I love Alamat for bringing stuff like this to light. The little girl and the dancers at the end are part of the Aeta/Ayta ethnic group who face a ton of discrimination in the Philippines, in part because of their darker skin and curly hair texture. And the members have talked about how the chorus was deliberately made to sound like a nursery rhyme, so little kids could easily remember and sing a positive and encouraging song.

The girl in the video is of Aeta ancestry. Aetas are one of the many indigenous tribes that originally inhabited the Philippines. Aetas are also looked down upon and discriminated because of their dark skin. So it's a really special thing that Alamat featured them in the MV because it's somehow telling all Filipinos - and the world as well - that we are all one and the same regardless of our ancestral origin or skin color. Towards the end the girl danced with fellow Aetas and it was just so nice to see. Filipinos need to treat them more with kindness and fairness.

I love the meaning of this song and the positivity behind it. When you spoke about skin color and loving being brown, I’m the same. I am Filipino American, born and raised. Here, we of Filipino heritage love getting tan in the summer, and our white friends envy our brown skin. When my sister and I went to the Philippines for the first time as teenagers, we were shocked at the ads in magazines and the people on billboards-are they Filipino? Our relatives kept trying to put umbrellas over our heads, and we were like, what are you doing? I do think it’s important to take care of your skin, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with being brown-it’s beautiful. Have I experienced some racism through the years? Yes. But I am so proud of my heritage, and my friends think my being brown is a blessing. You are so beautiful, Hurraira, both inside and out❤

Valfer was pulled out of ALAMAT and given a solo career but the boys and he remain on good terms. Valfer has a different sound than all of them and the management felt he would be better off solo. They were right and ALAMAT is also better and more cohesive as they are now.
