I have one of these my father gave me. He got it during Desert Storm. An Iraqi soldier had taken his underwear off, and tied it to his rifle, waving it over his head, along with dozens of others doing the same. It is how they surrendered. The weapons were confiscated, and all of the bayonets ended up as war trophies. I actually have 2 of them.

The steel end cap is actually made for hammering. On the type 1 bayonet you just had a round end of the grip, so when soldiers used it as a hammer they broke the grip of their bayonet, that's why they added the steel end cap on the type 2. Also, since both parts of the wire cutter are not isolated, it will produce a bright flash and a short circuit that could melt away parts of the bayonet if you cut an electrified fence with one positive and one neutral wire. I read about this in a NATO-manual some time ago, but i did not try this with my own AK-bayonet, so i cannot confirm it.

@FishFind30009 жыл бұрын
I carry a Leatherman wave on my hip everyday it's super handy and I can't believe how I could have lived without it. If you get the EOD black coating it will leave some extra so you need to wipe it down once you get it or yours hands turn black but once a the extra is cleaned off from manufacturing it's perfect and doesn't come off at all. Not even the saw blade has lost its coating and I have been using it heavily over the last few days. Also it will be slightly thought from the coating but if you get the regular silver I don't think you will have any problems what so ever. I also have the molle sheath and it works great. It has a pocket inside so you can get the extra bit set if you want.

MrAspentree Probably because it was an effective design. A good idea is not overlooked just because someone say's it is copying.

PMC I agree. It's just funny how the American armed forces are always portrayed as the superior force in every way, yet they quietly and thoroughly copied many elemental things, like the bayonet, from the "backwards and underfunded" Soviets.
@thebeyondwordser9 жыл бұрын
MrAspentree thats because the soviets worked in different ways. In America, a company comes up with an idea and tries to sell it to the army. This can be a great advantage or disadvantage, because its out of the box thinking. the product might be a huge innovation or a glorified paperweight. Soviet tech is designed based on basic needs and most cost effective. a study is done to find what a tool needs to do, and how much it should the cheapest product that meets the most requirements is chosen. both systems have their merits, but the american system lends it self to "ripping off" and "copying" of ideas more than the soviet.
