Im with Pedro on this: this is a banger and it is a good thing that they got something new instead of being a borefest. Also, Bobo's solo is sikh! Happy that you mentioned Sabaton, which is at this point a parody of itself with their cringe camo pants and their only topic being WW1.

100%. I can’t understand sticking to a theme so heavily. In Finland when someone takes things too seriously, we say they ”grip the hockey stick too hard”. That’s the case I’d make for Sabaton.

Just goes to show that you can’t please everyone all the time. (Complain if they stay the same, complain if they change) If you think this doesn’t sound like an Alestorm song you are a casual fan at best, which is fine. This song has absolutely so many Alestorm elements minus the tongue in cheek flavor. This song is fantastic. Celebrate their creativity. Love you guys, but for me this is 10/10. Taking my 11 y/o daughter to her first concert in 2 weeks and it’s Alestorm.

I really like this one. I am not the biggest fan of Alestorm, i like some of their Songs and they have a nice energy when playing live, but this song is just soo good.

Well, this will be my very first Alestorm album I buy (pre-ordered). In the past I just listened them on YT, but I didn't liked them enough to buy their music. But this one is a banger. I really love it. But I get it, if you're a fan of the older stuff, you hate it. Same with bands like Feuerschwanz, where a lot of ppl. are angry that they changed their style. But I REALLY love their new style.

I am on board with Antonio on this one. Yes, it's a good thing, that they do "something different" here and there, I really liked Tortuga for example and that is almost a Dubstep-tune, BUT it had that certain "pirate-feel" and the typical "Alestorm-roughness" to it, even though it has less Metal in it. This Song right here could easily be from any other modern Metal Band nowadays (like Amaranthe for example) except, like Antonio stated, Christopher's voice. And thats not enough imo. Listen to his Version of Powerwolf's Resurrection by errection. How much better, would that cover sound, if it had not the Original-Instrumental, but some folky, goofy, scottish Pirate-Metal to back Christopher's raspy voice up. Let that sink in for a minute (sink, got it!? 😜).

The people who complain about a band doing something different are often the same people who also complain about bands songs all sound the same though

I went through most of the comments under the Video and there were just a few "negative" comments. Approximately 10 out of 1000 said they simply don't like this song. More said it sounds like an anime intro (~20) but the majority of the people liked it. There was a single comment saying something about the lack of Folk. But the majority liked it and a lot of the comments actually want to hear more with Patty. Obviously 1000 comments won't represent the whole audience, but I think there would be a lot more "negative" comments towards the style change, if a lot of people wouldn't like the style change. I would also recommend you to listen/react to the new Crossfaith song "ZERO".

I don't think a band is obligated to keep all their music within the borders of a certain sound. I find it really cool that Alestorm did a more serious song again. Maybe they’re hoping to break out of the mold they've put themselves in with silly drinking songs and do something a little more serious with the pirate theme like in their earlier music.

@@mrtn1478 Yeah, at least by Alestorm's standards. It tells a story. The only jokey element to me is Chris' vocals, which is kinda unavoidable.

I know that they have plenty of drinking and fckng tunes. But there has been a lot of "more serious" story-telling in Alestorm-Songs already. Besides, if they are telling a serious story right here, why does the Song sounds so happy and uplifting?

I dont if you guys have heard the two first Alestorm's albums ?, Captain morgan's revenge and Black Sails at Midnight albums is alot more heavier then the rest of the albums, so I really did like this, almost felt like a throwback for me, but with the female vocals instead and I dont know how I felt about that.

Because of there age, the long-term party will no longer fit there real life. Changing there style now before things get awkward is smart. A marauder is an (ex-)soldier who murders or plunders for his own benefit. For example, a mercenary who is no longer fit for war because of his war injuries and therefore plunders in the war zone in order to survive.
