The Final installment of the Airport Past: All Carriers comes in Part 1 & Part 2. The reason is to keep the program at approximately 15 minutes. In this feature, as the title suggest this segment features the carriers not seen in DFW - American Airlines & DFW - Braniff. This is the 2nd part of the final segment contains carriers not seen in the 1st part of segment 3. Enjoy!

Clipper Empress of the Seas. Oh man. That was the Pan Am flight 73 that was hijacked in 1986.

That is Gate 24 1:08 - 1:14 with the 727 on it with our old pod loading system (you can see the white pods on the trolleys lined up in the back for the bag runners to load bags into then we brought them up front to the lift loaders) we eventually got rid of the pod system because the front loaders were always breaking down on gates causing delays and then we started free loading everything after that it was such a pain and injuries started going up after that. Right under the camera person's feet was our cabin service area where we dispatched our cleaning and stocking trucks I worked there for several years and on all the gates also. Directly behind the 727 is our DC-10 on gate 23 which was one of our international gates that ran from gate 20 just to the right where the Lufthansa DC-10 is at gate 21 through gate 23 which was the customs area back in the 80-90s. I worked the Luftansa 747 in the evening shift and loaded and unloaded many things like F-16 wings and even tennis star Martina Navratilova Porche she was bringing from Europe I think she won it there and I think it was a Porche 911 Carrera. I started with American in 1987 but in the early days when DFW opened my Dad always flew himself for business and us on Brannif which was the only big competitor to American in the early days at DFW. Eastern shared gates 19 and 20 with us in the early days of my career at American. That Airport has changed so much over the years. It is strange to see the United gate agents pulling double duty and wing walking their 727 back at 9:57 - 10:09 and Pan Am doing the same from 10:52 - 11:02 although it was just the right wing for the guy in the tan suite (pilots left wing). At American, we always had to have 2 wing walkers mandatory.

Excellent commentary and shared experience you’re exactly the type of person of why I take the time to find these rare clips to do all this - it’s totally worth helping others recall such a critical and awesome era.

I remember when Concorde came to DFW. The terminal livery for Braniff was the wrong way to go. They should have kept the "flying colors" scheme alive.

You must not have seen the Airport Past: DFW-Braniff ops video...more Braniff 747 action than you can handle plus the very long Airliner Past- A Braniff 747 at Boston, all are here on the channel!

You're very welcome, my guess is as good as yours, some of the clips I have info on, that one I did not but I recall at the time it was charter not sure of the destination. But I am going to re-color this video to bring out it's true colors. Wait til you see the Northwest Orient 747 at Seoul Kimpo I'm working on, it's a beauty! I also intend to a Northwest Orient fleet vid now that I'm coming across a few NWO 707 clips (not the early design- plenty of those) but with full titles and the dark blue cheatline starting aft the forward door..incredibly hard to find!

AF and BA Concordes, how did Dallas score those birds? If I recall, only JFK in NYC have both Concorde services. Surprised to see so many PA Wide Bodies at DFW, did they have big int'l operations from Dallas?

I don't know about the DFW SST flights, but I know that periodically there would be around the world charters you could take with the SST. Back in the day when working the ramp at LAS, I would regularly see one of the SST's stop along the way on these trips while they were making the JFK-LAS-HNL segment of the trip.

During 1979-80 Braniff had an interchange flight agreement with BA and AF. The Concorde would operate between Dallas/Ft.Worth and Washington Dulles Airport as a Braniff flight with Braniff pilots that were trained by BA and AF. Upon arriving at Dulles the Concorde would be taken over by British or French crews and flown to London or Paris.
