Hey Lew, I've had the Pioneer equipment since 1981 - never polished it. up close you could probably. I use a mild cleaner to wipe it down occasionally. As rugged as they are, certainly they can tolerate stronger cleaners/polishers if you felt the need.

I always thought that 10.5" reels equated to 15 ips.

Reel size only governs the amount of tape the reel can hold.

I was not clear with my comment. I just thought that decks with 10.5" reels usually were capable of 15 ips. I have observed more than one of your videos that show that I was wrong about that. Thanks for the great videos. In the late 60's, one of my jobs as an E3 and E4 was changing 15" reels of 5000 feet of tape (60 ips) every 15 minutes.
