Years ago I worked for Northwest Airlines in Customer Relations. I cannot tell you how many people called me to complain that they missed their flight because they were told that it was delayed and ended up leaving on time. They left the gate area and were not there when it got put back on time. Always, always, always stay in or near your gate even if you are told that the flight is delayed. You never know.

They use many of the E75 on 4 hours long haul like ORD-PDX compare to AA/UA/DL, which is a bad thing since E75 has no power outlets in Y except in F, also when you are on E75 it would be either Skywest or Horizon, they have quite inconsistent service to even lazy crews

Raleigh North Carolina is not on the coast. Unlike Seattle and Washington D.C. Although Washington DC is a little ways from the coastal area of the bay it is still effective by tidal flow. And by the world definition: Any cities that are effective by tidal changes are considered coastal cities. Due to the fact Raleigh is far enough away from the tidal flow means it is disqualified for cross country flights

I have a friend who is an Alaska flight attendant. He told me about the morning BNA-SEA flight (which sounds very similar to your RDU-SEA). Alaska doesn't have catering service at BNA. So the flight before has to being the catering for the flight in and flight out. Since you were the first flight out, the catering had to sit overnight. Which means they can't have certain things. And those were pre-covid procedures.

@B_Bodziak
@B_Bodziak 2 жыл бұрын
If no other airlines have the same route departing around the same time and are also serving food, hot food, other airlines are not going to serve the hot food. It's more of a competition thing than a catering situation because they all contract with the same catering companies in most cities. Even Delta in Atlanta doesn't have in-house catering. It's all contracted and those contracts do not allow for monopolies by one airline.
@titanbronco1627

The route I mentioned (BNA-SEA) and the route Jeb took (RDU-SEA), have competition. Alaska and Delta both have non-stop flights.

One Problem with this is American their partner airline does have catering out of BNA I have had it on an early morning from BNA to LAX. So it is not like it's not available they just aren't taking advantage of it that said it could also be affected by the construction that they have been doing out at BNA for the last few years.

The most memorable flight was Alaska Airlines from San Francisco to Anchorage. Left SF just at sun-up, flew over SF bridge cloaked in fog with only the towers showing and then followed the coast (on the left side if you spit out the window it would land in the Pacific, on the right side beach to mountains to the horizon) up to Anchorage. We saw the Pacific, Rockies, extinct volcano cones, Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helen and the snow capped mountains in Alaska. All in less than 4 hours. IFE doesn't have a chance.

Needless to say, y became a flight attendant with another major US carrier for 30 years. Very fond memories of AS.

Your video brought back memories. I lived in Spokane for 13 years and flew out of there many times I also remember the surreal experience of seeing the airport on September 12, 2001, when it was closed, there were planes from such airlines as TWA sitting at the airport that did not have flights into Spokane. I always loved flying into Seattle as it is one of the few places I would see planes from International airlines.

It gives me a big warm smile like the one on Alaska tails to know you just came to my town, FAI. I hope you saw all the DC6s and other cool/old/unique planes still operating from FAI. Alaska Airlines needs to update those seats. I have been on their 737NGs with updated seats like the A321s, but apparently there aren't that many. I've flown them a lot, have been MVP Gold for several years. There's rarely any problem with service on Alaska, but when there is, if you report it in "Alaska Listens" post-flight surveys, the company is very good about writing sincere apologies backed with $ credit. Thank you for all your reports, Jeb. You certainly helped get me through the pandemic, but I'll always keep watching your videos.

I'm intrigued to see your Airports Revealed segment of Seattle. My dad being a Captain for Alaska has spent much of his career flying in and out of Seattle, and it's certainly one of his least favorite airports. Mostly because of the traffic and long waits for takeoffs, especially around noon. You can end up being 20th or worst in line to takeoff if you don't get out of your gate in time. Or as you experienced, being too early means you might have to wait for a while before you can find a gate. As far as the reasoning for your delay, I might have an answer for that via my dad. The heat in the entire PNW brought temperatures like we had never seen (PDX shattered records three days in a row), and a lot of the ramp workers ended up taking the day off, and I can't say I blame them. However, that led to a serious short staffing of ground crews, so a lot of flights (including ones my dad flew that weekend) were delayed. 21/25 Jeb Score isn't too bad! If I had to guess about the strange RDU-SEA not being viewed as Transcon, it might have to do with the fact that Alaska, like you said, has only one flight a day there. However, Alaska has expressed that over the next few years they're focusing on establishing their routes with more frequency, rather than establishing new routes, so maybe that'll change soon. Hope you enjoyed your time in Alaska and Hawaii. Two of the most beautiful states in the US. Great job as usual Jeb.

I miss commuting out of that airport so much. It was the best to get in and out of almost every single day. I flew for a Delta regional and commuted from RDU to LGA, JFK, DTW and MSP for years and it was always pretty good.

I also recently flew to Fairbanks on AA. A321 neo from DFW. Also cold food even though the flight was almost 8 hours. Fresh bites was OK but not enough food on a flight of this length even though snack basket was also passed around. Centurion lounge had a 45 min wait to enter. I stormed off. Took the red eye back to O’hare. You are right these domestic recliner’s fall short. The gems of the trip were Denali, whitewater rafting. The drive from Fairbanks to Denali. Loved your mountain pictures.

I stand by Alaska and their in flight entertainment. I have fully played online games on it (sorry everyone else on the flight)! They are my favorite airline, and I agree with the lounge (I’d give it 8/5) and the people! Their employees seem so nice

Great video Jeb! I used to work at Alaska at RDU pre-pandemic and when you filmed the pushback and check-in I saw some familiar faces who I used to work with. Got to do many things as a ramp agent there. It is contracted by trego-dugan aviation at Raleigh. It was very fun but I had to move to the GSO area for college!

Seeing SEA like that is amazing.....I flew out of there about a year ago and you could hear a pin drop in there........Literally every shop/restaurant/bar in the airport was closed except for that central food court and a few Hudson News places
