I really appreciate Al's take on the "no-sell" cancer that has killed Pro Wrestling. I think of Jackie Chan movies when Al talks about in-ring work. Jackie gets over in every movie he's in because he sells the shit out of everything. He also never dominates fights, he gets beat up terribly by the merciless "bad guys", but eventually makes the improbable comeback that we root for. It's incredible that the new gen only sees the big spots, and fails to make the big spots matter.

It's always the mid card guys that are the best at their craft. I swear to god.

Those 8 moves he was talking about brought me back to my childhood and seeing these very things in the ring and every wrestler selling the shit out of them. You don't really see that kind of intricacy in a match anymore.

Al Snow was one of the most underrated wrestlers. At the same time he said that he did not understand his gimmick and he did not understand how big he was.

I want a Dr House-like show where Al Snow plays a wrestling detective called in when matches are accused of being a shoot. We can call it Dr. Snow.

I wish Al would tell the current roster these things. Most of the current roster doesn't sell properly. Someone will get kicked in the head, and they'll just fall backward instead of holding their head. Or Goldberg or someone will land a spear, and, instead of doubling up or acting winded, the guy will just lay flat on his back like he's dead. Fucking ridiculous.

Al is still the main reason why I watch these videos.

I love listening to Al explain the psychology of wrestling, and what makes it work. It explains why he's so good at teaching people how to wrestle.

In Japan they use forearm and open palm strikes, and oftentimes they go as stiff as they can to each other as sort of a real contest of wills between the wrestlers amidst an otherwise fake fight.

Preach, Al Snow! Preach! Because more and more wrestlers started no-selling the basics, they've trained "fans" to think a "good match" is based on the risk and number of highspots a match has, than the actual progression of the match.

I always remember the Road Warriors going up against a real heel tag team like the Midnight Express, and the heels would always cut them off with a thumb to the eye. Even the Road Warriors sold the eye poke. The commentary was great too "of course there's no eye machine in the gym". Perfect!

Al Snow was on an episode of Guest Booker. I forget the storyline he was reimagining, but he spent 45 minutes detailing out his philosophy as a Booker. My favorite part of that was his explanation as to why he loathes the phrase "best match". It's a really good watch, and I would highly recommend it.

Love Al's perspective on all of it. He's giving it to em unfiltered and smart.

"You never throw that punch unless it's a finish" yup and the same thing goes for every other wrestling strike or a grapple used as a finishing move. If you limit the amount of times you use it during a match and only do it to pin them or make them submit, it's a lot more effective.

Vi think in 2017 there was a match on SDLive between AJ and James Ellsworth, where AJ threw a punch at Ellsworth and Dean Ambrose (who was the special guest ref) got on AJs case saying that the closed fist punch was illegal... I never knew what that meant until now... Great Vid!

I remember no too long ago when they have the rule of not hitting with fist close, and super plexes were actually a big deal back then until everyone done it.

Best wrestling video I've seen in a long time. Boy do I miss Gorilla Monsoon. When commentating he used to call out illegal moves, even karate ! Did you know that kicking an opponent when your foot is not flat in a stomp was illegal. The referees used to admonish wrestlers for separating fingers, and stretching the mouth. Yes the punch was always illegal until a couple years ago. Wrestlers were required to use a forearm or an open hand strike. Look at videos of wrestlers in the 70s. Now you have Roman Reigns and others closed fist punching at will. No, it's not believable, it's not even wrestling.

I wrestled the independents around Ohio/Michigan from 2003-2012. Did an Al Snow seminar around 2008 changed my entire approach to wrestling. Side note sounds like the bar he mentioned should sell tickets for fights 😂😂
