The thing I’ve always loved about Akala is I remember hearing him when he was an angry young man. Then he realised he had a gift and he was, no other way to say it - just smarter n figured shit out. Instead of being a prick he’s tryina jus grab everyone’s shoulders n pull them up n teach them.

Akala is a genius. That word get's thrown around all the time I know, but guess what? He is a genius. Honestly a poet and it's a crime he is not more popular, but at the same time I am glad because the mainstream would be something he would find appalling.

❤ love Dennis Brown. Saw him at Glastonbury (England) 1982, i was 20, my 1st Of many Glastonbury festivals. Had never heard of him, but was just getting into reggae, playing drums in reggae/ska band. Only years later did I appreciate how lucky I was to see him, being as I'm in England and there weren't too many chances. Black uhuru also played that year - a mini k8nda sunsplash Saturday afternoon on main stage - Dennis, Black uhuru, Aswad. Sorry, if this waffle is boring..but, can't reccomend too highly all check out any Dennis Album. John Holt also was mentioned by Akala here. Got to see him in Brighton about 20yrs ago. He is also well worth a listen, gorgeous voice.

He’s amazing. I used to party in London in the 90s (showing my age) at the Coliseum he mentioned and the Jungle raves and whatnot. I know his dad, from back in the day at the reggae dances I used to go to. What an amazing, knowledgeable young man. You should watch some of his interviews. the reason why he said "Like old school jungle selection, come through humble a veteran" is because jungle is a genre of music from the UK that was massive in the 90's & early 2000's and grime took a lot from that genre. If you need a jungle song to listen to to get a feel of the genre, listen to "General Levy - Incredible". It's one of the most iconic songs of jungle.

The thrown overboard from the deck of the Zong line refers to a real incident. The Zong was registered in Liverpool, the crew threw the human cargo overboard and the owners tried to claim for losses from Lloyd's of London. That obviously caused an uproar and was one of the reasons, that Britain closed down the trans Atlantic slave trade. Props for the reaction lads, big up to you.

Some of the things you guys have said throughout this have been absolutely bang on the money.. Were lucky to have this boy, and every guy like me 50 years old and English and white should study what he says.. I've been listening to rap and hip-hop since day one when we were all kids listening to bambata and cold crush brothers, captain rock or man parish, and every so often a genuine genius comes along. He is one... KRS one was a great from my day.. Akala goes on news night and other talk shows here in the UK and absolutely takes no prisoners. Like ex EDL that's the English defence league, their leader Tommy Robinson, gets absolutely flattened by akala, I'm sure he still to this day does not know what happened. The guy is a racist prick, who tried to say this and that.. But he never stood a chance with akala and it was a thing if beauty to see him put in his place.. Really appreciate your reaction guys.. Oh and my boy there got it right about 'barney' 😂 Barney rubble / trouble cockney rhyming slang..decent effort that matey.. Oh and the slang of a London yute/youth was another British term lads.. And ends....is a term for neighborhood.. Peace..😎🤟

As slaves, we were the first STOCK, hence Stock Market. We were each given a value to our "owners". Life, (if you could call it that), aboard the slave ships was truly barbaric. 400+ souls laid end to end and cheek to Jowell, shackled below deck for up to 23hrs a day; more if the weather was bad. No toilets or bathrooms, you shit and pissed where you lay! The journey could take anything from 2 -6 months, depending on the prevailing winds, (no motors or engines on these vessels, remember. Diseased slaves were disposed of by throwing them overboard. The same was done to those slaves that were claimed to be disobedient or unruly, by the crew and claimed as Underwritten Stock when they docked! Such was the stench of human waste and rotting flesh, it was said that these ships could be smelled up to 5 miles away coming into port and every slave that somehow manager to live would be lying around a foot deep in their own excrement! The Xong, Akala mentioned during his spoken piece, was one of those ships. History 101, Gentlemen🙏

This is amazing, really next level stuff that put Akala far away from any other competition from anywhere I've heard but he's an enlightened thinker who clearly has an astonishingly high IQ. I also love his daily duppy because they get a few minutes to showcase their talent and he decided to do something different and for me the result was amazing. I do love daily duppy to see how different artists approach the set. Listening to Akala's, Bugzy's latest motivational one, Jordan's (2nd part talking about his struggles) and the brilliant Ghetts ft. Giggs - Crud. These folk are astonishingly good for different reasons.

"Endz" means your hood. So endz aint worth dying for. A lot of our youth are killing each other over different "endz" or post codes.

What I love about your reactions is you watch the whole thing. Most reactors skip the parts where Charlie and whoever is in the booth are having a conversation and they just skip to the bars and miss a lot of valuable content. Fair play kept up the great work big love from here in the uk 🇬🇧

@@BeersBars I’ve said it on a few of your reactions you need to check out big narstie his fitb 3 is something else he basically supported grime independently without any help at the time when many grime artists were jump into pop because the scene was declining but as you’ve seen yourselves the uk has some of the best lyricists the world have to offer. And I’m not being biased when I say this bit the uk was killing the us at their own game at this time we just have many artists that’s won’t get the exposure they deserve because they spit too real 🤷‍♂️

Yes lads, isn't that just incredible. The man's an another level. Never expected dude on the right to know cockney rhyming slang. Few others is apple's and pear's=stairs, dog and bone=phone. Barney means fighting all over this country though so I don't know. Cockneys are only from London. I'm from the north and I say it.

Ends means your area. So when he says, dying for your ends is not worth it he’s saying don’t die for your hood & also he says he is a London Yute. Yute is a Jamaican term for Youth. So he’s saying mixed with the slang of a London youth lol. Love the vids ❤
