Would you like to learn how to design an unmanned, radio-controlled aircraft using revolutionary cloud-native simulation software?
SimScale and the American Institute of Astronautics and Aeronautics joined forces to offer a workshop about the application of engineering simulation in unmanned aircraft design. In the first session, we study the aerodynamics of an aircraft in order to increase lift and decrease drag.
SimScale is a 100% cloud-based simulation platform. Try CFD, FEA, or Thermal Analysis by creating a free account: hubs.la/Q01lJ_Np0

Around the 00:35:00 mark this guy was having so much trouble deciding what he wanted to say that it became nearly impossible to follow his train of thought. I just gave up honestly, I know you guys mean well with this, but a language barrier can become counterproductive when it's this bad. Besides, he showed plots and didn't even explain what they were before he started referencing them.

I understand your point but in my opinion his english was pretty good. It is no wonder that in a long presentation someone would struggle with words at some point. In this case he got on trails quite fast. Saying that the language barrier is bad in this case is an unfair statement.

Yeah I know what you mean. But he's not that bad. At least it's a video. I had a math teacher in college and she just no..... We had trouble following her into a like highschool into college carry-over course. And I felt like I didn't belong but really it was just too intense the math and how she showed and about how quickly she just moved on to a new concept that required that previous knowledge omg. And with the high schoolers having just left and coming into college you can't really ask them questions especially in a like intermediate course. It was stupid in this specific scenario -.-

The aerodynamics would be simple and almost perfect if the aircraft had a push and pull two engine tandem configuration. The wings should be as close to a delta shape as possible. And the design could be the absolute best.

@@ubonginyang1889 ... What do you need help and/or guidance with? If you want examples of this particular configuration take a look at the Adam 500, the Moynet 360 Jupiter, and the Cessna Skymaster; for military aircraft you can reference the Dornier Do 335, Cessna O-2A, and the Tachikawa KI 94 I.

The authors have two wrong scientific approaches: researching the creation of Lift force and Low pressure at upper side of the wing, relative to the ground surface and Earth. I explain the aerodynamic cavitation and existence of Lee side aerocavern, and creation of Aerodynamic force.

This was so irritating I had to quit. The plan for the presentation was fine. Unfortunately, the presenter talked about capabilities he wasn't demonstrating at a pace that was unintelligible. He started with a completely meshed model, the creation of which was a major purpose for the video. You may have more patience than I, but I'd recommend a pass on this one.

Your workshop is called "Aircraft Design Workshop" however you show nothing else than how to run a 3D-CFD-simulation. To me designing something is about creating geometry models based on physics, empirical correlations, or whatever.

Hi Ralph! Keep in mind that this is also a video to show how to properly set up Boundary Conditions and that we have out emphasis on that in particular. I agree that there is more to Aircraft Design and it would probably take several videos until we end up with a simulation. I guess you can even do an entire video/course on how lift is generate :) If you have any wishes when it comes to theory, please let me know. Maybe I can implement that in one of my videos if you like - open for suggestions! Enjoy your day! Jousef

Alright, no offence, but I think I would rather team myself the host's native language and have him explain this in his native language because it is getting to be next to impossible for me to follow what's going on as the video goes on.

Hi James! We have to make sure that users grasp the concept behind the "clicks" to understand why one should do it that way and not the other way. Using software without physical knowledge is not recommended. If you would like to have specific topics covered in future webinars, please let us know in the forum. Best, Jousef
