Super excited to see some traction on this trend! Almost 6 years sober here and my social life took a hit when I quit drinking. I’m sure some people would find this to be “lame” but doubt I’d care to hang out in public with those folks anyway.

@ Chris lucas- it's not lame and good for you! Sober since 2005 and had a similar problem. I kept thinking of this old saying when dealing with friends and family giving me a hard time about it at gatherings. " The ones that matter don't mind and the ones that mind don't matter" It helped me get rid of alot negative people in my life, I made new friends, reconnected with other members of my extended family that really do want me to be healthy & happy and I don't regret making those tough choices a bit. Do what feels right for you and makes you happy.

You never wake up with a hangover. You know there is no chance of harming anyone by driving drunk. I love this idea. People think it is the alcohol that allows them to have fun and that is so not the case.

replacing alcohol with sugary drinks, and then go over board with that again, always searching for something outside of us to keep us sane (or insane) to remember (or to forget) this search is a loop which never ends.

I'm the same way. my mother never drank since my parents were from a Muslim country. People kept saying I wasn't living life and to be honest most of them looked like they had pathetic lives where all they did was waste money on booze. I've never had a drink and I never will need one.

I am not sober , I am not a drunk & I would love this option to socialize . Many times I crave the social interaction of a bar like setting but am not in the mood to drink or be around people who are drinking. This would be a great alternative

Feels not-so-great to be the lone sober person at a bar. I love the idea of the sober bar. Kava bars are another option too (kava is nice; provides a buzz, but not eft up like alcohol ). It’s important to be on the same wavelength as the ppl you are around. Sober people are boring to drunks and drunks are annoying to sober people.

Where I live there was a cafe open until midnight and my friends and I would hang out there often and get hot cocoa, tea or dessert. Similar concept and it was a nice place to hang out as a young woman without having to deal with drunk guys. I think they technically did sell alcohol like Irish coffee and a few drinks like that but no one was ever drunk.

You can find wheat grass or wheatgerm drinks at any juice bar in any fitness center so what's your point? They don't serve alcohol there either and people don't complain, people go to those for an after workout drink or shake not get drunk. BTW wheatgrass and wheatgerm doesn't make you vomit but it does "clean" you plumbing and keep you regular so there is that.

@Ms B- Have you talked to anyone in your community to see if the interest is there? If not then open a discussion with your neighbors and see what they say or how they would feel about it. They say no well no harm, no foul right? There are still some "dry cities/counties in the south and this idea is being talked about as an option, it would help local economy, creates more small businesses and increases job opportunities for more people. Nashville TN has 3 that I know of that offer low-alcohol or no-alcohol menus (M.L. Rose, Rambler and Henley )Local breweries are getting in on it and making money so it is possible.
