Airstream Exterior Polishing (Part 2/3)

This video is a continuance of part 1 in the process of polishing a airstream trailer utilizing zephyr polishing products. The video shows the final 1st cut and all of the second cut on polishing Dustie the Airstream trailer. Feel free to leave a comment or any ideas suggestions below.

Did you put butyl tape underneath your window frames if so what was the thickness?

I did. I used the normal 1/8 thickness x 3/4 inch width. After I riveted the frames in place I trimmed excess butyl tape that was being pressed outside the frame from riveting with a razor blade then in the interior I followed up with a generous amount of sika flex around the frames of all windows, vents and panel overlaps. Probably way overboard but I wanted to ensure no leaks moving forward at any seams or frame and panels where they meet.

@@dcdvs1583 Thank you so very much for answering back so quickly I’m getting ready to do mine I’ve already bought the butyl tape but I just wanted to make sure happy restoration :-)

@@dcdvs1583 Thanks again after driving 4 hours both ways from my house to Fresno my buffing deal fell through when I got back home I saw your video and I have since then tooled up and will be buffing out my own the way you were doing it made it look not easy but doable.

@@DavidSmith-be2pn it’s definitely doable but as a single person it will take some time. Just be patient and let the buffing wheels and compound do the work and trust the process. At least using zephyr that what I found for it too work best. It sound weird but don’t force the wheel let it do the work. Each stage will excite you more as the clarity gets deeper and deeper. I found best focusing on each riveted panel on each stage before loving over to the next one. The work is very dirty long and a complete forearm workout but in the end it makes it all worth it when you step back and see the final results.
