One thing I noticed on my recent flight is the airplane seats and armrests are way cleaner than they used to be. Prior to Covid I’d take w disinfecting wipe and the wipe would turn black from the dirt and grime on the tray table and arm rests. On my recent flight, the wipe looked clean. I hope they keep this up, but I’m doubtful.

I had a public health doc come to be a guest lecturer in my microbiology course in grad school. His lecture really highlighted just how bleak it is becoming from a public health stand point. This pandemic is so much more complicated than ppl realize and the fact that it turned political will be a detriment to us for generations.

I mean obviously the White House could have contested the ruling (Trump did it like a billion times), but they simply chose not to. So putting the onus of this decision on one judge does seem kind of unfair. It was just kinda the first opportunity they had to change the status quo. That being said, you really should go check out the judge who made the ruling, a Judge Mizelle. It is both sad and hilarious just how badly she misunderstood the issue before the court. For example, she ruled that 'sanitation' only applies to skin?

I don't understand how some decisions need to be made by majority of congress but a SINGLE Federal judge with an opinion can have this much power. We need to change the system. It's not about this specific decision, a single judge can't have that power.
@fastlane2942
@fastlane2942 2 жыл бұрын
It was a CDC policy that exceeded its authority, not a majority of congress. Everyone on a plane could come from an NBA game sitting side by side with no mask, but be required to mask up upon entering the airport because....science - right? Or did you mean these judges??? 1. Judge orders Trump administration to halt its practice of “expelling” underage migrants who enter the United States without a parent. 2. Federal judge halts use of health order to expel migrant families along the border. 3. A federal judge temporarily suspended a Trump administration policy that allowed state and local authorities to opt out of receiving refugees. As frustrating as our constitutional republic system can be at times, it's the best county on earth.

The mandate on flights made no sense to begin with. Masks could be taken off to eat or drink while one’s still within inches of other people. The virus does not stop to be contagious for those few seconds or minutes. If someone had covid germs on their breath, the window of opportunity is there for the few mins that people eat with their masks off. If people want to feel safe by wearing a mask-by all means. But those who don’t want to wear a mask should not be forced to.

I always wear mask on flights even before Covid. THIS. In February 2020 I was on a crowded bus going to work and noted the number of people coughing and sneezing without covering their mouths. It was just nasty and I felt kind of disgusted being stuck on that bus. People in Asia have been wearing masks when sick to avoid spreading it to others for years. But in the US in the middle of a pandemic all some people can think about is "muh rights." I'm tempted to keep wearing a mask and carrying antiseptic wipes on public transit (when I can't outright avoid using it) just because people are nasty.

Amber... The point is that the Covid numbers are starting to rise again with the Omicron subvariant BA.2 and the powers that be think now is a great idea to stop mask mandates for the airlines where people are crammed together like sardines & breathing recycled air for long periods of time. If someone on that plane has Covid but doesn't wear a mask, then everyone else on the plane will be exposed to Covid whether they wear a mask or not. If I am one of a few people on that same plane who IS wearing a mask, I have a 70% chance of getting sick with Covid... so 30% less than those not wearing a mask at all. If EVERYONE wears a mask, then everyone on the plane's risk of catching Covid becomes 5%. That's the point... masks work best if everybody is wearing them, especially in an enclosed environment like a plane. If I'm going to a store with a mask on & no one else is wearing one. It is my choice to go in & I can control where I go & how long I stay. I can't control any of that inside an airplane. I'm dependant on the integrity & goodwill of the other passengers. That is not a choice.

My son went to Norway in March for a week. He spent time in 9 different airports in that week. He was tested a couple of times for the flights and always tested negative. A day after he returned home, symptoms started. He went to urgent care and tested positive for Covid. And he had worn his mask everyday. I believe he picked covid up in one of those 9 airports. So be careful. It's still out there.

I really hope he recovers, but what do you expect traveling through NINE airports during a pandemic?! I traveled thru two airports and caught it, I can’t imagine 9. I wore my mask everyday too.

COVID has an average 99.9997% survival rate (adjusted for age group). Masks and so-called "vaccines" don't work, everyone will eventually get it.

I would feel so incredibly uncomfortable and violated if I had entered a place thinking everyone would be wearing masks and then all of a sudden I'm trapped in a sealed place with a hundred maskless people.
