It makes sense that the shoddy masonry would be in the parts of the building hidden from sight. The collapse was likely the result of a decision made by the original builders to cut costs.

This is the good type of old school youtube content I miss. The algorithm just recommended this for some reason. Maybe because I was in a 9/11 wormhole, and the collapsing steeple is similar in a way. Nonetheless, good video... salute!

Ask a metallurgist to cross a ravine and he will make you a bridge, ask a polymer-composite engineer and he will make you a cord to balance on. Works equally well, one just requires a lot more skill and attention to work with.

I feel like the transcript being real or not is irrelevant. from my understanding they knew they were gonna die before the titan imploded. there's a video on KZfaq that shows how carbon fiber behaves before it fails. my understanding is that carbon fiber will start to creeking and popping under stress. gradually getting louder and more dramatic as more stress is applied. then when it fails it resembles tempered glass as it shatters in to many pieces in an instant. I'm almost sure they knew they were gonna die well before they actually did. ive heard people that were on the sub say they heard firework like popping and Stockton rush himself even forwarned his previous passengers to expect these noises as they are just the submersible acclimating to its surroundings. I think these noises were heard as they got to the implosive depth and most likely Stockton just ignored them as he has before assuring his passengers that it was normal. the alarm he had n place probably went off a second or 2 before it imploded. my opinion

One of humanity's worst shortcomings. Hubris. We tend to believe that something couldn't possibly ever occur until it does. Thus, we allow unsafe architecture to perpetuate because it "adds character" to the area.

Hm, I must admit I at first believed them, only because so many credible sources (or so I thought) seemed to report them as nearly confirmed essentially. I thought they sounded a bit odd for comms during such a thing, but I don't know nearly enough to have disputed it.

The RBMK reactors had multiple automatic shutdown devices, which tripped repeatedly during the testing----plant operators overrode the safety devices each time. Had they left the safety devices alone, the plant would've shut down on it's own and everything would've been fine

Sad that they tore down the rest of the building! In Sweden there are several examples of how to perserve a facade of a building but totally renew the interior. The place could have been a really cool office space or something. With the two remaining towers, the wall out to the street and and the altar section. There was a fire destroying a market house (kind of bazar house in Uppsala, Sweden) ... the interior and the roof were totally burnt out. But the bricked walls here still standing. Today the facade looks like before the fire but the interior is completely new and modernized and it still is a "bazar" place with restaurants and small shops for expensive food ... :)

Chernobyl disaster led to loss of 95% of nuclear fuel, only 5% ( about 10 T ) remained on place and was confined by sarcophagus. In Fukushima all fuel remained on place during disaster and poses a more problem in a long term. In Chernobyl first explosion on 1:23:45 ( detected by US satellite as a blue flash) recent studies describe as a nuclear explosion with power of 10T of TNT, in over-critical nuclear reaction participated from 3 to 30 fuel assembly rods of total 1,600 rods. Products of explosion reached 3km altitude and cloud reached Cherepovets metallurgy plant north of Moscow, where radiology probes were taken on April 29 1986. Fission products were found, including 239 Ne93 and 239 Pu94, 135Xe54 /135mXe54 ratio was determined at 22. During normal critical reaction in reactor ratio is 35, during nuclear explosion in a bomb ratio is 11. Result showed over-critical reaction. Second explosion of Hydrogen/air mixture was on 1:23:47 with power of about 100T of TNT, 10 times more powerful than first explosion, it was a volume explosion and imploded materials inside of building, not outside.Radioactivity levels in Fukushima will remain high over 10 Sieverts for decades inside reactor buildings In Chernobyl maximum 1 Sievert levels could be found only in a few small spots inside sarcophagus. Contamination area in Chernobyl is shrink to 10 km radius , while in Fukushima contamination is spreading into Pacific Ocean and not fully confined yet.

Dear AliExpress, there is ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE in telling me a cable is 8k Do you mean it can transfer 8kb/s? Like a potato if it had data transfer capabilities? Or that it has an 8k display hidden in one of the usb ports? If yes Why did you put it in there? Are you stupid?

Ok it's time to address this BBVA ad cause I'm sick of having 2 ads per start of video 4% annual interest on max deposit of 1'000'000€ Until 30/01/2025 We are in may, so almost half year is gone, this takes us to 2,3% interest max Or 23'000€ every 1'000'000€ It's something but NOT 4% And it's before taxes

Excellent modelling and analysis 🧐. 2 days ago I've seen 700 yo church in Chelmno, Poland. The conditions of the building are kinda scary. Seems it's closed, but 30m away is building of the school which has 200+ pupils in it 10 months of the year ... I hope this church has better survey than one in the video. I've seen some renovation works, but now it looks even worse ... although on streets view does not look as bad as in reality (53.348933960136684, 18.41984184998742)

In Harris' novel Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal Lecter discloses that he 'collects' church collapses. Something in his sadistic nature finds the destruction of the faithful by the expression of their faith amusing and ironic. Atheists are tempted into tasteless gloating by the obvious irony. But if I were religious, I would never find my faith challenged by a church collapse, for the same reason that I, as an atheist, love, visit and study churches: they are masterworks of human engineering. They were built by masons, not heavenly forces. If God built a church it would stand forever, but would also be unimpressive. But when humans build one, I find it astonishing. When one collapses, the autopsy is a study of human shortcomings, not divine betrayal.
