I remember hearing this as a kid. my dad brought this home from a friend, played it for my mom. I never laugh so hard. I was 12 years old. even today it is still funny as hell. I just love how he plays a drunk person. reminds me of Foster Brooks. how he act that his is drunk. love the last line. get up the courage to go to confession. its priceless.

Me too. On 8 track. My dad was amazed that I understood and liked these guys at such a young age. Impossible Dreams is one of my favorites too. And the shortest skit was the two doctors and the patient who dies and he takes a drag off his cigarette. And all time favorite Hippie and the redneck. 😂

I heard it at 16, my dad put it on the jukebox, in the rock locations, country, and R&B, everyone played the hell out of it.

This single was actually almost a Top 40 hit in 1971. Peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100. Great comedy skit. A classic.

I met Hudson and Landry at the radio station KFWB IN LOS Angeles in 1971 when I volunteered to speak to a music composer in Spain on behalf of Emperior Hudson. He wanted to use the music from the Adagio movement in a narration he wanted to record about his dog Shep, and needed permission to use it and someone who could make the call in Spanish. I left the studio that day with two LP's titled: Ajax Liquor Store and Hanging in there. I spent many enjoyable hours listening to those vinyl records, but they became lost during a divorce, and were later replaced by Kathy, the woman I married in 2015.

@@christinadaly7743That's where I live. All my life. I was 6 years old during the 71 quake. Sylmar has changed dramatically. Not all for the good sadly to say. So crowded now. Some things look exactly as they did way back when. The fire road. The wash area at the end of Eldridge. Houses aren't $18,000 anymore. Start around 450k or close to it. Vons is still there. Most streets are paved. Scattered Olive Trees still exist. We've made the news a few times for some bad things obviously. Had the largest cocaine seizure in American history at one point. A few high profile murders. No more fireworks stands on the corners. Weather is still the best. Get the good Santa Ana winds whistling and howling down the mountain. And the entire valleys mountains had snow this year. And it stuck for about 5 days. 😊
