You can make 5 trees from one branch! In this video, I show you how! Mulberry is one of the easiest, most enjoyable trees to grow from cuttings. Once they're in the pot, I water the cuttings like I water any other plant.

Nice video. Very informative. I do find mulberry trees very easy to propagate from cuttings. I do it slightly different to your way. Because mulberry cuttings root very easily, I don't pamper them by wrapping each one like you did. I jet get a bundle of 4-5, depending on how thick they are, I loosely tied them up into a bundle. It is just a simple matter of putting the bundle into a potting mix. To keep the cuttings moist, I put a single-use plastic bag over the cuttings. The bag slipped over the pot, and I simply tie a string to keep the bag in place. Every couple of days, I removed the bag, water the pot, and put the bag back over the pot. There is a more elaborate way to keep the cutting moist at all time without having to remove the plastic bag. But that will be another story.

Thanks! I move the cutting outside once there is more than one growth flush on it. More than one growth flush usually means the roots are growing well. I would move it outside in the spring or summer. Fall or winter can get too cold for a young cutting. I don't have a follow up video. I will do one soon. The cutting in this video is now well grown and is planted in the ground at my cousin's house.

The branch is about one inch or 2.5 cm in diameter and about two feet long with leaves and two other smaller branches coming from it. Question: Is is possible to grow new roots on this branch so it can live? If so, do i have to remove the leaves? Or can I just keep the leaves attached? For now, I have placed the branch in a bucket of water. I don't know if this is a good idea? If you can give me advice I would so appreciate. Thank you!

Should be ok to up-pot. The tree will appreciate all that rain. Mulberry roots are tough and aggressive, and it’s a forgiving tree to transplant and move to bigger containers. I’d hold off on the fertilizer until the weather warms up a bit

How often do you water the new cuttings?
@AJTheGraftMan
@AJTheGraftMan 2 жыл бұрын
Once or twice a week. The idea is to keep the soil moist, but not soggy wet. Too wet and the cutting can rot out

The reason to put something in the holes is to prevent the hole from clogging so that water is able to flow well. Curved, broken terra cotta pot pieces are ideal. It likely depends in what soil you use. I have had problems with clogging myself. He is right, though. You still want it to freely drip when watered. I think he probably just uses soil that clogs the small holes less.

Ours get fireblight, not sure if that's the same as canker, but a mature, established tree will tolerate quite a lot. I prune dead or severely affected branches, and now the tree is about 35 years old.
