Being off social media tells you enjoy your summer which is good! Lots of interesting albums. The Zombies are one of my favorite UK 60’s bands, they never did anything bad back then. I want a UK copy of O&O but they are hard to come by and expensive too. Now I will take a listen to that Sloan record! Keep enjoying your summer and happy belated 40th birthday!

Had no idea about that book...but I've been a hardcore Jellyhead since 1990 with Bellybutton...the connection with Redd Kross...Steve McDonald plays bass on that album...that CD copy of Spilt Milk looks different from mine, yours is yellower or something...I have the 4CD boxset Fan Club which is going nowhere...via Jellyfish, I bought the Puffy (AmiYumi) records via Andy's involvement as well as the Merrymakers, Greys, Jason Falkner solo, Imperial Drag & now the Lickerish Quartet...no idea what Andy is doing now, but Jellyfish is one of my fave bands ever...too bad I never saw em live...I have the 2 2CD remasters plus some others, but I'm now kicking myself for selling the 2 coloured vinyl reissues of them...Bellybutton in blue & accordion cover & Spilt Milk in green...never bought the 7" set, didn't think I needed it, looking back, I would have bought the coloured one...

Welcome back Hanna, it’s always interesting to find out what you’ve been listening to. I’ll have to check out Legal Weapon as I’m an X fan as well. My most played album is The Murder Capital- Gigi’s Recovery. Another album that has also really caught my ear is The KVB- Artefacts. They’re a dark wave / post punk duo from the U.K. This particular lp is covers of 60’s psychedelic tunes. Sparks-the girl is crying in Her Latte is also getting a lot of play. I’m not really a big shoegaze fan but 3 of my favorite songs this summer definitely fall into that genre all released this year. Check out , Drab Majestry-the skin and the Glove bdrmm-pulling stiches Crush-stick in the Mud

Hey Hanna ! Nice to see a new video from you. Happy 40th Birthday 🎂. I’ve been watching you for at least 3 years. And you present stuff that nobody else shows. So thank you for that. I love Odyssey and Oracle by The Zombies. “This Could Be Our Year” , “Care of Cell 44”, “Hung Up on a Dream” & “Time of the Season” plus “Beechwood Park” are my favorites !! I saw The Zombies around 2010 and they sounded great. I believe they are still touring…but 80 years old is coming for them. I couldn’t find “Legal Weapon” yet. But I already had “Jellyfish Spilt-Milk” from an earlier video of yours. Flyying Colours I liked very much. “Bright Lights” & “Goodbye to Music” had my interest !!! Sloan record is excellent !! I can see why you would have this one playing over and over !! Lemonheads Come on Feel sounded good and I checked out It’s a Shame About Ray…very cool cover of Mrs Robinson !! Mt Fog is indeed quite different …not really my thing but it’s sort of pretty and compelling…giving it a shot 😊 I hope you don’t mind a little criticism…you camera is far away from your face. I liked the way you used to do it. I guess that may sound silly but I hope not . Don’t get me wrong…your brilliant content is why I tune in. I have learned so much from you about post punk and shoegaze etc. And we both love The Who …especially Live at Leeds and Sell Out !!! Lastly Bully is interesting but I haven’t really had time yet to have much of an opinion. It’s funny because I have been playing Wordle for awhile…and todays word was wait for it …BULLY …Lol !!! Great video as always !!! I just wanted to post that it’s good to hear from you again. Keep spinning tunes and take it easy !!!😊Bye …🎸🎸🎸

