. but it cant just take the materials from a material storage container. it needs an ammo box. this weapon at peak demand uses 200 materials per minute. but one ammo box only allows 60 materials per minute. you need to add more ammo boxes to provide ammo to your big boy gun. this is the same for fuel engines, but with fuel tanks. also if u have ammo makers in your blueprint they're replaced with 2m storage blocks instead

Even though there were not enough explosions to satisfy a itch it was still good to have a creative jam on aircraft carriers. I do really love this game and it's creative use of military. These kind of video's scratch an itch for wanting to build so I'll go crack a few more planets in stellaris now for some more cathartic explosions.

Hi Lathland, I'm a long time viewer, you should add a main AA cannon and a couple smaller AA cannons. You should also add torpetos to the front where the gap is.

I liked the video to appease the Frog God. Also, this is an interesting change in approach to building. I'm sure some of the more OCD realistic builders can find a lot of problems with it, but I like it.

Great another episode of FtD. Really love it when you play the game, idk it's kinda relaxing and fun to watch. I think you could start with some simple weapons on deck and increase as time goes on and tougher/mor agile foes appear, mirroring how the US-Carriers started ramping up their AA-ordnance, as the japanese started more aggressive bombing tactics and kamikaze attacks.

Personally, I like the start so I wouldn't mind you starting again!

All Praise the Frog tower! Love the frog, you should try to find a way to keep it, it will terrify your enemies.

I really like what you've done with this build, this is pretty much how I would have laid out the top deck. That said, I think that you'd get more use out of it if you increased the freeboard to keep waves from sweeping across the flight deck and give you space to add a gallery or two with point defense weapons below the flight deck level so they don't interfere with anything else topside.

You should name this thing “The Toad.” Because why not.

Loving the style of the carrier! If there is a suitable frog or swamp god I think you should name it so XD Style: I realise it is far from finished, but I think It might look better sitting higher in the water. Might just be me, but I find carriers that sit too low in the water look weird. That being said the "mouth" being a sub spawner sounds insanely cool! Weapons: As a mother ship base thing I like the idea of it being purely defensive. Maybe a more strategic weapon system like a long range mine deployer? Frog: I think it is funny, so I'd keep it! XD However, I think only having the ones on the sides so you can make the front and back fit the ship better. Map: if there isn't another one coming for a while then i'd update the map, we haven't got that far in the campaign anyways and I'd hate to miss out on the white flayers ships :) Nukes: For launching the nukes I think having the launch area slung under the end of the diagonal runway might look cool. Otherwise if you want a challenge maybe a faux catapult that throws them off of the ship? sorta like a rail launcher on the front Adoring the series so far! It is soo fun to watch!

I am no expert, but I don't think there would be construction on deck. The deck is an incredibly dangerous place as is, very strict regulations on who can move where(much like an airport really), no need to put a bunch of people there building stuff. I'd imagine most of the construction would be below the deck in the hangar. There certainly won't be rubble. Planes are landing there, a single piece of metal laying in the wrong place could kill someone. The only reason why there would be half a plane and a bunch of rubble would probably be when a plane came in at the wrong angle and crashed on the deck.

You know, I've noticed that no FtD craft are _ever_ as big as a real world ship of similar classification would be. A properly sized battleship, for example... one the size of the _Iowa, Bismark,_ or _Yamato..._ would dwarf anything in the game currently. Even the biggest ships I've seen have the displacement and fire-power of. The Iowa has 9x 16" cannons, 20x 5" cannons, and a shitload of quad-40mm and quad-20mm AA emplacements, as of '43. After the refit in '84 it gave up some of the AAA and 5" guns in exchange for enough missiles to ruin the day of an entire city.
