Thank you for mentioning Ask Izzy. The app was on,y new when I needed it the most :) grateful now I can eat whatever I want and need. One thing I will say though: usually the soup kitchens won’t ask you for anything, any special requirements. If you do go to the charities they will mostly expect you to at least prove you are on benefits. And I think that’s fair considering they’re usually the ones that need it. Also, ringing the local council can tell you or point you to things that aren’t listed on Ask :)

Always save your vegetable peels and onion ends and skin and make veggie stock. If you add bones it's chicken or beef or whatever stock. Keep in fridge or freezer. Completely free, just made from food scraps and water. Really good for adding flavour

Aldi fruit salad is THE BEST. Plenty of grapes, it's not just peaches and pears like all the other ones are now. If I wanted two basic urch fruits I'd buy two fruits! The only real fruit salad available these days. Lol Yummo.

I actually have similar to the couscous dish for lunch often. I use regular couscous and any leftovers from the fridge. Sometimes leftover salad vege or roast vege. Sometimes some leftover meat or a small tin of tuna. It’s always yum and I just use the kettle when making the couscous.

I just costed this up at UK Dec 22 prices, but it was cheaper to get 15 eggs than 12, our cans of fruit cocktail are smaller so I costed up 2 cans and can't find condensed soup so just costed1 regular and it came to £7.50. I doubt anyone wants to know this except me, lol.

I have the LAZIEST way for poached eggs. Empty the egg into a small coffee cup, microwave for 30seconds. Swirl after 30 seconds to loosen it from the cup. Now if you like it super runny let it set whilst you get your toast ready. If you're like me and like it cooked another 15 seconds max some times 7 seconds. Eggs aren't going in a pot being wasted with strings of egg yoke, no vinegar required either. The more eggs you use in more cups increase the time in the microwave. I personally just have 1 egg on toast. There's other times I have 2 eggs in one cup but mix it with spices, after 30 seconds I flip it over and do another 30 seconds. It rises heaps I joke and call it egg soufflé lol. That's when I'm doing my protein days as no added fats go into it. Same with no dairy, no added salt.
@NikkiBeal

We do these too! But we call them "Fluffy Eggs". Sometimes we break them up like a scrambled egg, sometimes we leave them runny and dip toast in them like a hard boiled egg. They're so quick and easy, our kids have been making their own since they were about 6-7 👌

12:15 where did you get your tray for the soup pot to rest on? We have crap benches. You can see my crap benches (painted wood) on my channel. So after ways all times to try and make them last before that lotto win so we can rebuild the whole house lol. Must say I'm going to try the cous cous and veg with tuna. I often use cous cous with morrocan spice and butter. I find the butter helps it stop clumping. I have put 4 bean mix in it too along with corn. Just as a side dish though and serving of Chicken next to it and other vegetables as the 3rd side dish (broccoli for example for it's high protein)

I just want to ask how do you start all this do you just do one massive shop and then just eat from that as the weeks go on? I don’t actually have a lot in my pantry/fridge and freezer so I need to spend at least $150 on groceries just to fill everything up as I don’t have pasta, rice, no frozen veg, no milk, butter, no meat no fruit literally nothing. How would this even work?
@NikkiBeal
@NikkiBeal 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessyka. For these specific challenges, I only eat what I purchase in the video. Outside of challenges like this, we work off a grocery budget of $100 per person, per month plus $100 for the house (so our monthly grocery budget is currently $400 per month for our family of 3. When our older kids were still at home, it was $600 p/m for the 5 of us). I usually shop once a week, and rotate through purchasing things we keep in bulk (ie: bulk rice one week, past the next, etc). I meal plan each week from the things I already have at home, and aim to only purchase a few things to filling the gaps / complete meals, that way I can use any leftover funds to 'stock up' (ie: buy marked downs, bulk buys, etc). Our weekly spend can ebb & flow a bit, so long as we don't go over our monthly allocation. Slowly we've ended up with a rotating stockpile. That's what has worked for us, but everyone is different.

@@NikkiBeal thanks for that it does help me out. Hopefully today I can get some markdowns with whatever is actually left on the shelves with this craziness of the world. I’m trying to save a bit of money due to us having a baby on the due in March so just wanna be more frugal and healthier options too. Again thanks for the advice
@NikkiBeal
@NikkiBeal 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jessica_Alternative89 it's tough at the moment. Most of the meat & dairy shelves at our Coles are empty, and there are limits on what is left (so even if there were marked downs, there would be limits on how much you can purchase). But they are still running weekly specials and they are a good opportunity to stock up on the things you regularly use at half price.
