Great to have the time and instinct to go over your emergency procedures when you noticed something wrong. A great lesson to all new and veteran pilots. Glad you made it back safely and with no damage to the plane. Sorry to see that you are getting rid of such a classic twin.

First, let me say glad you and the 310 are safe on the ground. Next, I came here to save the 310. Then, that wasn't feasible so, you got the Silver Bullet . That was ok because you still saved a 310. It's all about the 310 for me. I hope you plan on getting another one because, without a 310, it's not going to be the same and the save the 310 merch and everything else associated with the "Save the 310" is meaningless. JMO

Many years ago, I maintained a fleet of airplanes at Burbank Airport flight school at the east side of approach end of runway 15. One day an Air Force big wig flew in on his polished and buffed out DC-6 that I’ve never seen since! Even both faces of the all the props’ were to a mirror finish. The landing gear was all buffed out, down to the grease cups, tires “Armor-All’d” to a shine. I could not imagine being part of that ground crew tasked with that sort of up keep. But it was truly a sight for sore eyes indeed!

What about all the money people donated cause it was to get veterans flying so I guess he just pocketed that bought a jet Elvis’s never even saw then took the Rv he bought for a veteran the lost his home during a hurricane and put the jet on it thinking somebody will actually rent that or something? That’s fraud straight up no way around it him and Jason from rebuild rescue are scam artist and using veterans to run the scams that’s not right

I sent money in for the 310 to be saved. When the corrosion was discovered, I figured that story ended, just as if I had owned it. When Jimmy began buying the other airplanes it made for great content. I, like most people knew he would need to sell off these planes as time went on. If you watch you realize he has hangars everywhere. They aren’t cheap. Neither is fuel and insurance etc. I would like to see the Elvis jet completed. That project is really from lemons to lemonade.

That happened to me years ago on N58JW it is now scrap but I had the same thing happen to me with a Gear Actuator it stuck half way down and Popped. I did crank it down and all went well. I grew up on a 310, 150M, 172, 182, then on to a Leer, then a L1011, Then to Cargo 747. But I flew to work from SHV to DFW in a 150M N714EB my plane name was "Little 4EB" all the time. I was in front of an Air India 747 Taxing for take off and the Air India Pilot was Irate asking the tower why he put a stupid small plane in front of him? I came back and said Air India 814 this is Little Cessna 4EB I may be small but I am as big as you on this Taxiway. The laughter that caused was so funny the Tower told everyone to Shut Up and stated FYI Pilots his office is a Captain of a 747. He then gave me a Mid Field take off and told me to fly by the Tower for Traffic after take off. They were outside and waved. My radios cost more than the airplane and I was certified to be in that area. BTW Air India Apologized to me on 123.45. With all the equipment installed on my 150 I could only carry 162lbs of passenger. Beats driving. I loved my STOL Kit on that plane had it installed just for an emergency landing. Short story coming back from DFW to DTN on an IFR plan I got into a 89 knot Tail wind with a ground speed of 174 Knots. Shreveport approach who knew me and the Tail Number by Heart and my Voice asked me what I was Flying. I said Shreveport approach I forgot to tell you I had installed a Twin Turbo FEI with a Jet Pack and 200LL fuel, would you like me to step it up for Traffic. Approach said no you are past VNE but you need to go lower to avoid an incoming Space Craft. You have Barksdale worried there is a rocket Inbound then everyone laughed and he said "You set Air India Straight", Very Small World. Very True Story no BS.

I’m a retired aerospace engineer. I was deeply involved with the transport of the very large components of the Saturn V rocket. At that time the only air transport was, first the pregnant guppy (modified C-97) followed by a somewhat larger super pregnant guppy. When the Antonov AN-225 I was introduced my imagination went wild with the possibilities such a transport vehicle promised. Surely on a global scale, this aircraft should and could become an instrument for global peace. Couldn’t the United Nations get behind funding its survival.
