Still to this day, this is the best speech ever given from any movie ever.

My senior year of high school football we listened to this speech before every single game. I still remember looking in my friends eyes and feeling like I would run through a wall for them. Amazing scene and an amazing speech delivered by an amazing actor.

It's his voice that motivates us

I don't know what to say really. Three minutes to the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Either we heal as a team or we are going to crumble. Inch by inch play by play till we're finished. We are in hell right now, gentlemen believe me and we can stay here and get the shit kicked out of us or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb out of hell. One inch, at a time. Now I can't do it for you. I'm too old. I look around and I see these young faces and I think I mean I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make. I uh.... I pissed away all my money believe it or not. I chased off anyone who has ever loved me. And lately, I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror. You know when you get old in life things get taken from you. That's, that's part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out that life is just a game of inches. So is football. Because in either game life or football the margin for error is so small. I mean one half step too late or to early you don't quite make it. One half second too slow or too fast and you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in ever break of the game every minute, every second. On this team, we fight for that inch On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that's going to make the fucking difference between WINNING and LOSING between LIVING and DYING. I'll tell you this in any fight it is the guy who is willing to die who is going to win that inch. And I know if I am going to have any life anymore it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch because that is what LIVING is. The six inches in front of your face. Now I can't make you do it. You gotta look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes. Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. You are going to see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows when it comes down to it, you are gonna do the same thing for him. That's a team, gentlemen and either we heal now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That's football guys. That's all it is. Now, whattaya gonna do?

I can remember this speech word by word, and every time before test or exam, i would imagine Al Pacino saying it to me

I've played football all my life, and i'm a senior this year, this year was my very last year in football, i've never realized how much i'm gunna miss it, until i've watched this video

This is, by far, the most inspirationnal speech I heard in a movie! And I listen to it once in a while! It reminds me why I train and why I love team sports! Inch by inch! Goose bumps every time he says : "it's gonna be the fucking difference between winning and loosing. Between living and dying!!"

That speech would give any athlete or team an inner drive and fire they never knew was possible and make them execute their all time best performance. Heck I would run through a brick wall if that speech was given to me in real life.

i was on the racquetball team back in college, and played in numerous tournaments along the east coast. had this speech on my ipod, and listened to it before each match to get me fired up. ended up winning my division my last tournament as an undergrad, and this always reminds me of that.

i remember when i first heard this speech... my freshman year. we had lost 2 straight games to divison opponents. guys were getting into fights the entire week at practice. all of us so pissed off and frustrated. it was our last game against our rival. the coach put this on right before we went out on the field.... and we fought as a team to get that fucking inch. great speech pachino.

i just heard this speech thursday. coach played it on repeat during pregame. the biggest game of the year against our rivals already. durin the entire game the fight for inches was ringing in my ears. every damn play it was there. we won 35-31 because of 2 min drill in the 4th qtr. it was 3rd and goal on the one we qb sneaked it right behind me. as i made that block all i could hear was fight for every inch.

the year was 2006 it was our final rugby game of the season(the biggest game of the season) i will never forget sitting in the changing room with 22 of my friends not being able to say a word because we all understood what the chalange that laid ahead of us what all about.............this speach that was played to us(all 22 of us) and by the end of this speech we were all ready to give our lives for Table View 1St team rugby in Cape Town, South Africa!!!! we won the game...........
