Bo'Bo' electric locomotive, based upon ASEA's Rb1 prototype and built under license by Rade Koncar Zagreb (Croatia). Widely spread in former Yugoslavia, 130 were produced and delivered to CFR (Romanian State Railways) since 1972.
They were numbered as class 43 ("EC" - old numbering, with a top speed of 120 km/h for regional passenger and freight services) and class 44 ("EC1" - old numbering, with a top speed of 160 km/h, for express trains).
Technically refered as "LE3400kW - locomotiva electrica 3400 kilowati" and nicknamed "Bobica" (due to it's Bo-Bo configuration), these locomotives became the backbone of romanian electric traction, among their bigger sister CFR class 40,41,42(EA,EA1-"LE 5100 KW").
Today only a few machines remain in service within the State Railways. A lot of them were scrapped or sold to private railroad companies. Some were refurbished and upgraded with new technology, boosting the engine power to 4400 kW and being renumbered as class 46)
