Come along with us on a winter hike in Alaska. We are grateful to have seen a ton of wildlife to share with you. Winters here are truly breathtaking, especially sunsets on the beach.
With winter, comes short days. We are always looking for projects that we can complete before the sun goes down. In this video, we build two small projects that viewers suggested and they are ready for spring.
Snowshoeing is a great way to get around in the deep snow! We snowshoe over to the other side of the property to check out a tree with some potential chaga.
Thank you for supporting our channel!

There is no such natural and wild life in my country. In 60 seconds, we saw the beauty of God's creation through your eyes. You are a wonderful couple and I want you to know that we love you very much even though we live in different countries with different lifestyles. It's good for us to watch your video with my whole family.😊

You live in a beautiful area. I had always wanted to see part of Alaska! Now I have that opportunity sitting in a comfortable chair and just watch the videos of at least 6 or more couples who have migrated to Alaska and made that their home! Thank you for taking us along and show us this part of the world! There is beauty to marvel at, if only are willing to keep our eyes open!

I remember years ago a seismic crew was working in the winter in the Swanson River area and one on the guys got killed by a bear when he accidentally disturbed its den. A bear can go from hibernation to attack mode real fast. This was in the middle of the winter.

Put the box’s in the trees near the property. Your dog will scare the bats and birds away if you put the box’s in the general area that he roams
@northtoalaska2022
@northtoalaska2022 6 ай бұрын
Hi there! Bat boxes need to be out in the open away from trees. Bats tend to stay away from any box in the trees because it makes it easy for predators to get into the boxes as well as need space free of obstacles to drop into flight. We will be adding an additional post to make the box higher in the spring.

Hello, thanks for taking us all out for a nice walk to the beach, very relaxing with the water sounds & sights. Snowshoeing adventure was nice, hopefully you'll review videos on Chaka identification / harvesting. That burl is worth a few hundred $$$$$ for sure if salvaged properly. Game camera setup should be interesting.... I have a bath house for the past 4 years with zero results but my birdhouses are always occupied -- good luck with the nice housing you bith created. Thanks.

Hello 👋 glad you enjoyed the video! That Is a shame your bat house is still unoccupied, we did read it can take several years for bats to find them sometimes. Apparently being in an open area helps a lot too, we need to get ours up high on a post to help them find it. Thank you for the good luck wishes 🙂

Love the idea of controlling mosquitoes naturally. Might also explore idea of varIous plants that the blood suckers avoid. Here in Oklahoma I plant Catnip, marigolds, basil, lavender and lemon grass...... not sure how those would do in your climate.
@northtoalaska2022
@northtoalaska2022 6 ай бұрын
That's a fantastic idea! In Pennsylvania, we planted lemon grass and citronella every year, but we will definitely look into plants that repel bugs that do well in this climate 😀 The marigolds did amazing in our garden this year, we intermixed them to repel bugs off the plants, so that's a good start as we know they do well here!

Great job on your bird and bat boxes. The only problem is swallows usually nest in a community and your bat box is mounted way too low. If you Google this it says you should mount their boxes at least 20+ ft high. Bat's can't take off from the ground they need the height to get speed for initial takeoff flight. Just a thought.

I’ve been to just about everywhere a person can go in the United States and ALASKA is by Far the most beautiful state of breath Taking mountains, Rivers and lakes and shorelines ! Just absolutely stunning! It Truly is THE LAST FRONTIER & it seems so hard to believe that Russia Would sell such a beautiful place full of Natural Beauty wildlife, natural resources, Gold, precious stones, great fishing & hunting & Lots of Black Gold (OIL) for $7.2 million dollars 157 years ago in 1867. I bet they wish like hell now that they wouldn’t have sold it 😂. Think about how much money has been made coming out of Alaska !!!!! Oil, Gold, Diamonds, Precious stones, commercial fishing, Tourism, Hunting and fishing trips amongst many other things Alaska is rich in. Yeah 7.2 Million in 1867 was a lot of money but Alaska has produced trillions of dollars of wealth for the USA. Alaska May be the most dangerous place on the planet with their brutal long winters and animals like Grizzly that will kill and eat a person...... But it’s got some of the best hunting and Fishing in the entire world and it’s the most beautiful place in the world. You guys are blessed to live in such a beautiful place as long as you can tough out the winters and be always prepared anytime you’re outside for Bear attacks during the months bear aren’t in hibernation. I wouldn’t ever be without at least a 45/70 , 454, 460, 480, or 500 S&W caliber handgun or rifle on me at all times. Also something big enough to take down a Wolf the rest of the year. But I’m sure Chris is always packing heat, I certainly wouldn’t walk out the door without one on me especially when there are things that may think my meat will taste delicious!!! Of course they may take a bite of me and spit it out but I won’t take any chances on that 😂. If i was living there I’d buy me a full blooded Cane Corso puppy and raise him up they will protect you or your animals to death & they’ll kill a wolf and even fight bear to save their owner or flock they lookin over. Or one of those big sheep dogs who are protectors of the flock. I know y’all already have a dog but it wouldn’t hurt to have another larger breed of dog that’s bred for protection against wolf and bear attacks. I’ve seen videos of a black bear that was climbing the fence and getting a farmers sheep at night dragging them back over the fence and he put one of those big sheep dogs in there. The next time the bar comes back that sheepdog tore that bear up and that bear couldn’t get back across that fence fast enough 😂🤣 I also saw another video of the same sheep dog 🐶 a big wolf 🐺 had got over the fence after a sheep & that dog killed that wolf, dog had the wolf around the neck & was shaking it like a rag doll 😂

That is great that you have been able to see most of the United States! Too many people miss out on traveling and getting to experience new places. Alaska truly is an incredible area of North America. The Russian government does regret selling it. We have had several comments on our videos from Russia saying they will take Alaska back to the motherland... We do love it here, even with the harsh winter. We talk about some of the points that you bring up in our next video, we have a very similar view of the state. We always carry protection, normally 10mm which is comparable to .357 mag I'm sure you know. On the light side for brown bears, but at home our main issue would be the moose and black bears are more common than brown in this area. When we go to areas with higher populations of brown bears we take a proper .500 s&w. From what I have read the population of wolves in this area is around 300 estimated. Not a lot but they are here. We have only heard coyotes at home up to this point. It will be interesting to see all the different animals move through over the years. Cane Corsos are a beautiful dog, we had considered one in the past. I'm not sure they would stay warm outside here in the winter with the short coat but they are a great dog. It seems a great Pyrenees would fare well here out in the cold all winter, I understand they are a great livestock guardian breed too. Maybe one day we will look more into livestock guardian dogs when we are more established out here. Hope all is well CcRider!

Some research claims it helps lower cholesterol, slow cancer growth, and help with digestive and immune health. We are not professionals on this subject but this is information we have found online 😀

@Dutch779 It grows on a variety of trees, but what we've read is that you want to only harvest chaga from Birch trees. 😊

Just catching up on favorite channels videos. Here in Ohio, I found I only got pics of coyotes once after moving camera. Move camera again… coyote pic then not again until next camera move.

Hopefully someday you will experience breaking through the ice over a spring and sink into mud up to your waist. Trying to get your boots out of the mud is a chore even for a strong, young hiker.

The one further away across the inlet is the Alaska range where it meets up with the Aleutian range. The closer mountains are the Kenai range in the Seldovia area. This video was taken in Homer Alaska on the shore of the Cook Inlet all in one location for the scenery. 🙂
