Akuma's Full Story Leading into Street Fighter 6

He definitely isn't a fan of the main spotlight, but despite that fact Akuma has proven to be one of the most popular and prominent characters in all of Street Fighter. The demonic warrior is one of the most commonly seen characters across not only Street Fighter titles, but also crossover and guest appearances over the years.
Though he's not been officially revealed for Street Fighter 6 yet, we'd be exceedingly surprised if Capcom didn't eventually bring Akuma to their next game. We've put together a video covering the events of his story throughout the franchise timeline leading up to SF6 as well as imagining what directions developers may take him in next.

Alpha 3 still has the sickest intro in fighting games. Akuma flies in with the Raging Demon, Gen BLOCKS it, counters with his super, which Akuma blocks. Fight starts. SO cool!

I honestly want to see the next Akuma be the "Master Akuma". I actually WANT him to master the Satsui No Hado. If nothing else, it would make him unique in that he would be one of the "Evil Power Users" who can actually master and utilize it instead of succumbing to it. I think it would do wonders for how they're able to personalize him a bit more and flesh him out as a character instead of just a vehicle for "Bad Ryu".

This is exactly how capcom seem to be retconning Akuma. In SF3 akuma is losing it and becoming more violent - he's succumbing to the satsui no hado. However in SF5 Akuma seems more mellow, he respects Ryu's decision to shun the satsui no hado - Actually calls him by his first name Ryu for once 😂 Also his dialogue with Kaga indicates that Akuma now understands that in order to transcend he needs something beyond the satsui no hado. He actually seems to be doing the impossible and taming the satsui no hado and making it bend to his will alone.

We've had Evil Ryu and Kage, now it's time for Violent Ken to shine again. It would be cool if Akuma chilled out but then BroKen found him and forced him to teach him Satsui no Hado.

Here's something most sf fans don't realize Whether Capcom Games Intended it or not,in the Street Fighter games the Story of Akuma/Gouki and Gouken's paths is being Told Through Ryu's own Journey...based on the path he chooses of the Warrior ,In the main canon of SF,Ryu has Mastered the power of Nothingness(Mu no ken)after years of finally Purging himself of the satsui No hado,Following in the path of his Master Gouken, learning of a peaceful way to Teach Ansatsuken,While evil ryu's storyline is basically a what if timeline where Ryu Gives into the Satsui No hado Abandoning his Humanity becoming Like Akuma in the Process and the new Master of Fist. Ryu is a Reflection of both Masters in their Prime

I believe Akuma influence on Ryu is no more. Ryu tamed all the darkness in hinself. So now Ryu will be the one to influence Akumas history. Maybe he will try to make him human again

I would like to see some role reversals. With Ken leaks looking to give him a more desperate anguish. I’d like to see Ken going to the dark side. Meanwhile ryus and gouken proving nothingness to be the more worthy journey, akuma renounces the dark and attempts to humble himself as a monk and now hopes to persuade ken to NOT become the next akuma. I think that would be super cool.

4:45 actually that battle we see of akuma and gouken in the sf4 trailer is Before SF4 because Akuma is shown to have done the raging demon on him...that was after SF1 and ryu and ken assumed gouken died

Considering the leaked character art, pretty sure Akuma will be in the base roster. Maybe he gives up on Ryu but instead, sets his sights on manipulating Ken. It could all be a possible set up for canon violent Ken.

Interesting theories there, and i do agree that Ryu may have grown out of the Akuma story line. But maybe AKUMA decides to get Ken to embrace the Satsui No Hadou instead. Looks like SF6 Ken’s story line he got framed for terrorism, maybe he gets frustrated and just embraces the evil side. Would be a cool way to bring Evil Ken into the mix

If it is then Ryu won’t win he’s maybe the main character of SF series, but there’s a reason why Akuma is the first guest fighting game character so if you think Akuma will lose just because Ryu is the main character of the series then you’ve another thing comin.

