Wonderful stuff. Takes me back to my early days in Edinburgh, when every penny was spent on model aircraft, paints etc. Happy days never to return although your video is very close! Thank you. Justin in case any modelmaker from 1960’s Edinburgh sees this, do you recall a wonderful wee hobby shop in Duke Street, Leith called Central Woodcraft? Long since gone sadly.

I had that exact catalogue, fabulous stuff! It's such a pity Airfix don't make many of those models anymore. I've been into planes since the early 70's, and to see the airliners like the VC-10 and Trident, Caravelle, 707, and the military jets like the Mirage, Lightning and phantom - wow. And then the WWII planes, I built the He 1-11, B17, B-29, Lancaster, Ju-52, Liberator and Sterling, all hanging by cotton thread form my bedroom ceiling. Those were the days, thanks for bringing back so many fantastic memories!

Wow 1968 i was 2 years old, i can clearly remember back in the day early seventies my Gran had a collection of Airfix historical figures on display in her house which her brother (my great uncle malcolm) made for her, as a little boy who loved his action man & matchbox toys i was always in awe of those amazing model figures, takes me right back thanks for posting👍

Also the Krazy carectors were reissued in the 90s by someone else-i will look it up to see who.i picked one up at the time and have it here somewhere.

@@MOS6510Models That Revell cat 1967 ive same one found with my kits in loft, The american 6x6 truck was my all time favourite built many times, Sadly cannot find one today, Memories what could we do without them.

Good you kept that old kit you made- i wish i had some of mine. Ive over the last few recent years started collecting the reissues of the early kits- AEC, E type, MG, Quad, half track etc etc. Ive got a small pile of the Airfix mags too which i think i found at a boot fair in the 90s im not sure now. Also ive got a few sections of the slot car track in there boxes.

Yes, ive boxes of old kits, in poor paint work too.. i dont keep them all mind, some get damaged over the years..

Airfix were kind of sneaky changing the Westland Lysander to Series 2 in later years with no change to the mould or transfers.

MOS6510 Models, just to answer your question about the Krazy Karacters i actual did one of the kits back in the 70's It was the motor cycle one call Ton up Tony , it was a basically it was Airfix's Ariel Arrow with a over character call "tony who was made to look a 60's "ton up boy Greaser/biker hence the term Ton -up mean to go over the 100 mph barrier , it was a good little kit , i also did the BSA C15 , Again another good little kit which i had fun building and as a joke with my biker friends who had real C15's , the only BSA C15 not to leak oil ...lol

Thats great info. I Have the BSA C15 from airfix in the stash.. any idea what decals that came with it? this one sadly doesn't have them in the box so didn't know if they came with them or not... Cheers

@@MOS6510Models Hi Mozz , just to back to you yes it did have decals for the BSA C15 ( both back and front number plate letters for Front and rear number plates and tank and oi tank decals which if i remember correctly were a red oval shape with a white star in with BSA across it and for the oil tank 3 rifles upright leaning against each other with BSA on it and i think a gold strip used for a oil level mark , i have got a picture of the decals , but think i need a normal email address as i don't think i can add a attachment here

This catalogue poses an insurmountable riddle: in 1967/8, all boxes were well in the "red band" / Type 3 era. Yet we are shown an "Aer Lingus" F-27 Friendship which, as far as I know, was never issued in such a box. Or wasn't it? A Roy Cross F-27 in Aer Lingus livery must be something of a modelling Holy Grail! Any info? Apart from that, the amateurish construction of some of these models is striking: The production team couldn't be bothered to even sand the huge fuselage joint in the B-29, let alone painting the whole damned thing! Pretty sloppy, don't you think?

@@MOS6510Models Hi Matt This is easier to answer than you would think matt The kits in the catalogue were made at point of when they were released so why should Airfix build another kit just because the kit has been released in a new box and new livery. It was in Air Lingus livery when it was released in a type 2 box in 1960 but by 1968 it was in the Braathens livery.

good health to you my englishe friends, let me pass you up, all of you fellow! forgive englishe it is very carzy, i am estonia in estonia we have very nice television show, it call ‘street goat’, it about goat, solve crime with human sidekick arcadius street goat have own car, and few year ago it became possible in estonia to buy model kit of this car, driven by street goat. now, I have anger supreme because i never buy this car when in shop, but now model not made no more! so, here is my precisiveness, when you see model that you like so nice, you buy model NOW.
