My provider said to NOT do this daily or it would cause the parts to break down quickly. Plus it’s excessive and far too time consuming. He is not only a provider/nurse but has been on a CPAP for 15 years so I trust his advice.

@@anxietyatomYes once is week is the way to go. Resmed is notorious for misleading customers so that your mask break on wear or tear. And they infact make the product more fragile so that it gets damaged and we buy a new one.

You are suppose to clean your airfit f20 mask once weekly and use cpap wipes to clean mask daily.

Thank you. So much more informative than the ResMed site. They keep showing how to clean the straps & that's supposed to inform you of how to take care of the ENTIRE MASK! People like me who are just starting out don't get the necessary instructions from the website NOR the pamphlet

Should say "How to excessively clean your mask daily." Most people will never clean their mask daily let alone like this OCD video. Strive for using a CPAP mask wipe every night and a good wash every week or two.

Couldnt agree more… If I had to do the routine in this video everyday I wouldn’t use the mask. I do the unscented baby-wipe and water change everyday, with a weekly cleaning of mask/tube and water chamber.

Exaclty. I'm not doing this every single day. Plus I only have one mask. I don't think the side arms would dry in time to be able to use it that same night.

If you don't do this early in the morning, it'll never dry by time for bed. Especially the gray rubber parts, I found out.

Unfortunately this much cleaning every single day will discourage some sleep apnea sufferers from buying or sticking with CPAP. I procrastinated for a very long time from replacing my old F10 mask with this F20 mask because of these maintenance videos. I'm able to spend the ~15 minutes of daily cleaning for now because of the pandemic lockdown.

the brushing seems excessive, i just have a small plastic bin with a cover that is filled with water/antibacterial dawn dish soap and just drop the parts in there and let it soak. Unless you have something like strep throat, I don't think the brushing is doing anything a simple soak with soap can't handle.

Great so I soaked my elbow section in water just like the video. now the little exhale ring foam filter won't dry :(((

Seems a little excessive. I wash my mask daily with SEVENTH GENERATION NATURAL DISH LIQUID. It is fragrance free and non-toxic. I've used it for over 5 years with great success. I found it at Kroger, but it is probably at most grocery stores. Then once a week, on Sunday (so I can remember :) ) I wash and sanitize the mask, tube, and water chamber. Once a month I soak the headgear in Woolite.. It works for me.

Clean them, yes okay i had 5 five of them now and all 5 stop working and leak at the elbow joint every time i clean them. Last one all i did was rinse under the tap the mask and the elbow now leak WHY?

What the heck!? I have always used hot / warm water and hand bar soap, give a good cleaning on all surfaces by hand and dry it with my rooms box fan. (Daily) I am new to this mask and fittings so am hoping I don't have to strap it down like a mattress on a car roof so it won't leak.

Hi Ed, We can't speak to your cleaning method other than restating that the instructions in the video and found in your User Guide are the method we recommend. As for fitting your new F20 mask, your DME should be able to assist with that, so the mask is as comfortable as possible without risking a leak. Can you please define what "mild soap" means (e.i. dish soap)? Can you use a vinegar and water solution? If so, what ratio?

I've been using baby shampoo to clean mine. That's what my provider had said I could use.

This really inspired me... to stop using my cpap. Actually I'll just stick with common sense. Plus let Medicare replace my gear every few months.

Does this mean the “arms” of the mask at 0:23 are water-safe? It looks like you soaked them in hot water, which is what I’d like to do.

Hi Tyler, yes the framing for the AirFit F20 are water-safe. Per the user guide, handwash your mask and headgear by gently rubbing in warm (approximately 86°F/30°C) water using mild liquid detergent. Rinse all components well under running water and allow to air dry out of direct sunlight.

Hi Tomas, This video is for the AirFit (silicone) version of the F20 mask. The silicone material on the AirFit version can be submerged in water, however, you are correct that the memory foam on the AirTouch version requires different maintenance and care which is why a separate video for that model was created.

Does anybody do all this on a daily schedule ? I doubt it very much, I use a universal wipe daily and a good wash every 7-10 days

no instruction on how to get the mask apart. I think we can figure the cleaning part out. How does the front piece come off????

It's hard to believe that Resmed makes a video titled, "How to clean. your mask daily," yet the video itself only shows the headgear being cleaned! Aside from the fact that I've never heard of anyone who actually cleans their equipment daily, most people who bother cleaning at all focus on the mask and tubing, i.e., the parts that connect the machine to your nose, and NOT the headgear. 🙄

Thanks for reaching out to us. We can only recommend cleaning your equipment as listed in your product's user guide. The only sanitizing item we would recommend using to clean your mask and tubing is a mild liquid detergent such as (but not limited to) unscented baby shampoo or dish soap.

I was told the silicon part of the mask should not be put in water or washed with water or it will lose ability to seal.

Hi dmbrew54 - Regular cleaning is an important part of maximizing the lifespan of your mask cushion. Silicone mask cushions are recommended to be washed with a mild soap and water solution after each use. The AirTouch F20 memory foam cushion specifically is the only ResMed-brand cushion which cannot be exposed to water.

john thomas I bought several months ago the VirtuClean machine and have worked for me perfectly. Also, from time to time, before using the cleaning machine, I use a sterilized wipe

i just use a soapy washcloth with hot water. There's no reason to clean it that excessively every day. It's not like I'm taking it into a coal mine.

onepcwhiz can I ask why? I've seen nothing but great reviews. I just purchased mine today. It's what I used in the sleep study and it was very comfortable and quiet.

I love the Airtouch mask. You're just not supposed to submerge it in water as it will disintegrate. Directly from the Resmed website -- "No soap, no water - a quick wipe down with non-alcoholic wipes keeps the memory foam clean."

If you have the memory foam cushion (rather than the silicone cushion), then you do not want to submerge it in water because it will damage the memory foam.

This isn't the Full Face Mask.. This is just the nose piece style.

To avoid damage to your mask (and possibly the machine itself), DO NOT use a dishwasher or washing machine to clean the mask. Always follow the cleaning instructions as listed in the user guide (linked here: bit.ly/4028omf
