Thanks for appreciating that does of inspiration and positivity! Alamat does this. They dare tackle important issues and make us really appreciate who we are as Filipinos although the themes are also quite universal. The inclusion of the Aeta girl and teens are heartwarming and is a rare occurence in local mainstream media.

Thank you for reacting Alamat’s latest single ABKD (ABAKADA) it’s the Filipino “ABCD” . Lyrics is so simple but everyone needs it. It’s a motivational song. The MV concept is also powerful. I’m glad u like it

This song and MV is so inspiring and uplifting. But, I also feel like there are some cultural references that non-Filipinos and even some Filipinos might miss so I have this explanation of some "Easter eggs" that hopefully would help others appreciate even more what Alamat and their team are doing. - at the start of the MV, the little girl is looking up at a billboard saying "Ugly no more" and a series of faces. I believe this is a critique on beauty ads that always attempt to tell society that if you don't have (a) light skin, (b) straight, smooth hair, then you can't be considered beautiful. It's an ad strategy that affects the self-esteem of some young women who are led to think that this could be true, even if its actually not. Alamat is trying to say that each of us is beautiful in our own way and there is no standard of beauty. - Alamat sings to the little girl that no matter what or who she is, she should believe in herself and go learn stuff and chase after her dreams. "Lakad pasulong / Walk forward". One of my favorite lines in the song "B - Bagbagin mga balakid / B - Break all the barriers" (and there's a reason for that which i will explain in a later point) - In a later scene, the girl is in school uniform but there are "crabs" trying to bother her. The "crabs" symbolizes the "crab mentality" of some people: the haters. Crabs in the bucket are known to drag the ones that have risen above them trying to escape and brings them back down to the haters's level, even if escape can be easily attained. "If I can't succeed, I won't allow you be successful. You can't be better than me". Haters love to bring hard working people down because they themselves cannot perform as well as those that reach for their dreams. They represent some of the obstacles the girl has to go through. But those who find strength in themselves and those who care for them will rise up. Plus, the girl in school uniform, the lyrics "A-B-K-D, awitin mo" (A-B-K-D, sing it), "Bilang, isa, dalawa, tatlo" (Count 1-2-3) emphasizes the importance of education. - She gets to dance with Alamat and some other kids. This scene reveals where the kids come from. They pose with a sign: A crossed out word B-word. And a checked word: Ayta. The little girl belongs to the Philippines's original settlers before the Austronesians (current people group) came to the islands. They are the Aeta/Ayta/Adta/Ati. They are the indigenous people of the Philippines and are related to the Aborigines of Australia, and the people of Papua New Guinea. They started detaching themselves from mainstream society ever since the Spanish colonial times and retreated to the highlands away from mainstream society and it continued during the American years, and even up to the current times. Nowadays, their young men and women have little by little started to come down to the acquire for themselves the benefits, education and careers that mainstream society can give them. And while these young people go through everything other young ones like themselves do, they have to deal with additional issues as well. There are still idiots out there that try to ridicule people because you are "too dark" (and even if you are "too white" for that matter). This song tells every little kid out there that no matter the problems you face, the haters that try to bring you down, the obstacles that get in your path, you can deal with all of that, as long as you are strong, and as long as there are people who care... and there are many out there who do. You just have to find them. "Bayanihan, ikaw, ako / Help each other, you and me" - Finally, the little girl sees herself in a billboard. "Mundo mo ito" - This is your world. Yes, this world is for everyone. No matter who you are, no matter what you are. This is your world. And this MV does not try to preach, it sings the song in a light hearted tone that is full of hope and inspiration. This MV has moved me so much that made me feel so much about our lives and our those of our children. I am so gosh-darned proud of Alamat. I might just post this in every reaction channel I can find :D

The little girl and the other kids/people dancing with them are Aeta/Aetas, collectively known as "Negritos". They are an indigenous people living in scattered, isolated mountainous part of Luzon Island. Sadly, Aetas are facing social discrimination because of their physical features and their practices. Although, there's a policy especially made for them, but it wasn't enough for them to be protected. Others are still experiencing deprivation when it comes to education, occupations and other opportunities. It is definitely the saddest reality here. I just hope the government will focus more on them. Alamat is doing very well in promoting the Filipino culture, obviously, they're doing their best through their music to introduce them to the public. Our indigenous people deserve to be treated well and fairly. This song is such an eye-opener. P.S. I hope I made sense. I'm trying my best to explain although I'm not comfortable enough in speaking English haha

This really is a happy-tears kind of song! It's nice that you felt that just like I did when I listened to the song during the lyric video release (which by the way commemorates Alamat's one-year anniversary since their debut with "kbye"). And the boys' vocals have improved so much to make this song that much more impactful. And of course the music video carries the message so well, and also addresses the plight of one of the Philippines's indigenous races. It's also neat that in this song they included one more Filipino language to their repertoire - Sambal, which is the language of Mo's province Zambales. They truly are doing their part to uplift Filipino culture and display it proudly for the world to see.

ABKD is the Filipino abugida i.e. like how the English has alphabet (Filipino abugida has an inherent 'a' on the consonants: A, B(a), K(a), D(a) Baluga is like the N-word. It connotes to dirty (because from the rural areas), stupid/illiterate (the amount of tertiary schooling for indigenous people is sadly very low as they have a hard time accessing education - they live in mountains and such), animal (because rural people have different manners than urban people ex. rural primarily eat with hands, walk w/o footwares, etc). Ayta is her band/tribe name as source of pride, belonging, culture and history. There are 3 Black Indigenous tribes in Philippines that I know (Ayta/Aeta/Ita, Agta, I forgot the 3rd) The boys were made to look like kids as she's a kid. Those were crabs to represent those who have crab mentality. This is very dear to Mo as eliminating Colo(u)rism is his advocacy. Colo(u)rism is an example of Colonial mentality which many countries tries to eliminate through education, national pride, and love/kindness.
