The only time I have ever been arrested was as a teenager for sleeping on the sidewalk because I had a fight with my parents and decided to run off. I had no idea it was a crime, but the night in jail was the most miserable one in my life. Antihomeless laws are cruel

EXACTLY. Now imagine the children that don't go home because their parents are on drugs. Is going home really the safest environment? Everything is perspective. I applaud your honesty on the situation, I just wish everyone realized these things without it having to happen to them first.

Not only should there be term limits. Those people elected in offices should not be able to participate in stock markets. It's obscene how many of these elected people participate in stock markets and basically practice in insider trading. Its almost as if they get elected to that office for purpose of making money. Elected offices should be seen as a PUBLIC SERVICE and not a business opportunity. Its a public duty. Stock market participation of that individual and their spouse should be prohibited. The only type of money that that person should receive is their government salary. That would clear out MOST these lifetime elected officials... and then we would get people in those offices for the reason that they should be. This goes for Democrats and Republicans.

Nah, age isn't the determining factor. How about we just have a way for parties to retire people whose mental functions decline, like any other job. Why is there no mechanism for them to remove her? Not impeachment, as that implies she did something wrong. Something more like the clause they have to remove a president for mental incapacity, only, actually used.

Agree on max age limits of elected officials. The age should be 57 for POTUS. If they are lucky enough to serve two terms, when they leave office they will be 65. The age of retirement and Medicare. They should live long enough to realize the impact of their decisions. Note to Trolls: Yes I know POTUS gets much better healthcare, et al.

13:17 Honolulu passed a similar legislation years ago that made it illegal to sit or lie on the sidewalk in various parts of the city and then the police would conduct sweeps to kick homeless people out of their areas. It ended up being a huge waste of money because all it did was just move the homeless population from one area to another instead of implementing real changes to address the root causes of the homeless problem in Hawaii.

@@homersimpson5964 Those areas also have some of the highest costs of living. Hawaii's minimum wage is $10/hr, and to rent a studio is on average $1200-$1500/mo. After taxes, working 40hr/week wouldn't even afford you a place to live, let alone eat or commute to work. On top of that, simply making it illegal to be homeless doesn't help them. Rather than investing money into programs that will actually help the homeless such as mental health or drug rehab, the government just wants the homeless to not be such an eyesore or obstruction to business so they just move them out of the way.

@@ehongkongwong You're right that it is expensive here and there aren't enough high paying jobs to neutralize the cost of living. However, Hawaii has a fantastic VA program to help homeless veterans, there are many foods banks, colleges offer stipends for financially struggling students, and we even once had a program that offered a free one-way ticket to the mainland to deal for the homeless, but there were too few applicants. Laws do not make it illegal to be "homeless", they make it illegal for anyone to claim private or any tax funded land as home. I understand bad things happen to people, but I don't think you want to accept that there is a culture of people who stay homeless because they know working civilians will clean up after them.

Is that average age of US citizens including minors? The minimum age to become a congress member is 25 and it’s 30 for the senate if I’m not mistaken. Those average ages seem completely reasonable considering.

So true. We're on the homeless union in Santa Cruz ca. We SUED our police department and won a federal restraining order from a federal judge who made the city build us a homeless camp with wrap around services. Now we're suing them on behalf of rv dwellers. They must be FORCED to do the right thing.

what to make of this? 1. the constitution says you have to be at least 25 to be in the house, 30 to be a senator, and 35 to be potus. 2. the life expectancy of american white males when the constitution was written was 38. 3. george washington became the first potus at age 57. maybe the system was ~designed~ to have extremely old people holding these offices.

The Tennessee state senator is right. He should invite members of the US congress to join him and live for a year among the homeless. Even if they have to go to their meetings and votes from time to time, they should sleep there and spend days not in service to congress there. They have no idea what life is like for the people, so they are unqualified to dictate our laws.

Should there be a maximum age? Yes. The age range should be 30 to 55, there should be srs term limits, and there should be cognitive tests to ensure psychological health annually. The lovely thing is you may hate the beatings as a child but when you get to adulthood you appreciate them and all the trouble they saved you. I would rather be beaten by someone who loves me than end up in jail and get beaten by someone who doesn't care about me. You cant negotiate foolishness out of a child, you have to beat it out.

Everything is not politics, everything doesn't have to be a statement and it can be argued that getting whopped teaches children actions could have immediate and often painful consequences. I know for a fact that the children who are raised without whoppings are out of control!!! They have no respect especially for elders or authority, no values and no appreciation for what they are given. I'm definitely whopping my kids and it's from a place as love, same way I was whopped. The actions are judged by their own merits, not by some vague results(correlation isn't causation) 3. This "I would rather" is just another rhetoric with no basis in argumentation. False dichotomy at best. 4. You're doing this to a defenseless minor. Try it with a grown adult and see how well your idea still works. So give up the power trip. 5. The problem with a test like that is that firstly who will be responsible for administering the test? Can there be some effective guarantee that it will be independent of manipulation? And secondly, who will be qualified enough to take the test? Does anyone in the legislature has a high enough IQ to write a test?

Hi, thanks for the episode. Regarding the homelessness, if government introduces such a law, why don't they help those people to find accommodation? It kind of struck me that they just can make it illegal like that. What will happen to those people?

The reality of homelessness in America is that homeless shelters are already overflowing, so any new homeless people are going to have it even rougher. Those in the shelters barely sleep because of rampant theft. America is all-in on the idea that if you become homeless than you deserve whatever your worthlessness grants you. America will never institute Universal Healthcare because the government (mainly their lobbyists) truly believe America NEEDS the threat of homelessness to keep us all in line. I can't understand how people in this country think we're free because you can maybe start a business and can own a gun. If your government thinks they need to hold something over your head to keep you in line, than you aren't free, you're right in the line they stuck you in.

I think it’s because they want Mark ZuckyB!tch to be the largest investor in new network systems. Elon is investing in space and that is going to be vital for making a 3rd Gen network system that isn’t just based in outer space but transmitted from StarLink. This is a big deal, internet everywhere you go, connecting everything with 5G and VR. Then having direct access to Mars, you could run exploratory missions from earth on mars

Cheap, affordable, housing needs to be developed for the homeless. Doesn't have to be that large or fancy. Of course this would prove difficult because first nobody would want these in their neighborhoods but just making it illegal for the homeless people to just be around won't solve anything.

Well the problem is that these people have no money so making things cheap won't do anything. What they should do is help them find jobs through social workers so they can at least rent apartments. And to make it cheaper, they can place two people together so they can share the rent fees.
