185 people were onboard the aircraft. No injuries were reported. Airport authorities closed the runway after the incident to clean all FOD. The aircraft is still grounded 24 hours after the incident.

I'm glad the authorities closed the runway and cleaned the FOD. Besides mud and turf, there's a possibility of landing/runway/taxi lights being struck with debris ending on the runway and taxiway. (Especially if the airport has the older, raised style lights.)

Former turbine mechanic here - if this were in North America, something like the following will happen: 1) no fan blade damage = clean engine with compressor wash, and then borescope the core for damage, if minor, blend/repair 2) fan blade damage, blend or swap out blades, and perfoem step 1 3) compressor wash shows lots of internal damage, beyond limits = engine out.

And that ladies and Gentlemen is why there is the runway strip. (Check ICAO annex 14 chapter 3.4). Where there must be no obstructions (neither up or down, so no ditches in the grass), all necessary objects need to be breakable and the surface needs to withstand an Aircraft at least once. It's not some random miracle the gear didn't break, it's in no small part due to aerodrome design specifications.

This was indeed a really botched landing. In the video it looks like Aquaplaning. Fortunately nobody was injured. It will take some time until this Aircraft is back flying. Thank you very much for picking this incident up!👍

One thing caught my attention is that Lithuanians' english accent is exactly like Russians when they speak English, despite the fact that they dont belong to the same linguistic group.

Oh yes, I realized that as well, yet one will find many pilots of various nationalities flying for an airline, as those are not employing local nationals exclusively. This could be in fact russian pilot flying for this baltic state carrier...

@@indyawichofficial1346Not very likely. Just after the Runway excursion the Pilot and ATC talked a short moment in Lithuanian with each other. Lithianian is a Balto-Slavic Lsnguage.

Is it my imagination that the pilot sounded like he was surprised/annoyed for being called out for going off the runway like that? The ATC's concerns were valid. From the footage, it seemed like the issue might have been beyond the pilots' control with the water on the runway. (Yeah, I suppose you could make the argument that this should have been a go around from the start and a call for ATC to "squeegee" the runway. Hard to tell what was going on without cockpit recordings.)

Pilot said “really, indeed” but meant “I don’t want to talk about it”. Pretty sure it wasn’t his fault from what I’m reading about weather conditions, but I’ll bet he was expecting to get a hard time from the other pilots.

Float aircraft emergency landed in the water and overturned - pilot able to get out with minor injuries. In Dakota County, MN approximately 1 hour ago. I was involved in this, would love to hear the ATC audio. Also occurred right near Wipaire facility, and had a 2023 manufacture date, wondering if that was just a coincidence or?

Thank you VAS! Wow. The pilots can maybe be forgiven for the runway excursion. They plow through the grass and end up back on the runway. Tower: "Do you need assistance?" Crew: "No everything is fine, we can taxi to the gate." Oly Sheet. Likely damage to the gear, engines have ingested chunks of grass, dirt and who knows what. Condition of the PAX unknown at the time. How about, umm, stopping the aircraft and come up with another game plan than taxiing to the gate? This was bizarre to watch.

It’s strange that the pilots didn’t quickly advise tower of what caused the runway excursion so they could shut the runway down. Plus it would have helped reinforce whatever the pilots report that happened to take burden off of them for the cause of the incident, if indeed it was caused by unreported surface conditions such as standing water. I would be letting someone know ASAP for multiple reasons.

ATC contacted them almost immideately, pilots would've probably told them afterwards but it wasn't their main priority. The translations also make it seem like the pilots were passive aggressive and sort of angry, in reality they sound more shocked. Instead of "indeed, really" the more accurate translations would be "most certainly did"
