Rendio, Man, you are analyzing how these things work, I'm impressed! Marlex pvc 90's or Poly nipples that the heads thread onto are rated for leak free operation hand tight. By spinning the head you are tightening or loosening the head slightly on the inlet threads, not rounding the ratchet mechanism. Thanks for the comments and Good luck with the yard! JW

I should have had the installer guy show me how to adjust the right side arc stop on these PGPs since they don't clearly explain it anywhere that I could find on the Hunter website, but you answered my question visually. He set most of the system up great, but two of them rotate a bit too far onto the driveway. Thanks buddy. ;-D

Really good explanation. I wasn't aware that one can adjust the right arc by turning the whole turet - very useful and I wonder why this isn't described in the manual. Thanks for the video, old one but still useful :)

Thank you finally someone that explains in detail. I will try this and update once I get a chance, I do have one question if you don't mind, my two septic sprinklers have a sleeve that covers the body of the sprinkler, but it keeps breaking and waters gusher out, what can I do about this? I was thinking pipe insulation but you the expert and I thank you for your recommendations.

Hello. I can't speak to the heads you are having trouble with do not remember any having sleeves but you could put new hunter PGP heads on the septic line. I have seen these heads used in that application. Hope thiis helps!

I needed your video to figure out that the bow tie shaped end of the adjuster tool is NOT the end to insert through the hole with the bow tie out line. Nay nay, the bow tie tool goes through the circle, the Allen key goes through the bow tie. What is manufacturers logic behind the markings? Anyhow, I can now adjust the azimuth just as the presenter has shown. However, the Allen key is not finding anything at bottom of hole to engage. How common is it for a range adjustment screw to be missing or incompletely formed? My new head continues to shoot at max range until I can find out how to get Allen key engaged or I dig this new head out of the ground and try a different brand.
@justinwilson1779
@justinwilson1779 3 жыл бұрын
Howdy goodaches! The aduster screw gets filled with dirt and debris. You can take a can of compresser air and blow into the adjuster screw to clear. Hope that helps!

You said in order to adjust right stop, rotate the whole head but it looked like you only rotated the pop up riser.
@justinwilson1779
@justinwilson1779 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rich. You can rotate the head from the threads is the easiest. The riser does have the ability to rachet near where it meets base but it is difficult to ratchet. We normally grab the base with a big pair of channel locks and rotate on the threads if you cannot do so by hand. Hope this helps!

Justin, what happens if you try to adjust the arc (+/-) without holding the turret at the right stop? Also, it is okay to hold the turret in place at the right stop when the water is on?
@justinwilson1779
@justinwilson1779 9 жыл бұрын
Scott Truskowski Hi Scott. If you have the turret at the left stop (the stop you are adjusting) it will be difficult to adjust. Better to keep it nearer the right stop (non adjustable side) while adjusting where the left stop terminates, then rotate to check. Don't hold the turret for long with the water on or you might strip the plastic gears. You want to let it go back and forth switching from forward to reverse while you are adjusting it without going against the plastic gears. If it's not wanting to turn one direction go the other until you get to full stop. Thanks for watching. Justin

I was trying to adjust my sprinkler head and turned it right then left a few times to see where I wanted it adjusted and now it wont arc left to right, it stays in one place. Is there something I did wrong that can be corrected?
@justinwilson1779
@justinwilson1779 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack. The turret has a right and left stop. When you are turning it you must turn completely full right and cycle fully left to test the arc. 2:32 in the video explains do not force the plastic gears it should turn easily in the correct direction. Only thing I can think of is the gear is stripped or missing a tooth. May be time to swap out for a new one.

I guess I am lost as to how to do the radius on the left side. The right side I understand but the left side is the side I need to do and I just don't see how it is done!
@justinwilson1779
@justinwilson1779 7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Left side you spin the head either on the threads or the internal ratchet by grabbing the head just above the seal with the head in the raised position. Hope this helps.

Here is a link to buy one on Amazon www.amazon.com/Hunter-55070-PGP-Adjustment-Tool/dp/B000678LJY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431437946&sr=8-1&keywords=hunter+pgp+tool Also If you are by our shop at 3560 East University Ave in Georgetown stop by and we will give you one. question, what flow insert is the best for distance and fan
@justinwilson1779
@justinwilson1779 7 жыл бұрын
Scott, Sorry for the late reply. We generally use 7's thru 9's. The textbook answer would be match the flow rates based on the area. For example 1.5 gallons per minute on quarters, 3 gallons per minute on halfs, and 6 gallons per minute on fulls. That would be 5's, 7's and 9s. Hope this helps!

Hi Ryan, Sorry for the late reply. I'd grab a spare head. Sometimes home depot carries a re-branded hunter (think they are labeled orbit) that come with a key. In a bind you can use a regular screwdriver and allen wrench. Hope this helps.

...why would anyone loosen the housing to adjust either stop; as you loosen they connection to the line, it will only leak...?? Can anyone tell me how to do this correctly???????
@justinwilson1779
@justinwilson1779 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott. Most have a self sealing marlex 90 or poly nipple below the head. If you would like to be super detailed you could throw teflon on the threads and tighten the head until you get the left stop where you want it to be. 99% of heads in the field do not have this and I know of no contractors that install that way. General consensus seems to be because it is non-full time pressure, it is an emission device that is watering the landscape, and the seals leak by a minimal amount of water over thinking the seal at the bottom is not necessary. Hope that helps.

One of my rotor heads won't move back once it goes to the left it just stops. I was regulating the flow of water with that one and got it where I wanted it and then it just stopped revolving back and forth. Can you tell me how to get it back to rotating again? Thanks!

BEFORE YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS YOU CAN ONLY ADJUST THE ARC WITH THE HEAD OF THE ROTOR EXTENDED OUT. Simply, adjust the arc with the WATER ON to allow the rotor to extend up to make the adjustment by rotating the turet all the way to the right and then insert the tool into the opening to seat it and rotate it to the plus side or the minus side. Get your instructions in order Hunter and don't leave out the first step to allow all the other steps to follow. Get it? . It is like going for a test ride in a new car with no gas in the tank. Shame on you.

Hi, when you adjust the right stop, i notice you grab the shaft below the turret and then with a small amount of pressure adjust it left or right. Arent you still forcing those little teeth on the bottom of the shaft to move against the position they are wedged into? At this video they say adjust the right stop by moving the entire unit, ie grip the outside body and make it swivel by it moving on the nipple that attaches it to the pvc mainline. see here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nsxmdtCJ0aiZnqc.htmlm47s At this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpqTY6ybyt-9lZ8.htmlm13s it mentions a 2nd method, whereby you undo the housing and take out the shaft and turrent, then lower it back in with the right stop and arrow facing the correct direction. Your method seems to be a 3rd alternative, whereby one is ignoring the whole housing but just forcing that shaft to move a tiny bit left or right whilst leaving the turrent alone. I pulled out one of these shafts and there is teeth on the bottom of them, your method will slowly blunt or round off those teeth against the slight protrusions in the housing they wedge into? I assume those teeth dont do much but keep the shaft in one spot and not turning and maybe adjustments are so infrequent that it doesnt matter, even if technically speaking , one is rounding off the teeth with your method. Thankyou