Hanna! So good to see you and glad that you're enjoying your summer. Looking forward to listening to some Beach Fossils and Legal Weapon. I also love X so I am intrigued. The photo you showed of Kat actually bears some resemblance to Exene. Was unaware of the cd deluxe edition fir Spilt Milk and that's going to the top of my buy list. At least the members of Jellyfish have given us some releases from other bands. I love the Lickerish Quartet eps, The Grays Ro Sham Bo is excellent as is Roger Manning's album Catnip Dynamite. Summer months usually finds me reaching for "old" favorites. X Wild Gift, Gang of Four Entertainment, Robyn Hitchcock Globe of Frogs, XTC's Skylarking and Drums and Wires and Electric Peace Rest in Peace ep. On an unrelated note, I was able to grab one of the Rhino remastered limited release for The Cars self titled album. Sounds really good. (Number 3708/5000) Thanks as always for the recommendations! Thanks for another great video! I’ve also been enjoying discovering new music this summer (among them Beach Fossils and Motorama), having been out of the loop for years, so I’ve been dipping back about 15 years! Some great-some quite delayed-discoveries, most in the post-punk area: Ought, Constant Mongrel (check out their song “Action” if you haven’t heard it-my new favorite punk meets post punk slab of greatness), Cool Greenhouse, Deerhunter, Hecks, DIIV, Bodega, Screensaver, and so many others. Also Odessey & Oracle definitely makes my all time favorites list (not something I’ve tried to write down either), and many thanks for turning me on to Flyying Colours this video and Fehlfarben and Ist Ist in your previous video. Very similar tastes here in post punk, shoegaze/dream pop, jangle, punk, power pop, etc.

Nice to hear from you again. You asked what we had been listening to. We have not heard to many new records this summer as my wife and I have been riding motorbikes round Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand for a couple of months. However, I found a couple of things on youtube that were new to me Beth Orton & The Chemical Brothers - 'I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain' I have always loved Tim Buckley and this is a cover of one of his classics. I just randomly found this song and kept on playing it. Great Stereolab - "Nihilist Assault Group" (from "Mars Audiac Quintet") This album is great to play on your phone while you are riding in the countryside. This track is just fantastic....and I am not sure why. Boris - Just Abandoned Myself on the youtube channel "theskywaswhite" Live 19 May 2017, Max Watts, Melbourne The second half of this track is unbelievable. I once heard Kevin Shields talking about music being so loud it physically affects your body. This song has a physical impact on me. I have played this video so many times. For me it is like "lightning in a bottle") By the way, I am sorry that you are 40. However, as I am 61 years old, my sympathy is limited. All the best. Keep up the good work.

Hi David! Wow, you and your wife are experiencing life to the fullest this summer! What an adventure! Thanks for sharing some music that's been new to you. Some of Boris' stuff is mind-blowing for sure! I only started listening to Stereolab maybe 3 years ago. I've been enjoying the 3 CDs I picked up by them! I really appreciate the comment and positivity! Cheers!

Hey Hanna! Nice to see you! I’m liking the Messiahs, Kraftwerk and Isolation Drills behind you. All awesome albums! I’ve been enjoying repeat listens of the Shock of Daylight ep (my favourite the Sound recording so far), and fell down a rabbit hole of dark and doom jazz bands this summer. This includes Bohren and der Cub of Gore, Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, Mount Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, and Hidden Orchestra. Also, on a more challenging note, the Lovecraft Sextet. As well, Ultravox the Systems of Romance never seems far from my playlist. Ever. Also discovered Electric Wizard this year. Oh the fuzz! And some decent electronic beats from Four-Tet, Burial, Aphex Twin and Future Sound of London. And to top it all off, been revisiting Simple Minds New Gold Dream, and Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call. I guess I’m just all over the place…

Thanks, Murray! So nice to read this comment from you! Ah, I love Shock of Daylight from the Sound as well! Great pick! I have to say I'm not familiar with "doom jazz" but I certainly am intrigued now! Since you provided a list, I will be sampling some of those bands! I have Systems of Romance by Ultravox and love it, too! Great picks! A big wish list item for me is Simple Minds' Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings. Fingers crossed I find that soon!

Glad to hear from you again. Now I know for sure I'm not the only one that owns a record of Motorama. Mine is called 'Dialogues'. Love The Zombies, The lemonheads and sloan. I've been listening to some jazz: Miles Davis - In A Silent Way, Don Cherry - Where Is Brooklin. Some new releases: Squid - O Monolith, youth Lagoon - Heaven Is Junkyard. Some old ones: The Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro, Nico - Camera Obscura, C Cat Trance - Zouave. And a rather obscure one. They've been described as 'the greatest post-punk band you've never heard', but you've probably heard of? Glorious Din - Closely Watched Trains, an album released in 1987. Awesome record. I appreciate your channel a lot. There's so much great music to discover every time I watch your video's.

