I remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. I was in 8th grade and i was in mrs. Sauer's class and everybody was glued to the tv in shock. It was one of those moments you never forget. R.I.P always to the victims and their families🙏 we will never forget that tragic day.

I was a NYC First responder. I was a Paramedic and a Detective from 1987-2008. This song really hits home. I am still losing friends through cancers and suicide.

I was 39 at the time this occured! The first thing I did was called the schools to check on my kids and called my husband cause he was working on a tractor and I knew he wouldn't know yet what had happened! I am a nurse and ironically I was attending an education class on how to handle a crisis in the ER such as warfare! We were on break when the news came on TV. President Bush was in Florida at an Elementary school not far from where I live when this tragedy occured. Needless to say...our class never resumed that day!! A day in my lifetime I'll NEVER forget!!😢❤

I was 20 when 9/11 happened. It still holds a lot of bad memories for me. I do not like to listen to anything about it. Not that I was anywhere near there, but still. I love the I Love Lucy reruns mention in this song, because a lot of people don't know, or don't remember afterwards, all channels seemed to only play what was going on in the tragedy. One channel played I Love Lucy 24/7. It's what I watched to forget about what was going on. Unfortunately, the show is now linked to the tragedy in my mind, as I haven't been able to watch it since either. This song is a masterpiece. Always makes me tear up. Alan Jackson is amazing.

I was a Senior in High School when this happened we were in our ROTC Class, and I just remember all of the shock faces, and because of the seriousness of it all we couldn't even wear our uniforms the next day because then we could be possible targets for terrorists.

I worked for a credit union at the time and we tried to carry on business as usual but we were all crying. It was all surreal. We didn't understand why something like this was happening. Prayers still today for those who carry scars from that day.

I was 21 just starting the real party years of my life. I woke up on a buddies floor turned on the tv and watched it happen. Woke up my buddies and told them I need to go home and be with my mom and dad brothers.

I remember 9/11 very well. I watched Alan sing this song live on television. The nation needed healing and this was there to help. Ray Charles also helped heal the nation at the world series baseball game when he sang "America the beautiful" to a packed stadium less than 2 months after the attack. Check it out! It's on youtube. I was at my University at the time (thank God a Catholic school). The administration brought us all together in the gymnasium for a day of prayer and we had a Mass for the fallen. My faith in Christ was what sustained me that day! After that I called my Parents and Grandparents back in Georgia to let them know I was safe!

Alan has (I believe) a couple of Gospel albums as well. For another song with a great message, there is a song by T. Graham Brown called Wine into Water. It is a song he wrote with a couple of songwriter friends about how after years of failing to stop his alcohol abuse, he turned to God. T is an amazing singer. While he is primarily known as a country singer, he has a real bluesy and soulful voice and style. Worth a listen guys.

My teacher used her lunch break to make a Walmart run and heard about it while there and when we returned from lunch we watched the coverage until school let about about an hour or so later. I started my career in 1991. We lost 343 Firefighters that day and many more public servants. What some people don"t realize is we are still losing first responders to this day from sicknesses caused by breathing in toxic chemicals. The pain may have stopped for some, years after this tragedy, but for others it continues to be a daily struggle.

I had just got stationed at Ft Rucker, al (active duty army). We were still living in Temp housing. My hubs went to base to see some of our friends. I had some time, so I turned the tv on, and Little House on the Prairie came on. I can remember my brain telling me “don’t watch this episode, it’s super sad and I don’t want to be sad today”. So next station was CNN that’s when the second tower was hit.

