Just 13 miles from Manchester lies the village of Alderly Edge. A quaint little place with a obsession with their wizardy folk legend. A tale which I'll tell on an upcoming Five Minute Folklore video.
Parking up at the national trust car park you are immediately greeted by the Wizard Tea room. A great place to get some refreshments before or recharge after a good walk. I may have induldged in a Sea Salt caramel ice cream in this video. From there you have several walks you can go on. All taking you around the local hilly woodland. On certain days, rather than climbing, you can descend into the earth in the nearby Copper mines.
By far the biggest highligh of the walk is the great view from the sandstone ledge that looks out over the cheshire plains. A perfect place to stop with a brew.
While planning the routes it's worth looking in advance which ones will suit your mobility. A few are on decently maintained paths while others are more rugged. Whichever way you go there will be some fairly steep climbs as well. The car park is large and free for national trust members. There is the aforementioned Wizards Tea room for food and some toilets on site.