Happy 29th!! I'll have to get Odyssey & Oracle another listen as I still haven't gotten it yet. Jellyfish - I started listening to them because of one of your videos a few years back. Sloan! Wow! Yeah, they are pretty big in Canada among the Gen X crowd - so I've always taken them for granted as I've grown up with them on the radio and seeing them at shows/festivals. Shocked to see them mentioned on YT as I never would imagine them getting much exposure in the States. Fantastic band though (if you see them live they all switch instruments throughout the show) - back in the day (1992) we thought they'd be the next Nirvana as they were signed to Geffen. You might dig Eric's Trip - similar origin to Sloan, but different sound.

Happy belated Birthday, welcome back and greetings from Ann Arbor, MI Hanna! I am a relatively new subscriber to your channel but have really been enjoying it a ton. What great Summer choices that you have been spinning! I listened to that Flyying Colours - You Never Know while at work today, and I was blown away. Really cool stuff! I think I too will have to grab that vinyl as well. I am not sure how I missed that band, as it is right up my alley. I also listened to that Bully - Lucky For You while at work today, and it too is pretty darn amazing. I am really into female driven 90’s bands, so this too was a winner with its throwback feel. I am so jealous that you got to catch them with Best Coast. What a great line up! I am curious, have you heard the band Doused, and their album is called Murmur? They are a modern shoegaze band out of Philly. Really cool stuff! I ordered their vinyl from Flesh & Bones records and just waiting for it to come in. Pumped! Here is a KZfaq link to their album: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpuRl7Z53LvdaHU.html Also worth checking out, if you haven’t heard it, is Belgrado - Obraz. Really cool throwback to Joy Division, Siouxsie etc: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prmkksmVv8XSZIE.html And also Asobi Seksu - Asobi Seksu. Japanese female led shoegaze adjacent band. Pretty cool stuff: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jNhxma2qlrWoe3k.html All 3 are REALLY great albums and have been in heavy rotation at work thanks to KZfaq. So here is what I have been spinning a ton of this Summer so far: 1. Doused - Murmur (on KZfaq until my vinyl comes in lol) 2. The Muffs - The Muffs 3. The Sound - Jeopardy 4. Sugar - Copper Blue 5. Psychedelic Furs - Made Of Rain 6. The Troggs - Wild Thing 7. Rival Schools - Pedals 8. Dry Cleaning - New Long Leg 9. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless 10. Donnie and Joe Emerson - Still Dreamin’ Wild: The Lost Recordings 1979-81 I also really wanted to say thank you for turning me on to music I hadn’t heard yet like The Sound, Sad Lovers & Giants, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Chameleons, Gang Of Four, New Candys and Chelsea. Thank you again Hanna, and please keep inspiring me musically and creating great content! Shawn

Curious if you've ever heard the band Adorable's album Against Perfection? The LP has a slightly different track list and unfortunately does not start out with their best song Sunshine Smile and is left off completely so the best track sequence is available on CD and cassette but that album is awesome. 1993 Creation records. Hey Nigel! Well, I appreciate the compliment, I really do! 😄 I appreciate your patience all this time. I know it had been a long break! As far as a Siouxsie ranking - yes, I will circle back before the end of the year for a ranking, I'm sure. I was a bit hesitant to do another since my Cocteau Twins one took so much preparation and it hasn't garnered many views. See you next time, and I hope all is well with you!

Nice seeing you. Some bands that we need to take a look at.. In England last week at a punk festival, Rebellion..came across a band called, Millie Manders and the Shutup. Give them a look. We're fans now.

I think taking a break from social media is healthy as hell, Hanna. (Spoken like the fellow introvert I am.) Going by the music you're enjoying this summer, it seems as though you've been in a good place. Hope so! 😊I'm listening to Lush a lot this summer! And Slowdive (looking forward to their new one coming out soon)! Oh, and lots of post punk. Peace.