My fave episode of the SF 90s cartoon was when Guile & M.Bison had a temorary allience to escape an island that was about to be destroyed by a volcano. In the episode, Akuma goaded Guile & M.bison to meet each other there, before challenging them both to a 1 vs 2 match

I like how Akuma is heavily implied that he is Ryu's father yet its not been confirmed,I still will see him as Ryu's dad despite it not being canon.Make so much sense in story for Goken to raise his nephew etc.

happy 35th anniversary street fighter!!! :3 with how part of akuma's code has him wanting to not be controlled by his power(viewing m. bison as that and shin being his humanity clinging to him before going oni.) as a mindless berserker that he spares people like gen(with his words after being defeated in 5 haunting akuma.), doesn't attack innocents as far as been shown (just now found out him selling oranges like he did in the animated movie was canon/him helping a lost child though that concept of him taking care of a baby feels so odd on how that happened.)and trying to make ryu be influenced by the dark hado only for ryu to surpass it. would find it interesting if akuma did dive a bit maybe not to a full on alliance but what his path to mastery will look like as in 3 he's starting to show a bit of his age with grey hair reminding a bit he's still human and outside destroying that submarine(which for all we know could've belonged to gill or shadaloo's dying remains.) hasn't done huge scale villainy.(really don't need kage coming back as he should've just been a boss for ryu in story mode,if anything just have akuma get a taste of oni but after seeing that war god esque look for him on cfn's database could be a neat experiment.)

I'd really like it if they go with the foundling adoptive dad Akuma idea that never made it past the concept stage in SFV. It'd be a welcome change from how minor his story has changed over literally 3 decades. I'd like to see him turn back to a normal looking Gouki as he raises his kid and teach them his version of the Ansatsuken fighting style, softening his heart over time, and realizing how right Gouken and Ryu were about their views and ideals as opposed to Akuma's misguided beliefs. I imagine his baby eventually growing up to be the equivalent to a mean and stoic Sakura like character

Ryu and akuma become truly rivalries to be a mentor for him to become stronger for Ryu and also he would have me change of heart of what he did in his past to his sensei on another hand the other person that he fought on the part five of Street fighter will probably see in Ryu what he will unlock and to his full potential and akuma will show him how to harness the full power to be his sensei to be a good white aura which is positivity to become stronger and akuma will become better than he was being evil

Akuma is defeated by Ryu and probably killed off in the Manga Street Fighter III Ryu Final Volume 2. Probably not canon like most Street Fighter lore so who knows, still excited to see him return for SFVI

So did Ryu ever receive or finish the training from Oro? Ryu's strength should be unmatched only to Akuma's so SF6 Ryu should have new supers moves besides a hit-one fireball that takes a somewhat decent chunk of health bar. Shin Shoryuken has electricity now but I feel like whas the point if it doesn't build stun.

Parry has been a mechanic, though, and Gouken had one on IV so it's probably more relative to his style. Satsui no Hado destroys your soul according to your past sins, and Ryu mastering Mu no Ken would eliminate him having to parry anything in regards to that because Satsui no Hado is already rendered literally useless. But 🤔 it did cause Gouken to fall into a coma like state even with Mu no Ken, so maybe Ryu could still parry the actual hits since Mu no Ken doesn't seem to stop the actual damage, just protects your soul/keeps you alive.

Where does it say that the Shun Goku Satsu is karmic and based on the sins committed by the victim? It seems like one of those commonly accepted Mandela Effect things but it's only in a version of his ST/Alpha ending and that's a mistranslation and a misinterpretation of what it actually does. In that ending he's talking about Bison's sins specifically and people take it too literally. The Kanji that come up are "Isshun Sengeki" or one moment, one thousand strikes. So it just hits you a thousand times and causes your soul to suffer all those strikes in an instant, and they're all killing blows. It does that to everyone regardless of if you're good or evil. Even Gen who is regarded as an evil character was able to resist it using his own variation of the Power of Nothingness.

