Well this is a video of Akron Ohio, but the hood? Come on now! Idk if your from Akron, or even familiar with it, but you missed "the hoods" entirely. This is not a good example at all. I moved here in 92,and began living on Bellow's, and Cole Ave which has always been a little crazy, but Copley, Madison, Elizabeth park, joy, and a few others will out good all those. Substance abuse, and systemic poverty is creating more "hoods" then you know, and is gonna be the downright reason for our extinction! Mark my words! Let's love each other, and lift each other as high as we can, or die!

Just watching this. It really didn’t have the feel of worst neighborhoods. Heard no sirens, shootings, saw no street walkers, no evidence of these places being the worst. I will be the first to admit Akron’s crime rate has increased, but we need to to focus on the solution and prevention of crime and applaud the good that is being done in these areas. Kenmore is pretty sketchy, some of Barbertucky is too. East Akron like Sawyerwood and Lakemore is pretty much low rent. Akron isn't nearly as bad as Cleveland.

The West Side was wild back in the day though...sxxx anybody from Akron should know where Delia St. is and I spent many summers of my child hood right off of Delia st. in front of the Delia Mart. That Yellow House in front of the Delia Mart is my Grandmothers old house, and I remember back in the days me and my cousins used to walk to Perkin's pool almost everyday from East Ave from my Great Grandmother's house too, I miss them days man West Akron was rough and still is but Im greatful to have lived to tell the tales!

i am Akron native, born and raise there but left years a go. I grew up the west side, my grand parents lived on Rhodes ave, I remember Akron was safer city years ago, but the hood change in the 80s though the 90s upward. Edge-wood Homes apts, near Euclid ave, and old Wooster ave, Lane field near the former South High School. Manchester road areas, and Thornton street, drug areas and street walkers, Raymond street drive though too, but Maple street, old Howard street down to East- North street, Lods street had a after hour joint, and a bar used to be on that corner, of lods- street and Howard. Elizabeth house apartments on East- North street now gone, real talk, I am a 50s generational old- schooled, Buchtel High School grad too.

When my wife and I were looking for a house about 97-98 there were a few on Wildwood. I worked for the local school system so I knew a lot of police officers. When I asked a couple about the neighborhood I was told keep looking. We get way to many calls in that street. I hope it's different now.

I lived in Akron way back in 1992-95 and it wasn't dangerous in any neighborhood that I felt unsafe or threatened. There was a lot of drug use and substance abuse but I never had any problems there. The driver was in Middlebury and I used to work at a nursing home called MIddlebury Manor at the time. Probably gone by now.

I grew up on Brown Street in South Akron just a few blocks south of Wilbeth road, back in the 1950's and 60's. It was a wonderful place to grow up, everybody knew everybody, and on Saturdays and Sundays, we would ride our bikes North to Wilbeth road, East to Arlington Street, (Arlington plaza) South to Waterloo road, down to South plaza, then North back up Brown street. We'd be gone all day long, and nobody ever worried about our safety. We were probably 10 yrs old. Crime was unheard of.

@@a_realman7775 you're right. Copley Rd and Vernon Odom (Formerly Wooster Ave) are probably the worst areas of Akron for crime. But I would estimate that the area between S Arlington St and Kelly Ave from Exchange St to Archwood Ave is comparable. Maybe a tad less dangerous than Copley Rd, and that area you're referring to. But not by much.

East Ave. and Delia st. on the West Side was always notorious for Drugs, Robbery, Drive-Bys, and Killings, almost every night when I was a kid them boyz would be standin right infront of the Delia Mart hustlin all night like clock work until somebody got to shootin and me and my cousin Kindell (R.I.P.) would be watchin it upstairs in the window and my grandmother (R.I.P.) would run upstairs to our room and yell "Get down! They are outside shooting" Man so many young Black Men got killed over there on Delia st back in the day., iz a shame! Last year I went back to Akron for the 1st time in over 10 years and iz like a ghost town now...all the OGs is either dead or in jail and now you got these youngins out there 12 years old walkin around with handguns just waitin to shoot somebody and they fears nobody or nothing. Westside of Akron is and always was tretrous but I still miss those walks with my LiL Brother and my cousins in the Summer to Perkins Pool from my Great Grandmother's house though (R.I.P.). Them were the dayz!

I'm not from Akron but I spent a lot of Childhood hood summers there and yes you are 100% right...West Akron is and has always been worse than any other area in Akron. I used to stay with my Grandmother over on Delia st. on the West Side right in front of the Delia Mart. My Uncle and my cousins used to run the West Side back in the dayz. Delia in the 90's used to be so rough that my Grandmother wouldn't even allow me or my cousins to go out of her yard, not even to the Delia Mart across the street unless her or my Uncle took us there. I remember back in 1995 me and my cousin Kindell Atkins (R.I.P. Kindell) witnessed somebody get killed while we were sitting on the porch right by my Grandmother's house on Delia...I will never forget about that and will never forget them days but I still and always will love Akron and I hope my brothaz and Sistaz in Akron find their way cuz one thing I know about Akron is that the lack of opportunity is what has plagued the city for many many years. I lived in North Hill when I was a kid. My Dad moved us to Randolph later on because he felt Chalker St was getting too crowded. I hope the area is still ok, I have a lot of good memories there!

@@cassiemontgomery45 I was living on Wall Street the last time I lived there. I know exactly where Chalker is. When I was growing up it was the West and South sides you had to worry about. I grew up off of North and Market by the old Crosby school and St V.

I would take night walks all over Akron when I lived there in the early 2010s never felt unsafe but maybe one time and it ended peacefully anyway.

In all the time I've lived around here, I've never really been in Akron. Compared to some areas I'm familiar with here in Cleveland, this didn't look bad at all. I'll take your word about the dangerous part.

I guess they done took down some drug rings cuz I went there last year and the West Side vy East Ave. looks like a complete Ghost Town. Eastland woods in East Akron was jumpin for a minute too but they don shut that down too so...idk bruh I think they trying to gentrify the city or something