I was a Medic in the Army stationed in Korea when 9/11 happened. We were locked down on our post for 30 days and then they only allowed soldiers that had to PCS to leave for a while after that

Hi ya'll.... It was the scariest day of my life and I was in Indiana! My oldest son had just been born in June and I woke up to nurse him and turned on the tv to see it happening live....... Horrific!!! Another great reaction :)

I must've been in the only school in America that didn't show what was happening that day on the TV. Everyone else who talks about it says they got to watch it in class. Our substitute teacher kept periodically returning to our room telling my homeroom teacher what was going on as it was happening. Our parents didn't come to pick us up. Or at least mine didn't. Lol I remember that day very vividly. I was 9 and in the 4th grade. I remember more details, down to the exact radio station, their words when the news of the first plane broke over the radio, and the exact place on my bus route I was when I first heard it. But for the sake of keeping this "short" I'll just leave it here.

I watched the videos of the news from that particular day and the days after every year on the anniversary, and cry like a baby.. I will never forget what happened that day to our country.

A GOD THING -- My husband was at work in the US State Department in Washington DC. I was at home in West Virginia. I happened to pass the TV and heard the news . . . the reporter said that a few reports had said that the State Department had been hit! the phones were all either out, or else the lines were jammed with an overflow. I had no way of knowing whether my husband was in dead or in danger. I wasn't sad or scared -- I was instantly filled with such an energy of RAGE, I could grabbed a sword and marched off to war right then and there! But I had to go pick up our youngest son, who was at school. All the other mothers were gathered around whispering and weeping, but I was just furious. Several long hours later I got a call from my husband, super brief, that he was okay and was coming home, but not sure how long it would take. I heard the story some hours later, but I still get chills to think of it. . . The State Department had been evacuated, so he had to leave his office. The trains were halted, and Union Station was locked up tight. He looked for phone booths, but the lines were all down. He was figuring he would have to sleep on a park bench with his trench coat for a blanket, and it was getting chilly at that time of year. But he thought he'd walk around Union Station just one more time, praying as he went. As he rounded one corner, he saw an acquaintance from the train, one who lived in our town! Together, they walked around the next corner, and lo and behold, walking toward them was yet another acquaintance from our West Virginia town -- this one had driven in to work that day! They knew that roads were blocked off, but Jack pointed out where he had parked. Again they started walking. AS they drew closer, they realized that Jack's jeep was parked one-half block beyond the cordoned off area. They stepped OVER that yellow cordon, got in the jeep, and drove HOME to WV and home to me! The meeting of those 3 men was a miracle. The fact that the jeep was parked outside of the corded off area was a bigger miracle still. God was with my husband that day for sure!

This song meant so much. I was in high school, and I remember every part of this day. They put a bunch of chairs in the common area, and we watched, in silence. Then, the Principal came and told a fellow classmate her loved one was gone. She broke down, and the silence upon her screams were deafening!

I was 12 I was in Arizona at the time and out their it was about a quarter to six am for I always got up early to feed our cows horses goats and chickens and then get a early start on my harder subjects in school and when you are homeschooled and you are fourth oldest of 21 you look for those few times a day when it's quiet to do the subjects you struggle in and for me it was math and my dad heard me and called me in where he was watching the morning news and the first tower was hit and I watched their in shock then I saw the second tower get hit. And please never forget those that chose to die on their plane when they found out where their hijacked was headed and what had already unfolded! I listened to the audio on one mans phone call to his wife, He told her he Loved her and his children and told her that he and the rest of the passengers were going to bring down the Plane before it reached it's destination! 911 was your generations Kennedy assassination. I was in fourth grade when he was killed and remember it so well. I told my nine year old daughter at the time she would always remember this.

Be a spouse / children of military members. My husand was in the Marines and on base. Couldnt get in touch with him for several hrs. They locked the bases down and put multiple active duty from different units to work all the gates for 24 hrs shifts. They screened all thr card going in and out of base. Traffic was terrible and people eho lived on base went in the back and side gates to avoid the front gate because it was so busy.

I was working in downtown D.C. for a government intelligence agency, and had to evacuate the building because we were one of the possible targets of Flight 93, which is the plane that was taken down by the passengers in Pennsylvania. It was a terrible time. And this song captures it well.