Pretty much... Evil Ryu has always been a "what if?" non-canonical character. Kage was introduced in SF5 as a canonical version of basically the same idea of a character.

Anyone here annoyed Akuma in SF6 has more hair on his head even when he has now out lived Gouken? The only power I envy from Akuma is how he keeps his hair! Better yet, Zeku can turn young again! That should be greatest of all time and ChunLi should learn from instead of now looking deflated of muscle tone and no where at all better looking than SFV. Haha!

the greatest question would be why does he look younger in 3rd strike when according to lore 3rd strike is 2nd to the last and happens after 4 and 5. in 4 and 5 akuma has lion hair and looks old. It doesn't make sense.

I feel Street Fighter is that game where.. You COULD realistically kill of a hero & it'd make sense or would potentially be fine. Cause you have the likes of Ken, Chun-Li and other "hero" type characters. Also, with a bit of bias... It would be really cool to watch a hero FINALLY lose. And Akuma being the one to end a heroes journey.

I doubt Akuma and Ryu will settle things in street fighter 6. Akuma is destined to become Oni and Ryu is destined to be the one to stop him. So I can imagine later down the line near the next endgame like street fighter 5 was Akuma will become Oni and Ryu will be the one to finally stop him once and for all. They better....cause I am so sick and tired of capcom being too scared to kill off characters and makes fighters be "up for debate" If Bison comes back AGAIN i'm so done with this franchise.

Looking at their motivations, Akuma is drawn to power like Ryu is, why do they fight? It has all they have ever known, the pursuit of a limit that doesn’t exist, an insatiable desire to improve. While Ryu has turned this into the mental fortitude to never give up, Akuma actually just wants power, and clearly has a god complex. Not even Ryu knows by 3rd Strike why he fights in his ending, but is nevertheless unwavered by it. If we want to know what Akuma will be in SF6, we have to look at Ryu’s motivations in SF6 too.

i think that capcom should make 2 akumas one balanced for everybody to use and a akuma so utterly and disgustingly broken that u only need to connect a clean hit on him once to win the entire fight no second round for akuma to accentuate that he trained so over the limit to gain excessive amount of power that pretty much he is hanging to life by a thread. im talking about regenerating super bar, super jumps, instant teleports, mvc style shinkuuhadokens, when supers r performed they affect the stage and off course tod combos

I think we’ll soon see RYU defeating Akuma at some point of this stage but still ain’t happening- btw UDON comics and the other manga versions of Ryu seemingly defeating Akuma doesn’t count. Nether the less he counts as top 1 among the strongest fighter in SF series.

Akuma called oni "a shadow that rages at what casts it" in sfxt but we dont get 2 see them throw down , oni needs 2 b explored more... the whole gud guy power ov nothingness being stronger than akuma mastering oni form would b a huge let down and extremely corny, best thing they can do for Akuma is 2 make him the unstoppable force 2 ryus immovable object

Can you explain why Oni isn't canon, who said this? If we play Kage's arcade mode in SF5, he will get ending where he fight versus Oni. Majority of endings in SF5 are canon.

Oni is a what if character when akuma sheds ALL his humanity. And no the transformation adjusts wrath is not canon either,it was just a fun Fan service

Unpopular opinion, the only way to make Akuma interesting to me at this point would be to switch up his method of training. What if, after seeing what peaceful existence does for Ryu, Akuma seeks a similar power. Not being a good guy, but simply by being more in touch with the earth? Maybe he tends to wildlife or helps people lost in frozen tundras. Something where his training involves training of his perception of the world.

Akuma just uses the Satsui No Hado to grow stronger. Bro has a fruit stand and refuses to fight anyone obviously weaker than him, or even disadvantaged. He actually Lost to Ryu, but I don't know if he was going all out or not. I actually enjoy how he's portrayed and how he goes out of his way to help the less fortunate.

After watching this video, I realize it killed some of my brain cells. Akuma’s name is different because it was changed from the Japanese name.. after that I stopped watching..
