My mother died 4 years ago and she played Al Bowlly all the time. This brings back so many memories of her, such a lovely lady. I knew it would bring tears on listening, but I had to anyway.

Bowlly's tragic death in the London Blitz in 1941 i feel has led him to be overlooked a lot. He had a sweet voice & is credited with starting the crooning style. Nice easy listening music.

This is the opening song to a series of albums by a 14 year old artist called “The Carebear”. The album series is called “Everywhere at the beginning of nowhere”, and the first song is slowed version of this called “I’ll be remembering you”. Its a series dedicated to replicate the effects of dementia in audio form.

Agree , Jack Rescoe & Barbara nichols. This music and rendition is from a very special era. It is indeed 82 years old, and Al Bowly did lose his life in a German air raid, but to hear this song and to understand the times , provides a flight into history ; a time of hope and trust in the shadow of changing circumstances. The competence and committment of the dance band orchestra players back then, and Al Bowly and his calmness is a wonderful tapestry, of confidence in what was finally going to be, in freedom.

This song I believe was recorded in the 30's but at the ending of Kubrick's "The Shining" they imply that this song was playing at the 1921 July 4th ball at the Overlook Hotel. A ball that was held at the hotel 70 years prior to the Torrences arrival. Going by the films release date in 1980.
