Yeah the whole adoption thing is silly, it’s an adult. But the entire rest of the story is a red flag and no marriage works when their priorities don’t align at all, kids are a make or break issue before marriage

She is 20 years old, why do you need to adopt a grown ass person? 😂😂😂😂 If that still a teenager i would understand, just keep having a mother and daughter relationship and no need paperwork involved.

So that her awful parents won’t try to claim rights to her inheritance or possible children down the road. Adult adoption is often desired in situations where the original parents were abusive.

1. Can you adopt a legal adult? 2. YTA for forcing an adoption when you married him knowing he'll object. 3. You'd be NTA to devorce him for litterally any other reason you mentionned. And you probably should.

Yes you can adopt a legal adult, this is often done for reasons such as making medical decisions when the adult themself can't. The adoption would essentially mean her bio father can't make medical decisions for her when she's incapable (such as taking her off life support or giving the go ahead for a surgery after a car crash or something), so these kinds of adoptions, especially in her case, are very important

it still is a valid reason and i think it's closer to a straw that broke the camels back because if the other stuff and ignoring of her problems wasn't happening (if he was a better partner) he would have most likely supported her

Bruh he was cutting himself… I just can’t stand the idea of cutting yourself. I’ve been in very dark spots myself like everybody but never have I ever considered cutting myself or anything like that, it just feels unnatural and unrealistic.

She was cutting herself, just cause you can't stand the idea of it either doesn't mean others can't and won't do so. It is a major issue and there are whole apps dedicated to tracking how long one has been without SH as a way of feeling achieved for doing better for so long

Okey, so you brought a stranger to your home knowing your husband doesn't want children & you want to adopt that person, I hope you understand people clarify things in advance for a reason so you can move on if you can't live with those things, I also think you are telling a one sided story & and not mentioning you entitled & toxic behaviour which shows in this adoption situation clearly.
