In Ethiopia, Afua Hirsch traces a proud 3,000-year history as significant as any civilisation in the west. A beacon for the black diaspora, Ethiopia's story is one of defiant independence, of kings and communists.

my friends little girl is a doctor and has just finished a run with the red cross in Ethiopia. from what she has said if you do go stay in the big urban locations. the country side is very unpredictable. you can be a safe as you would be in any other bit of the civilized world. but go ten miles down the road and be in bandit country. so if your going to go wondering get a guide. also be very carful of the water she treated two of her team for worms and worm infestation seems to be endemic in some parts of the country. most water is infested with parasites and is a bit toxic. never have ice in a drink even in a top class hotel as the ice will be made from well water and not boiled first. you will also find the drugs use is extremely common and night life even in big towns is very dangerous. there is still a lot of fighting going on in parts of the country so i would say about half the country is anything from a bit suspect to you are going to die if you go there. its a same the view you get in the film is very limited and extremely selective. if you are going to present a country you should do it warts and all or its just a parody. but i can see why the presenter is doing it. all we get to hear about Ethiopia now a days is war, starvation and the way women are abused and miss used.

Ethiopia what a beautiful country and people. Even, I have never been there yet, I am in love with this country and people. Actually, the fulani people in West Africa (Sénégal, Mali, Guinée...) are originated from kush-kemets empire according to Cheikh Anta Diop. The music played by the Guez singers are pretty the same as my fulani music called "Fantang" and "ndiarou", which connect us through our commun ancesters...We are connected 🇸🇳🇪🇹🥰❤️🖤💚
@angelicaterry3367
@angelicaterry3367 2 жыл бұрын
Some fulani herds people in Nigeria seem to want all the land and forests, be it in the east or south, for their cattle. They used to respect farm land and people respected them back, live and let live. Now they go as far as demanding what they want from the tip of a rifle. And have proved over and over to be deadly for farmers. Because the fulani have ethnic links to the nigerian leaders favoured by britain, the farmers cannot take up arms against them for fear of being imprisoned. Meanwhile nothing happens to the fulani herds people. And this is just one of nigeria's many issues.
@st3019
@st3019 Жыл бұрын
Fulani people do NOT originate from “ Kemet-Kush “ nonsense. Ancient Egypt ( Kemet) was NOT a black civilization. Nubians were dark skin people. Ancient Egypt and Nubia were connected with each other and they were more integrated with other civilizations in Fertile Crescent . Ancient Egyptians and Nubians were using chariots and wheels since thousands of years before BC . In other parts of Africa the wheel was introduced by European colonialism in 19th century. That shows there was absolutely NO connection between those two parts of the continent. You have to do more research!
@vernonrobinson1685
@vernonrobinson1685 7 ай бұрын
@st3019 Ancient Egypts pre dynastic civilization was Nilo Saharan, aboriginal Africans. The wheel or lack thereof doesn't change that. By that logic, Japan had no wheel so it has no connection to China or Korea for the same reason. YOU need to more research instead of scoffing.

@@aaronhill212 You first...Show verifiable documentation that Sheba married Solomon and had his son. Show any proof that the Ark of the Covenant went to Ethiopia. I may not be an expert on Ethiopia, but when they pretend things that involve Israel, in that realm I am aware of truth more than most. Their claims to having the Ark are pure fiction. @@aaronhill212 Since you have not responded. Let us look at the facts according to the bible..."Sheba was a queen of her own country"...She traveled on what one would call a state visit. "Solomon treated her as a King would treat a foreign leader". "She gave him gifts from her country"..."He gave her gifts from his"..." She returns home"...All this happens in the space of one chapter, in the bible. It doesn't take a genius to see the truth of it. No child, no marriage, no stealing away the Ark(that remained in Jerusalem well after his death). Many things that have happened in history have been corrupted into false myths. Very beautiful documentary. Two things that are incorrect that I think are worth noting is 1. At 30:00, the Azmaris are not singing in Ge'ez, they are singing in Amharic. (A language that derives from the ancient Ge'ez.) 2. Christianity in Ethiopia is not specific to the Axum region, and was practiced before the 4th century. It was handed directly by the Disciple Philip in the 1st century AD. (Acts 8:26-40)

Awesome thanks so much for providing this documentary. I'm intrigued about how they use the ancient biblical calendar system, if needed along side the Gregorian. I can't find much information about it at all.

There is small Museum behind the Mariam Zion Church in Axum. The Chief of the Museum told me this: The Ethiopian Kings prayed before the Ark of the Covenant, and then cut some Royal hair off, and left it beside the Ark before they rode out to Battle. I call this TRUE FAITH in the CREATOR! Much thanks from Holland! The CREATOR bless you ALL!

Your deep beauty and power is boldly feasible from your face and the way you talk and walk. Your full admiration for the ancient Ethiopian civilization, culture and history, could not hide the sadness from your face which is caused by the current standard of living of the Ethiopians. I finished watching this documentary struggling to control my tears. You are an absolutely beautiful and natural woman! May God bless you abundantly!

Rhys Howells was the founder of 'The Bible College of Wales'. Throughout the war with Italy, all the students of the college prayed for Ethiopia and their Emperor each morning and his son attended the college. In the book Rhys Howells Intercessor there are two letters of thanks and gratitude to him and the students from the Emporer.
