Get more out of your Yamaha piano with Smart Pianist, a dedicated app for smart devices that provides various music-related functions when connected to a compatible Yamaha digital piano. A range of functions such as Transpose, Tuning, Pedal, and acoustic settings can be configured easily and intuitively from the touch screen. In addition to selecting piano Voices, you can use the Layer function to overlay Voices, or the Split function to play different Voices with the left and right hands. Smart Pianist analyzes the songs in your music library and displays the chord symbols so that you can play along with your favorite tunes. Love this app by Yamaha. It's why we bought the Yamaha CSP-170 digital piano - to sync with this app. Thanks for showing ALL the features, there were many I hadn't discovered yet.

My P-121 has two recording tracks, or one stereo track if I use the keyboard split, which is the only way to get the bass to work. So I cannot record bass then another instrument. This app, however, provides a solution. Yes, an important aspect of the record audio function (not mentioned in this review) is multiple layers. I have only just discovered it by mistake. So now, I can record bass, then piano, then vibes or whatever for practice backing tracks. It's so much better for me than hooking up to a computer DAW. I'm one happy user! Maybe the MIDI sequencer aspect has multiple layers too.

Good video, the only suggestion I have is to play the sound changes as you are showing whatever function you are demonstrating. On a video we would have to take your word that the app functions as shown.

Are the different piano voices available for all of the supported digital piano models, or is something like the Upright Piano voice limited only to models that already have that voicing within the piano itself?

Thanks for the video. It's a great app...Sadly, I asked to Yamaha why you can't loop one section on the Demo songs included (just for practising them) and they told me that feature it's not able in all piano models. I really don't know if that's really true beacuse I'm only own mine. Could you try it with the piano behind you?

I use the android version of this app and not all features that you mention work for me and the app only works on certain android devices. Seems like the android version is inferior to the ios version and Yamaha favour the ios devices.

Hello, thank you for all your videos which give us the opportunity to get to know our instruments better. After reading your video, I tried to pair my iPhone XS (IOS 15.5) to my YAMAHA P-515 via Bluetooth, but despite several attempts I still can't connect them together, because the app doesn't can't find my P-515. My keyboard is in Bluetooth mode, and I put it in "Bluetooth pairing". I would like to know if you know this problem, or if you have a solution so that I can finally use the "SMART PIANIST" application with my iPhone. Thanks a lot !

If I had one wish on this app it would be that it could connect via blue tooth to the P125. Having to have a cable and all the adapters ect is kind of a hassle.

The app does not cover all functions on the keybord. (for eks. on p515, did not find the effect menu on the app)

I have a Yamana P-125 piano and I'm using the Yamaha smart Pianist app on my apple I pad- when I hit songs Red river Valley I get a message says "When an Audio is selected, the Score cannot be displayed. Is there a way to fix that problem

Great Tool and great Videos. But what would happen, if Yamaha is withdrawing the App some time in the future? If you use it to unlock the features of the Piano, does it mean that the features would stay locked? Probably a question for Yamaha, but what are your thoughts on this?

Downloaded the app onto my android tablet. However, the app provides only a limited number of the features and voices that were shown in the video. For instance, the app only offers two piano voices while my Yamaha Arius piano offers several more. Also, when the app is connected to the piano it will override and disable the controls on the piano instrument. So, not using the app gives me a better range of choices. The app has been a disappointment.

If you're in a live situation and you want to send signal to the house, do you need to run it from the ipad or iphone or can you still run it out of the piano sends?

Im sorry but your review is terrible. You don't reply to any of the questions being asked here. Also you don't explain the difference between the android app and the apple/ipad app. These are very important to be able to make a decision. I read in the android play store that the app doesn't work well at all. It would be great if you gave an honest answer and did the research on this.
