Hello once more from Middle Earth, Matt! Thanks for the guided tour of this nice machine - a fine addition to anyone's system. I hope 4th July has been good for you - we had a general election, not quite as celebratory! Best wishes as ever, I hope the GX-400D's are all well!

Ciao Big Matt, questo registratore è simile al mio gx747. Meccanicamente funziona bene ma nella registrazione nel senso normale ( in avanti), mancano le note acute e spostando la manopola del bias tutto in senso antiorario migliora un pochino ma mancano sempre i toni alti. Viceversa registrando in reverse, si nota meno la differenza, ma devo girare la manopola del bias tutto in senso orario e commutando da source a tape sembra quasi uguale. Il nastro è sempre lo stesso: LPR 35 registrato 7,5" Cosa può essere? Peccato che abiti lontano altrimenti te lo avrei portato per un controllo. Grazie. Ciao

Brother Luciano, How are you my friend? Sometimes when the high notes are missing the heads may need demagnetizing. Also, make sure they are super clean. If the problem persists, adjust VC1 (Forward Frequency Response). I would record music with a lot of high notes and listen to the tape while recording to see if there is an improvement. Please let me know how it goes.

@@5thcomm dear Big Matt, thank you for the answer you gave me. I used the translator to understand. I certainly demagnetized the heads and cleaned the tape path well before making the adjustments as per the service manual. I am not an electronics technician but an enthusiast who repairs (as far as possible) my equipment. I disassembled the VC1 coil because it couldn't be adjusted and I discovered that the ferrite core is broken, therefore impossible to adjust. I looked online but couldn't find anything, so either I keep it like this or I'll ask you please if you have a spare one. Thanks bye.
