For locals and people traveling to Colorado, these tips are for everyone.
This video will focus on the Hessie Trailhead just west of Boulder, CO near the small mountain town of Nederland. The Hessie Trailhead is a fantastic gateway to the Indian Peaks Wilderness and endless adventures.

Why wld you need a permit? What kind of permit?

The Indian Peaks Wilderness requires permits for overnight stays in the backcountry. They can be obtained through recreation.gov

@@MADHippiesLife that's good to know! I live in the Midwest and have been making a trip out to Denver the last 3 yrs to visit friends that moved out to Denver from the Midwest. I just assumed all wilderness areas were dispersed camping. Thanks!

@@7951Aries there are still some great dispersed car and backcountry hiking areas that don't require permits. Granted the permit fees are reasonable, more of a hassle vs cost, a few notable locations, the James Peak Wilderness is still permit free for backpacking, as well, Geneva Creek for dispersed car camping.

@@MADHippiesLife thx so much! fun fact: my pic is at Garden of the Gods in 2021! Luv CO! You're so lucky it's your playground. Don't get me wrong, the Midwest has a lot of beautiful places you wldnt expect and as a hiker I have seen it upclose and personal...but CO is an entirely different level! Thx for the info and sharing your Colorado adventures!

GOTGs is a great photo opportunity, the colors are always changing! There hasn't been a day when we weren't appreciative of being here and experiencing the CO Rocky Mountains. One of these days we're going to be hitting the road, got any recommendations out your way?
