With the right tools and techniques, fixing leaking magazines becomes a once-in-a-while annoyance rather than a constant battle.
The grease used in the video is Super Lube synthetic grease with PTFE, product number 21030. It is an effective lubricant for metal-on-metal contact as well.

Then get a little starter green gas kar98k from double bell to get acquainted with gas systems. It's a fun gun and it has great build quality, aside from furniture fitment issues which are extremely common in every single old bolt action rifle replica available.

One thing you didn't cover, or at least wasn't very clear, is that there are some GBBR mags (WE M4, Scar-H, G39) that don't have a baseplate but still break down in more parts. Those parts also have large but thin o-rings between them, those cause a lot of headache too.

So glad i found this channel. i wish DIY airsoft maintenance to be easier to find for all models at the time of release from the manufacturers. i just got the Sig ProForce M17 - CO2 mag. I think its great. i added the sig air red dot as well! but having a couple irritating issues. Seems like the hammer is too weak or the outlet valve is under too much pressure. this occurred on my 3rd CO2 cart Slide does not cycle. BB's fall out or not even budge. Also even from the start with the 1st CO2 cart, BB's jam near where the feedlips begin. idk if its the coating on the mag or wat. Your pro tech advice will be greatly appreciated!!

amazing video question, so you check your bottom seal in water, which ive done on all my kwa vector mags and fixed them, but also there seems to be some slight leaks on the knocker valve/in the pin hole of the router, but these stop after a few seconds of being underwater, so im not sure if this is something i should be worrying about? The leak is not audible at all but yeah, i was going to have a look at the knocker valve etc next but wanted to know if you bother checking the seal on the top end of mags in water too

So about that, my mag was miss feeding and was making my gun dirty every time I loaded that particular mag into the gun. My buddy said that the mag needed to be cleaned. So instead of waiting for him to show me in person I looked up on KZfaq, so I disassembled it and oiled it using gun grease. But after I re-assembled it, it started leaking. So I looked up the gasket ring like in the video and let my friend put it in and now it works fine. I’m not sure weather replacing the ring fixed it or letting someone who has experience with GGBRs fixed but it works 👍

It looks like propane may be a better alternative to green gas if i am using grease and lubricating my magazine seals every once in awhile, which is helpful because i can get propane dirt cheap from oreillys (about 5-6 bucks or so) per ~14oz, so I can get much more gas per buck than with getting green gas, especially when 8oz is about 15 bucks

@ExplosiveEnterprises
@ExplosiveEnterprises Жыл бұрын
It's not uncommon for a bit of foreign debris to get in, or for the tiny gasket inside the fill valve to tear and get clogged. Your best bet is to remove the fill valve and unscrew it (nearly all are two parts that thread together) and see if you can clean it out, relube, and reassemble.

Total noob here, but i always wanna enter new hobbies with as much knowledge as possible, one question, would a little PTFE tape an all the threads not ensure a better seal?
@ExplosiveEnterprises
@ExplosiveEnterprises Жыл бұрын
That's a reasonably common practice, but we find there are a couple of issues with it. First is that standard PTFE tape is primarily meant to seal water under relatively low pressure, and so it does not work nearly as well to seal gas. You can get gas-rated PTFE tape, but it still isn't ideal for maintaining a seal while pressure and temperature change significantly and rapidly, which is why o-rings are used to begin with. If your mag is sealing on the threads, then it isn't sealing on the o-ring- and if it's sealing on the o-ring, you don't need the tape. And third and most importantly, most of the seals you'll encounter aren't actually threaded, so there's nowhere convenient to tape. Ultimately, we tend to feel that anything that can be sealed with PTFE tape is better off being sealed with appropriate o-rings, and there are a lot of cases (like baseplate gaskets) where you don't have a choice.

What're your thoughts on storing mags with gas in them? I always hear people say it's good to store with gas in the mags to keep pressure on the seals but am unsure if this is actually necessary or not.
@ExplosiveEnterprises
@ExplosiveEnterprises 10 ай бұрын
We plan to touch on that in a future video. The tl;dr is that keeping them under pressure helps keep oil from wicking out, but isn't strictly necessary with grease- as evidenced by 40mm grenades, gas-in-shell shotshells, HPA regulators, HPA-tapped magazines, and all the other systems that are normally stored unpressurized. Keeping gas in the mags makes them much easier to gas up when it's time to play, and it will alert you to any leaks, so there's no reason /not/ to, but it isn't mandatory either.
@zanderalberto3576
@zanderalberto3576 7 ай бұрын
Some people say it keeps seals lubricated, is that the whole reason? @@ExplosiveEnterprises
@8od493
@8od493 5 ай бұрын
@zanderalberto3576 if your seals are lubricated with sillicone oil, keep your magazines slightly gassed for storage. Grease won't creep out of place like oil would, so keeping the mag pressurized isn't *strictly* nessacary. Absolutely no reason to not leave a bit of gas in your magazines though, so do it for good measure

My RWA Warhawk 1911 magazine's base plate is having trouble containing the gas pressure. As soon as I inject a bit of gas, the 2 retaining pins get slightly displaced and the base plate slightly pops out and gas seeps out. Any tips on how to remedy this? I've followed your guide and the o-rings + grease combo are probably doing a really good job sealing all that gas but it's the hard components that don't seem hard enough to keep the structure intact.

What causes clouds of gas to come out the ejection port when firing on a freshly charged mag? Is it possible to over charge the mag and if so how do I fill to the proper amount?
@sogerc1
@sogerc1 8 ай бұрын
So am I understanding right that he gun is cycling normally it's just that your getting the huge cloud? Yes, it is very possible to fill more into the mag than you should. Especially if you usually fill the mag fully and one time you had a cold mag and a warm gas bottle, that will be a disaster. You should not fill up a mag fully, gas needs space to expand. Think of it this way, when the output valve is open the pressure drops in the mag and just like water, the liquid propane starts to boil. (If you know some physics the boiling point of liquids depends on both temperature and pressure.) So the cloud you see is the propane running out of the container in the exact same way your soup would if you left the lid on and the flame on max. Ideally you only want to put as much gas in the container which is enough to shoot all the BBs but that's really hard to guess. For ex there is the GHK 4 second rule but it's not bulletproof. I usually stop filling gas the moment it stops pouring in as enthusiastically as in the beginning, which is a little too much gas but it's more repeatable than this or that many seconds. The safest is TM's system which has a limiter, you can't overfill those mags. In fact sometimes it's annoyingly hard to fill meaningful gas in them, they resist filling so much.
@Revan638
@Revan638 5 ай бұрын
It’s important that your gas bottle is a tiny bit warmer then your magazines and to avoid overfilling maybe just go to a time based system try it with 4 ore 7 seconds of gas filling that sould be enough

Your magazine can not explode from just puting gas in to it they are designed to hold a specific pressure so they don’t brake Of course of you try to press to much gas in too a magazine it will explode but I think you would acutely need really cold gas and pump it in there at a high pressure But that will never happen with normal green gas or hardware stores propane So nothing to worry about there But you can overfill your magazine depending of what kind of fill valve you have