Hi Jules! Glad you have the same thoughts regarding taking breaks from social media. It's necessary for me. I'm also looking forward to the new Slowdive offering! How exciting! And Lush vinyl reissues soon! I really need Split on vinyl! And post punk is still my top genre! Cheers!

You know, a lot of people by 40 are clinging desperately to the 'they don't make music like they used to' whine, and you are so far from that! The mix of old and new means that I can trust your recommendations and discover music that is simply good. Once again a great selection. And Wild Blue Yonder just kicks...

I don't think its whining, but music is just cyclical. When you turn 40, the music you grew up to is 20 or so years old and music will have moved on to something different. And we yearn for music similar to a time we knew and loved.

I like to see the love for the Screaming Blue Messiahs here! So glad you love my summer selection! I've really been enjoying the excellent new records this year. I probably still mostly listen to the 80s overall, but there is so much fresh talent out there right now that I'd rather not miss! See you next time!

Only person whining is you. lol. Everyone has their own taste in music and dissing that fact is just lame. For the most part I don't listen to new music, so what's wrong with that?

Welcome back, Hanna! I l just love these Flyying Colours and Beach Fossils albums! I didn't get these on vinyl yet, but I'm definitely considering it! I don't know Motorama that well yet, but judging by your comments, I should probably listen to their records, as I love post punk too. I can see you've got "Spooky" by Lush on your display! They are finally releasing remasters / reissues of Lush albums (they should be out this month, if I'm not misatken). And you got me interested in Mt. Fog's work already! I'll listen to her latest album, as I love all the references you mentioned when you described her sound (Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush, etc.). Thank you so much for releasing this video and for your recommendations!! :)

Hi Gilson! So lovely to hear from you again! As far as the Lush reissues, yes, I really want to get Split on vinyl! Hopefully one of my local stores can get them. I really hope you love that Mt Fog record. So unique! Hope all is well with you and that you're having a great summer!

I thought the reason why you weren't popping up up here was due to my government placing weird restrictions on what is Canadian content, Canadian content creators are worried if they have the proper content. Anywho, glad you made it to drop a bunch more artists I've never heard of, it's good for me. I've been dancing with Robbie Robertson the past few days. Tell Chris I have extra Rush albums to trade for his extra AC/DC albums. In some cases I have three copies of certain Rush albums, I have lost track over the years. You guys have a great time while we witness the death of the summer. The Zombies I will have to give more attention to beyond the classic time of the season entry.

Heyyyy! I see you rocking he black/white which matches nicely with Pretenders and very Tim Burton-esque. I had no idea that Come On Feel The Lemonheads was reissued, but I have to snag that. I love Sloan but I haven’t gotten that one yet so there’s another for my list. Never seen that particular Zombies cover art, but I dig that album; funny I was just listening to some live Byrds last night and digging the harms. Lastly that Mt. Fog cover art is fantastic; I would check that out based on the cover art alone. Rock on Hanna, and enjoy the rest of your summah! 😎

Thanks, T! Always appreciate you taking the time to hang here, too! Glad you noticed the Beetlejuice vibes with the Pretenders! 😉 Extra points! Oh yeah, definitely add this Come On Feel the Lemonheads reissue to your wishlist! It's a must! Yeah, I don't really dig this alternate cover art for Odessey & Oracle. Would love to find an OG for a decent price one day but that's most likely out of the cards! Hehe! There's a few reissues that are supposed to be superior quality so I'm looking out for those! Glad you were soaking in the sweet harmonies from the Byrds last night. Such a favorite! Rock on!

@@TheOmahaIntrovert yeah I’ve never seen an original of Odyssey & Oracle in the wild ever; I have a 2015 reissue on the Varese label that I like. I am still kicking myself for selling this cool Zombies compilation I had years ago entitled “Time Of The Zombies,” it’s definitely one I’ve been meaning to get back. All their stuff is pretty elusive on wax. Great stuff as always amiga, later on!

Thanks for all the great ideas. I have not really been discovering new stuff this summer. The only album I played beginning to end is far far away from punk: Tony Bennett "Bennett on Holiday" where he covers Billie Holiday songs. Everything else has been very random. Definitely love your taste in music.
