7:13 The Alchemist is supposed to have a ball detent that locks into the ram to prevent breech opening. Its one of the main advantages of the blaster over other similar designs. I'll have to talk to Foamwork and see if their version is missing the ball detent. The ball detent is extra important on Alchemist because the breech is so smooth. The ball bearings make it a lot easier to move back and forth. Other blasters can rely on friction to keep it closed. Alchemists sold here in the US do have gravity drop mags. Print tolerances are probably making yours a hair too tight. The takedown pin in the rear shouldn't need any locking hardware. The bar tensioner in the front pulls against that pin to lock it in place. The blaster seems a bit un-tensioned on your example, hence the looseness. Overall, very well put together review. Always a big fan of how objective and straightforward your testing is!

I checked with Jay myself after reading that it has a ball detent. He said that this one also does. While it doesn't come open from pointing it up, giving it a shake like you might experience from running around allowed it to come loose.

With the gravity drop, the mag lips seem to hang at the widest part of the skinny pusher. Once I pull the mag past there it gravity drops.

The side to side wobble always looks worse on camera than it is in real life. I just gave the tensioning nut about a quarter turn nip and it's very tight. Still has some side to side movement but slightly improved.

Finally, yeah that locking hardware on the pin is quite unnecessary. I doubt I could even knock the pin out with a hammer with it tensioned.

Nice blaster but I don't really see the sense to buy it after getting the worker harrier which has very similar size and performance but not 3D printed. About the CQB in my opinion the lynx are still the best high fps CQB blaster. Anyway that's good that today nerfers have such a big choice of good high fps blasters and I'm sure that there is some players who will choose the Alchemist. As always nice review Bradley!

That locking clip on the rear takedown pin is redundant if the front tensioning bolt is properly tight.
@BradleyPhillipsYT

Yeah just tested it. Not sure why Jay added it unless maybe the tensioning nut comes loose over time or something. As it is currently I doubt I could physically knock the pin out with a hammer until loosening.

Now that would be an interesting video. FYI I'm working on a new low-hardware springer project on and off between other projects. Should be much nicer than the LHTCU since it's low hardware focused from the ground-up.

Guessing your barrel might be angled a little to the left. Or you might need to adjust your sight to compensate.

@@BradleyPhillipsYT I found out that you have to turn the worker scar to a specific point because if it isnt twisted in right, the darts will curve left, now they are pinpoint straight

ill never buy another 3d printed blaster after i paid like $300 for a caliburn and the priming handle foregrip broke off in like a week of light use. 3d prints are just too fragile for the kind of money these things cost..id rather spend a little more if i have to and get full metal or some molded plastic etc
@Trashticz

they can be a lot cheaper if you just buy the hardware and print the parts yourself
@RicH0864
@RicH0864 3 ай бұрын
Printing a blaster myself right now and it's extremely cheaper than buying off the shelf printed blasters. The strength of a part really depends on the orientation and settings it was printed in plus the type of material as some materials aren't UV and high temperature resistant. You definitely have a point of there being more value in metal or injection molded plastic if you're buying off the shelf though.
@mattross9992
@mattross9992 3 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that Grandmaster. It's unfortunate but it sounds like either a very heavy spring load (which would mean adjusting the print and settings and maybe material to account for it) or just poor layer adhesion. I can't speak for everyone but a well printed blaster will be able to withstand plenty of abuse. It is however not the same as injection molded. I hope whoever you bought it from gave you another grip at the very least, I know I would. Also people tend to charge to much for time and labor (imo) so shop around you likely can find commissions for a better price.

this is a great design and all but I just aint a fan of 3d printing at all, especially with how cheap full metal blaster have come with the Apex (YES, I know its pricier than the alchemist when you just look prices without regarding anything else)
@BradleyPhillipsYT
@BradleyPhillipsYT 3 ай бұрын
If you're a new Nerfer coming into the hobby, assuming you don't have a 3D printer so would have to add that to the price, both printing or buying a printed blaster is also more expensive than something mass produced and injection molded like the Worker Harrier.
