De la tierra is amazing. But Mana is not known for being focused on drumming. It’s too pop. I still think Cuando Los Angeles lloran is their heaviest album, and Alex’s drumming shines. As far as Latin American drummers I still think the most influential is Dave Lombardo.

That's so interesting.... I never realized that. He's basically throwing his chops onto the songs. He's not a groove in the pocket drummer. I never realized that until you pointed it out. But yes hats off to Alex. He is good definitely in his style.

My all time favorite drummer. His style is so fresh and cool and he plays so clean! And also his chops are super creative. Im a guitar player who learned to play drums just to play his songs (not that I can nail them like he does)

They’re Spanish rock. When I heard them the 1st time I was floored at the musicianship and arrangements. That introduced me to more rock bands from Latin America. I found they weren’t afraid to play with genres and got back to basic elements of good songs. The melodies were appealing and catchy. That was way back in the 90s. At the time the music industry in the USA really started to stink.

Dude he is one of the best drummers right now. His band started back in the late 80’s early 90s. Amazing drummer. He is also a songwriter, singer and he is in another band called De La Tierra, which is a trash metal band from latin america, with Andreas Kisser of Sepultura on guitars and Harold Hopkins from Puya on bass.

That's funny. I'm that way. I have to usually read the sizes of my equipment before I tell people what I play. Yes, Alex definitely knows by memory.

Rarely shines? You gotta be kidding me. Almost every song they wrote from 89 to 2002 is amazing and Alex is a big reason why. His cops and fills bring their songs to life, its the subtle details he adds to enhance the songs, he absolutely does shine in Mana, not everything is meant to sound like q drum solo.

Mana is a great band, from 89 to 2002 almost every song they released was amazing. Their songwriting is shit nowadays but that happens to every band thats been writing for 3 decades. Still if you ever saw them live, youd see how great they are, they play clean as fuck. Best concerts Ive ever been to are Mana’s and Metallica’s. I also so Dream Theater live and Id put Mana over DT live. Amazing musicians.

what about Antonio Sanchez? he is technically more skilled than Alex, but at the end is just a matter of taste. Therefore you cannot say that Alex is better or worse.

Looks like a 26x18 but could be a 24x18 as yhore are his usual sizes, he also did a tour of this kit with Remo like 10 months ago and didnt mention the size of the kick 😂
