This is the video of our 2023 moose hunt up here in Alaska. We were able to harvest another good sized bull this year. We are seeing very low numbers of moose the last 3 years. We had lots of snow again

The moose are all in Anchorage bro, oil drip stove cool mostly wood for us 1959 onward lived or been all over that beautiful country. Even was chased by rampant grizzly at 12yrs old, we shot some 64-66 inch rackers too. Now it’s awesome memories I live on at 71. Thanks for sharing y’all. Rev. Paul, Eustis Florida.

We still burn a lot of wood in the stove, during the night we turn the oil drip on so we don’t have to wake up every couple hrs

that oil drip stove brings back old memories of the 1980 in the Alaska National guard in January in Delta Ak 10 man tent and Yukon Stove and 55 gal drum of jet fuel we had for our UH-1H Helicopters a Sky Crank. 2 week operating in support of the Pipeline Cold War Days.

Congrats to your Dad on a nice Bull ! to bad on the moose numbers seems to be that way in a lot of areas , your 6x6's seem to do all right in the deep snow just curious have you ever looked into them over mold tracks that run over your tires like a argo trac ? ive seen on a video that someone in Alaska makes them , still a successful trip and great sunset ! thanks for the video !

Yes every year when it’s snowing like this. I’m not sure how they would do the rest of the year though. We only are in the snow once a year after this hunt the 6x’s get put away and we pull the snow machines out

Was that a Wolf that you filmed running down the hill ? Did you leave those sheds in the snowman ? I would love a shed like that ! I am from Western NY so you see why I would be excited lol Another great video !
@diyalaskanlifestyle7 ай бұрын
Ya we left the sheds we have a pile of them out there we bring home the nicer ones. That was a fox running

How do you like your 6x6 can ams? And would you buy it again nowing what you know now? Thanks. Great Video!
@diyalaskanlifestyle7 ай бұрын
The can am 6x’s are the only way to go we’ve had very little problems with them. We had can am xmr’s prior to the 6x’s and it’s night and day dif. The main prob we have is vapor lock/temp fuel pump failure only when very hot 3-4 hrs into pulling heavy loads into hunting camp. We are doing to send our ecm’s out to have them reflashed to burn more fuel to reduce egt’s to see if that helps

I don't know how long the season is, but if you come across a random bull in your travels, or in your yard, can you harvest it?
@diyalaskanlifestyle7 ай бұрын
Yes depends on area, around North Pole there is an area that is archery only. A lot of people hunt from the roads. So yes I could harvest a bull in my yard with a bow. Normal moose hunting season is 9/1-9/20

How do you like the 450 6×6 versus your 650 or 1000's.? I have a 650. Love my 650 but looking for a second for my girl. Just wondering if there ok or spend the extra on 650????
@diyalaskanlifestyle6 ай бұрын
The 450 does good. It def has less power then the 1000 we try to not load it down to much. I’d prob by the 650 if I was to do it again but I paid $11 k for it and it has got the job done. I did put a clutch kit in it
@colinfredin6 ай бұрын
@diyalaskanlifestyle Good to know. Thanks for the reply. The 450 will prob get us by too and keep using the 650 fir the bigger loads. Thanks

You must like the 6x6. Been looking at a SXS 6x6
@diyalaskanlifestyle7 ай бұрын
In my opinion the canam 6x6 is the only way to go. Your average 4 wheeler won’t even come close. I can throw a whole moose in the back of my 6x and haul back to camp. With a 4 wheeler if you throw the moose in a trailer and try to cut cross country you will be hung up and stuck. We had the biggest baddest 4 wheelers canam made in 2012 XMR’s it was night and day difference when we went to the 6x’s
@maddog37377 ай бұрын
I wish one of you would get a set of Alaska bush tracks and run them through the wringer before I get some for my 6x6 😂
@diyalaskanlifestyle7 ай бұрын
We talk about how nice they would be every year when it snows like this. There was a used set for sale recently in Alaska for a decent price. I just don’t know how they will work for the rest of the year when you dont have snow
@maddog37377 ай бұрын
I have camso tracks for my ranger and they are great for the deep snow but I think the bush tracks would be better for swampy stuff and brush busting 🤷🏻♂️ plus I think a backcountry repair would be easier on the Alaska bush tracks. Great job on the moose and I appreciate the effort of making videos to bring us along!!! Hopefully next spring when I get back to my place in Ak it will be permanently!!!!

Some of the problems that I see with the way you guys hunt, is that you are all grouped together, with that many four wheelers and if you had walkie-talkie radios you could split up in glass more areas and if someone spots something and they shoot it, they could call the others for help! 👍👍👍👍
@diyalaskanlifestyle6 ай бұрын
We actually split up a lot even if it only a few hundred yrds away glassing another valley. Most of the video I guess is when we are traveling together. Also after we shot the first moose we weren’t really looking at shooting another it was more or less looking for new ground.
