A drone strike killed Ayman Al-Zawahiri leader of Al Quaida on 31 July 2022. This video illustrates his safe house in the Pershur neighbourhood, Kabul, Afghanistan. It shows where the house is exactly and what it looks like. The missile used is a special version of hellfire that has no explosives and instead uses momentum and cutting blades that deploy just before impact. The strike happened at 6:18 AM as Al-Zawahiri went out onto his balcony as part of his regular morning routine. The house is close to the Omid high School. It is located near to Embassies in the Kabul Green Zone.

His dead came 10-20 years too late. If he had been killed in the early 2000s or perhaps in 2011 or 2012 it might had a bigger impact. The worst part is that he not only survived the War in Afghanistan (2001-2021) from the beginning to the end without being killed or captured. But he also survived the US drone War in Pakistan (2004-2018) without been killed or captured. Not many of The big Al Qaeda leaders can brag about that.The only upside to his dead is that it might provides a small measure of peace to the victims of 9/11 and their families. But it is a small, symbolic and Pyrrhic victory given the thousands of lives that has been lost and the huge amounts of money and resources that was use to find and kill him, plus the fact that his killing took place nearly a year after the US lost the War in Afghanistan. He lived long enough to witness the US defeat and stand side by side with The Taliban as a victor in The War in Afghanistan (2001-2021). So in a way he won against the US even though he was killed by them in the end. In my opinion They should have killed him and Bin laden at The Battle of Tora Bora in 2001 then they had the chance. It was a big mistake to let them both survive, after which they could boast of having fought against, survived and escaped the most powerful and high-tech war machine in the history of the mankind. It turned them into legends in the terrorist world. Yes the US got him in the end, but not before he had burned his name into the historybooks alongside Bin laden.

Idk, to those who have been paying attention, this is a pretty satisfying way for him to go. He basically had a airplane like device flown into the top of his building. Don't think I need to further spell out the delicious irony of that.

to be more precise, momentum is a measure of inertia in motion. In order for any mass to pass on enough kentic energy to become deadly it is the inertia that is relivent.

But thanks Jim next time I require a lesson on the transfer of momentum i will keep you in mind 🤣 But please feel free to explain as to how an object in motion without inertia could possibly transfer its kinetic energy for if it was in a zero inertial frame its relative kinetic energy would be zero.

There's no way a drone like that could get through Russia's air defenses unnoticed. This strike only worked 'cause Taliban has essentially zero air defense radars (and at least one of Afghanistan's neighbors let the USAF/CIA use their air space to get the drone into Afghani airspace).

You know what? Those guys are realy love been martyred in battlefield. You need to risk someone on the ground. Trying to hide in Taliban controlled Kabul is very dodgy. And as you say it is unspectacular.

amazing that we now have the capability to fire a missile with the accuracy that it does not need to explode to kill its target.... a direct hit on a man sized target is almost unthinkable...
